You know Marvel has arrived to mainstream culture when my 66 year old dad (who has never even cared for superheroes, etc.) asked me the other day "so captain America fights ironman now?" haha I died. He said he saw that somewhere on tv.

Word. I saw Fury with my 67 year old dad and as the credits rolled he jokingly said, "so are they going to do something after the credits like a Marvel movie?"

I was just watching the Avengers and when Loki turns people into his minions with the spear, the energy acts almost exactly like the energy from the infinity gem in this movie. So I guess the Gem in the spear is probably the mind gem. Why would Thanos give that away?

Well Yes but he didnt get either in the end.... it seems strange to risk one gem to get another. I guess if the Tesseract(reality/space/?) Gem is more powerful than the Mind gem, but it still seems stupid

Anyway my original point being that GOTG should put to a little weight into the mind gem/loki's spear theory

I liked this movie a lot more than Avengers, did that happen to anyone else? I am definitely buying this one (I didn't buy avengers or any of the other Marvel movies)

I like the other movies too but this one is so much more special to me

Nope. Not at theatre release anyways, but this definitely has better home rewatch for me already. I've watched Avengers a whopping once at home and never had the urge to see it again. Already seen Guardians once and was thinking about putting it in tonight when all my DVR crap is over. Actually the only Marvel flick I've watched alot at home still remains IM 1 to this day. First Class for Fox and Spidey 2 for Sony.
Now DC otoh ....

I saw avengers at the theater, then twice at home. But the second time at Home I ended up forwarding on a lot of stuff. I couldn't see it completely I just wanted to see the end battle.

I cannot wait to get Guardians on dvd, It feels like it is going to be one of those classics that you watch over and over like Terminator or Indiana Jones. I am dying to see it again.

I've seen The Avengers 29 times. XD and saving the 30th viewing for a marathon before AOU. While I do think Guardians is fun as hell, I think I can watch Winter Soldier way more than I can with Avengers. I think it's a better movie overall. For me personally, I think the only reason I can't watch Guardians as much is cause it wasn't exactly my ideal Guardians film but that doesn't mean GOTG 2 won't be better. Still an awesome film otherwise. I even remember coming out of the theater a little disappointed cause I expected a little too much out of it. Maybe cause I was so wanting a Captain Marvel movie, I really wanted more of a Kree presence, but like I said, we could always get that in a sequel.

I'm guessing that Starlord & the rest of the GotG don't know about the Cosmic Cube (Tesseract) and Thanos isn't going to just tell anyone. Besides Thanos is probably confident, and powerful enough, to think he can get it back with little effort.

My sentiments the same with Winter Soldier. I prefer it to GOTG. GOTG is still a fantastic movie though.
