Yeah, I wish they showed the coyote tango fight.

Yea, at the end of the day I don't mind to much but why put such emphasis on mechs that don't get any screen time besides a single shot. And all the Kaiju features and posters wasn't really necessary as it really got people excited to see things they were actually never going to see lol I don't mind, as I loved the few we did get in the film, but we didn't see nearly as many as they advertised in the features and posters. But again the ones we did get in the big scenes were awesome, Otachi (spelling?) was the money Kaiju for me, he was by far the coolest of the 7 or so we did see.

Caught a late night session with friends. And one of em walked out before the movie finished. lol

It was ok. Not great. I knew what I was getting into but I'm still unsure how I feel about it and I guess the faults lie in the execution of some ideas. My other friends also had mixed feelings about it.

I didn't have any problems with the main character. I thought he was done well, so was Riku. I liked there dynamic and how they worked in some japanese conservative cuteness to Riku's character.

I couldn't really get absorbed into the fights though there was enough to like. The end was ridiculous though. The sword was such a useful weapon. Why the hell didn't they give that thing a sharp melee weapon earlier. Why not build weapon bunkers complete with more advanced weaponry kinda like Evangelion? Because the Jeagers get there butts whipped, the solution for the governments of the world is to build a wall made out of cinder blocks? What the hell?

I liked Charlie Day as the scientist but that other guy was too much.

So yeah. Character work was mostly good, but some bits in the plot and the way they were handled could've been handled much better. This is not about suspension of belief. I can do that, and I can enjoy a fun movie, but I can't suspend stupidity.

I'll most likely watch it again on cheap ticket Tuesday. Maybe something will click... Maybe I'll finally catch it's drift ;)

Some people are comparing this to Michael Bay Transformers which is just ridiculous. The reason they suck is because they refuse to build upon established transformer characters and fill the movie with pointless humans. The transformers are sentient and have personalities of their own. We don't need these unrelatable humans to help us relate, just make the transformers the centrepiece.

PR is a homage to the Kaiju movies of old and you can tell this movie has heart. It's worth seeing it for that alone imo.

As for how I would rate the movie - 6/10 for me.

Although I will say this....why do people always want action scenes to be over quickly without any suspense?

They use the sword, Kaiju is dead, scene is over. Alright? Next scene, use the sword, Kaiju is dead again, scene over.

You play your best hand last for dramatic effect. If you blow your wad right out of the gate, then what do I have to look forward too?

Intense movie well worth my time! Cant wait for the bluray release! 8/10

Also was it just me or did I spot the Sideshow "S" logo on the ships metal shipping crates that Gypsy Danger picked up to smash the Kaiju with??

Yeah Otachi definitly had the best scenes and was one of the coolest fights. My personal favorite based on design was the category 5. I wish we got to see more of that guy. Especially out of the water.

Just got back from seeing this.

Pretty freaking cool, the visuals were great, the cast was top notch, but I couldn't get into it. Big fan of pretty much everyone cast, but if there wasn't a giant robot dry humping a crab/squid/gator/bat type creature I was just not into it.

Anyways, enjoyed the film for the creatures and robots, loved the diversity in both and I hope Hellboy can find his shoe, can't be easy getting new ones with a foot like a sasquatch. :lol

Picked up my artbook today. Fantastic stuff.

UGH! I went looking for it at barnes and noble and they don't have it nor did they have the prequel graphic novel, such a let down, i've heard both are top notch.

Yeah, the GN is pretty neat. Helps to develop some key characters a bit more, but the art book is fantastic. They put a lot of emphasis on how much GDT loved making this movie, which shows in the art as well.

OMG, just came back from it. I still cant believe this is the same Del Toro that did Pan's Labyrinth and the Devils Backbone that made this giant turd of a movie. **** this was bad, and I mean Bayformers bad.Worst movie I saw this year. That asian girl was such a bad actor, its unbelievable!!! Characters were bland, story was cliché and a big yawn. There was 7 people in the whole cinema and they all looked bored as hell. Not even a good popcorn flick. Sorry for those who like that dumb movie, i guess im looking for a bit more in the entertainment and smarts department when im at the movies.

GDT you sold out and this movie is a T.T. ( Total Turd). Even World War Z was better than this. 1/10 No substance.

Boooooooooooooooo Hisssssssssssss on Shai for hating this film so much :):nana:

Sure it was nothing special but it was better then the Transformer films.

Those scene were nothing we havnt seen yet in other movies. Like I say, nothing in this movie was good.

Boooooooo Hissssss again.... the monster battles were fun!

The human characters cant have some ??????

I will admit there was a moment in the film when I was bored. I did not care about the characters enough to want to watch them when there were no monsters on the screen.

At least Avengers was funny.

:lecture:lecture I agree that the Humor in this film fell flat most of the time.. But some of the jokes were Ok. I don't recall laughing though.
