For the three-day frame, Guardians will take first place with just under $10 million. This will be its fourth weekend in the top spot: The Dark Knight, Avatar and The Hunger Games are the only other movies to accomplish such a feat in the past decade.

Just saw GOTG for the third time and I enjoy it more everytime I see it. Love this film!!
Also got me wondering about one thing:

Did Rhomann Dey have anything to do with Groot being revived? Some scenes show him in his home and there are plants and pots everywhere. Clearly the guy has some kind of gardening hobby.

After Ronan gets zapped, the film goes almost right into the scene where it's explained that Quill is only half-Terran and Rocket walks in with potted Groot as well. Dey is with him when he walks in. That kind of made me think that maybe Dey wanted to show his grattitude by using his mad gardening skills yo, to revive Groot? It just seems that a few scenes were cut in between Ronan's zappening and Rocket walking in with potted Groot... Anyway, just a thought. :wave

After four non-consecutive weekends at #1 (and two weekends in second place), Marvel and Walt Disney Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy finally dropped to third place, while also crossing the $300 million mark domestically, the first movie of 2014 to do so. It took in $8 million over the weekend in 3,104 theaters down just 22% from the previous weekend for a domestic total of $306 million.

On top of that, “Guardians” opened in Japan this weekend to score $2.1 million in its first two days, which is more than the Japan openings for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World. That contributed to the blockbuster’s $9.3 million grossed overseas this weekend which took its international gross to a similar amount of $305.6 million and over $600 million worldwide. The movie is still to open in China and Italy, but so far, it’s one of the few summer blockbusters that has done equally well domestically and overseas.
