Broke and happy
We only got Hellboy 2 because the DVD sales for Hellboy were very good. It was not very successful in theaters prior to that.
Both bombed.
HB2 really bad.

Who is a Starship Trooper (1) fan?

I loved them both
I think part of the problem has been the marketing strategy, and the trailers. The trailers in particular don't do a good enough job of selling the real draw: giant monsters vs giant robots. It's there, yes, but they spend too much time in the trailers on the human stuff... which I know will be fine in the actual film, but in the trailers plays like a huge cheese fest (Idris Elba's rally speech is absolutely painful in the trailers). There is no relatable context. They should have gone a different route.
Also, in a trailer don't point out that the robots are controlled by two pilots connected via telepathic sync without explaining WHY. Otherwise, it comes across to people as a weird, goofy, contrived element.
Really? Most people are complaining that it looks too much about robot/monster mindless mayhem and no human characters...
Do people really need that in a trailer? I don't think so...
Weird? maybe... contrived? a little... goofy? not really...
I think GDT is a much better director than Nolan... but hey... that's just me...

It's weird, but I get chills when Idris yells "we're canceling the apocalypse"
