I feel you Jose, I just don't think it will spawn an Empire. I did love it!

Maybe, maybe not. But I think it's unfair to suggest that you can't compare it to Star Wars unless it makes a bajillion dollars and sells millions of toys. If you look at the the first film, and this film, they're pretty close in tone, and character. Maybe Star Wars does the character and story a little better, but it's got that old school flavor of story telling.

It's a movie for everyone, but doesn't dumb itself down. It just keeps it nice n simple.

For all my "enjoyment" on the Transformers flicks, I really hope kids grow up from now talking about Pacific Rim over those. This film has a world they can play it. Transformers is just our world with robots.

I hope we get a sequel!
Believe me, this movie has the potential to become some little kid's Star Wars... or Jurassic Park IMO...

Everyone i saw this with last night wanted more from this universe. It just seems like ther is more to explore past present and future.
The whole dinosaurs were the original kaiju, was a cool tidbit i want to know more about.
Excellent job of World building.

Those of you pumped for GODZILLA because of this be warned: It's a much more character-driven film, and darker.

This movie certainly didn't lack in the character driven dept.

It was perfectly dark enough in tone (too dark in lighting though. :lol)

Oh no, Godzilla is going to be Nolan inspired now. :slap

What's next, Godzilla overdosing after hanging out with the twin japanese mothra girls at his hotel room.

I think this has captivated my son's imagination in a comparable way to how I reacted to Star Wars as a kid. As we were driving home, he was talking about what he would put in the sequel and describing the different kinds of kaiju they could show and what weapons you could have in new jaegers. He was eager to explore more of the world that the film created for him. It's great when works of imagination like this spark the imagination and creativity of the kids in the audience.

While I don't think this is nearly on par with the cataclysmic impact SW had on our generation I do agree that it's at least one of the better chances today's kids have had to even understand what that was like.

When we got home last night, my son (10) proceeded to start a big play fight with my daughter's huge German Shepherd (seriously, if she stands up she's taller than him). His reasoning was that she was a Kaiju and he's a Jaeger. Made perfect sense to me. :duff

That's not what I mean.

But I will say someone like Charlie Day or Burn Gorman would have no place in this GODZILLA film. :lol
