I agree, that dude Celtic hated MOS.

We had a rotating menu at the casino I used to work at, and every time it was Pacific Rim day, my coworker could not resist telling that joke...

For years! Damn, I miss him. :(

Anyway, resubbing to this thread. Kuzeh's anticipation and fervor is palpable. I'm prolly gonna go after that graphic novel too.

Ordered the hardcover via Amazon along with the first omnibus volume of Lone Wolf & Cub. Been meaning to read that for eons.

Blew out my gift cards on this order, so you're not in trouble yet Jose! ;)

Whoa! This just looks spectacular. And on top of that, it has all the elements to become one of my favorite films. Great cast, none too well known, Del Toro!, giant robots, and kaiju...

I'm feeling this one is going to be viewed multiple times by myself. Starting with a 3D IMAX viewing right off the bat. Glad I have a friend working at the theater, because I'm going many times.

I think this movie looks right up my alley. I just don't think it will be that successful at all, unfortunately.

You know what...
PR situation reminds me a bit to what happened with Avatar... nobody knew much about it when it was coming out... the Avatar preview @ IMAX was a bit of a fiasco, as not a lot of people showed up.
Then 2 weeks before the movie opened, lots of people where like... "What's up with this?"
Nobody had a clue about it...

Now... Obviously this is a different movie, and I'm not comparing them since I haven't seen it, but I really hope it's becomes a hit!

I think people have been getting the Transformers / Battleship vibe out of this, all to Pacific Rim's disadvantage.

I'm with you on this. And I wouldn't compare it too much to Avatar myself, only because I don't really dig Avatar. And I really want to dig this in a big way.

Quite true, unfortunately. Those of us who know Del Toro's work, know better.
