It's a meh sequel to an ok movie.
I'd write a wall of text explainin' why... but do I have to? The Pac-man joke says it all.

Yondu's pretty much the only good thing about it. I hope Hot Toys will make a figure.

So is SNIKT1950 the only Feige faithful who stayed loyal to his idol and gave it higher than a 9 out of 10? Seems like a lot of "it was okay" and "it was pretty good" but not a lot of gushing love.

My thoughts exactly.

I loved every second of it. Drax and Groot stole the show and I still want to marry Gamora.

This is the beauty of individuality :)
I agree 'that part' was questionable for me too but I loved the film.
My wife loved it too and she's hates sci-fi, apart from Thor (wonder why?) and robot related films.
Yondu hands down wins GOTG2 and fingers crossed an excellent figure will follow

I thought it was a masterpiece. Saw it last night with two my closest buddies. 2 of the three of us were crying(I'm one of them) at the end. I think it's better than the first film in every way and easily the best of the marvel films. This is coming from someone who had to be calmed down by his wife during the third act of the first Avengers film lol. Being a father, the film reasonated even more for me. I loved all of the "new"(even though some appeared in the first film) characters. Yondu was amazing. I loved Mantis, Ego, Nebula. All of the returning characters(especially Drax) were magnificent.

The most brilliant shot of the film for me was the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where Yondu is teaching a teenage Peter Quill how to fire a weapon. It added an absurdly important layer to both those characters that makes the film all the more brilliant. Yondu adopted Quill to protect him and in the process experienced fatherhood.

GOTG2 is absolutely a character piece first and foremost that cares very little about action in favor of further exploring its cast.

Went to see it last night. Although not as good as the first, i really enjoyed it. I found it to be slightly too long though.

Introduction of some characters really makes me wonder if Marvel worked out a deal for cosmic FF characters.

Interesting that the last superhero movie I saw -Logan- was probably the most uncompromising comic movie I have seen. But the next one I saw -GOTG 2- was among the safest I've seen. Up there with Avengers 2 or, if it counts, Force Awakens.

Just saw it. Thought it was a fine exploration of the characters introduced in the first film. Glad that the emphasis here was more on story and character. It was funny, it was exciting, and it was interesting. That's enough for me. 9/10

Gunn clearly went ESB on this. I think that was the first line of my review.

I can see him pressing his point to the Disneycrats: go with character stories and split them all up. It worked for Empire.

What these characters need now is a great enemy. A Vader. I doubt very much that Thanos will live up to the intended hype.

Saw it today and it was awesome, GOTG Vol. 2 is a fun and entertaining movie! :rock

I took 20 students from the comic book club I sponsor and I asked them what they thought and they loved it! We went to eat afterwards and we all talked about our favorite scenes, characters and of course the music. :D

My wife and I enjoyed it. I love the music in this one too. Especially George Harrison and the Fleetwood Mac songs. Yondu was awesome in the fact he makes rocket accept who he is and finally tells peter what he meant to him all these years. Great character to bring the overall team together. Plus drax was hilarious. Nice to see Kurt play a celestial whore spreading his Captain Kirk seed throughout the galaxy

My friend, who helped me chaperone the kids, said nearly the same thing. :lol

I don't think there is any hype...yet.

I should have said expectations.

I for one am expecting quite the villain since I've been hearing about this guy since Avengers in 2012. If he isn't Darth Vader level evil, he's an instant fail. Given Marvel's track record of villains, I doubt they will give us anything close to Vader-level villainy.

So Thanos is a pre-fail. :lol
