10/10 - Perfect. Succeeds in all accounts.

9.5/10 - Near perfect.

9/10 - Great and well rounded with minor problems.

8.5/10 - Good, but had some problems.

8/10 - Solid for the most part, but noticeably lacking at times.

7.5/10 - Decent at times but mediocre and problematic throughout.

7/10 - Mediocre and uninspired.

6.5/10 - Poor and undeniably lackluster.

6/10 - Better off skipping it.

5/5 - Utter failure.

5/10 & below are just varying degrees of garbage.

Pretty much how I rate movies myself. Good scale.

I thought it was a masterpiece. Saw it last night with two my closest buddies. 2 of the three of us were crying(I'm one of them) at the end. I think it's better than the first film in every way and easily the best of the marvel films. This is coming from someone who had to be calmed down by his wife during the third act of the first Avengers film lol. Being a father, the film reasonated even more for me. I loved all of the "new"(even though some appeared in the first film) characters. Yondu was amazing. I loved Mantis, Ego, Nebula. All of the returning characters(especially Drax) were magnificent.

I loved that it was more of a character study than an "stop the evil bad guy" film. You know when you read a run of really good comics that have very little battle scenes and are all about the character interactions? This was like that only when the action was on it was REALLY on. It wasn't gratuitous, it just happened naturally.

I loved every second of it, I can't wait to see it again, own the Blu-ray and buy the Hot Toys :)

This Tweet from Gunn says that there will be, but not for a while.

Thanks for letting me know.

A friend of mine went to the Thursday night first showing and got me a Groot shaped popcorn bucket. I plan on using it as a planter. :)

I feel bad for Gen Xers like you (I presume), sandwiched between two larger generations, Baby Boomers and Millennials. Your gen still can't even get someone in the Whitehouse, and at this rate there might be a Millennial President before a Gen Xer. :monkey2

At least you guys had good music.

And great movies don't forget. This forum mostly talks about most of them.

Are kids enjoying this movie? Neither of mine want to see it in the theater but that's how they felt about Moana and ended up regretting waiting until On Demand/blu-ray.

I enjoyed this movie, but it was nowhere near as edgy or clever as some of Gunn's other films. Was pretty by the numbers for the most part and played to the cutesy Baby Groot and melodrama (romance, family, etc.) too strongly for my tastes. Sentimentality was off the charts. But there were things to like. It was fun. The action was good. Some of the jokes had me chuckling. The post-credits scenes weren't great but I enjoyed those as well . It was nice seeing the guys hanging out with Stan Lee.

Par for the course for Disney ( Marvel and contemporary Star Wars).

:goodpost: It's hard to say. I don't have kids but I have a niece and two nephews I live with and they didn't mention anything about Guardians.:dunno I'll ask them.

I don't think young kids today are as comic book driven as the previous generation.

No, they definitely aren't. They're all in for new SW though. My son and his friends even pretend to be SW characters during recess at school.

What do they feed on now? Disney channel and iphone apps?

"Correct."

I thought children were the target audience for this film?

No they're not but as an uncle, I've tried to have them have some knowledge about comics and the characters before seeing the movies.

To be fair, most comic book movie fans aren't really comic fans. :lol

Even actual comic book fans didn't know or cared about the GOTG.

It's Marvel ....so gets cut alot of slack by critics and fans.
On par with Thor TDW and Ultron.
