The sculpt on Emma was there, the paints were FAR off. It was sculpted by adam Beane, I am pretty sure he knows what he is doing ;)

Leaps and bounds over emma frost pf though

While that may be so these still haven't captured some of the most basic parts of JSC's style. Now dont't get me wrong I think MJ looks great, but neither MJ or Gwen have the right facial bone structure to really come close to approximating the design art.

Spidey, I love you like an anonymouse internet poster, but I dont know what you think your seeing/not seeing here.

They look spot on to the source material.

Gwen is a real artistic risk, and I think they have pulled it off. Heck, all three pieces are a bit risky, but they have such an interplay, that I think missing a piece out of this set will really be felt.

I agree. I'm not seeing anything off with either Gwen or MJ sculpts.

IMO, Sideshow nailed them both. :peace

You know i have aot of annoynamous boardie love for you too TBolt, and you Snoopy, but these aren't even in the same neighbourhood to "spot on" IMHO. I really don't want to go on and on about it guys because people are excited about this piece and they just ordered it, but while the bodies have everything the design art did, the faces have very few of the elements of J Scott's basic style in them, and for me THAT is where most of an artists style will show up.

I can tell most of my favorite artists by simply looking at how they constructed the faces of their characters. Adams, Buscemia, Keown, Romita Sr, Reis, Benes, Perez, and Lee (I am missing many here) all construct their facial features with a different style that makes them all distinct to the general public. Actually, I remember hearing an interview with Lee where he basically just said that his style is simply a "short hand" he uses to draw a face or a hand. For me that short hand is MOST evident in a characters face, and I can identify most if my favs onsite unless they are intentionally deviating from their normal style. To put it simply if I was to look at these statues, and not know J Scott was attached to them, I would never be able to guess who's work these were based off of. IMHO too much of J Sott's short hand (wide jaw, short button nose, etc) is missing, and IMO Gwen suffers the most from it.

I don't meant to piss people off, but that is just my opinion based on loving his work and studying it since he was a 16 year old working at Homage studios during the early Image days.

2D drawing to 3D statue.

To say you dont see J Scotts inspiration here...I mean, thats your opinion. I happen to disagree.

I find them instantly recognizable and "Spot on" to the source material that inspired them (again, my subjective opinion).

I think they have done an excellent job bringing them to life, and I am betting J Scott Campbell would agree on that point.

There will always be deviations going from drawing to sculpt though, so not sure why this one doesnt ring true for you, a spiderman aficianado (the comiquette your chasing is no different), but there it is.

Hope you either get the one your after or they bring something out more to your tastes. This group works just fine for me though.

2D sculpt to 3D sculpture should not change many of the basic facial proportions, but ...Yeah... Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and while I am VERY HAPPY for all those that love this line, and find it to be a home run, I, unfortunately, am not in love with it. Trust me I know it would be way easier, and cheaper to simply buy these and be happy with them. However, while MJ looks great in my opinion, the others two do not fully get it done for me. I wish to god they did. With that I am done, I won't go on and on, it isn't fair or necessary.:lecture

P.S. as for chasing the original Com... Well THAT has an amazing Canale sculpt, and MASSIVE presence, and he will look awesome next to Batman and Superman, and not like the action figure cousin....:yess:

And no nose.

This is all subjective. Pretty sure you just went on record as liking the Vision PF...so...yeah...subjective.

Lol... I just added a bit to my post there...lol. As for the Vision I like the upper body... The lower body is incredibly weak, and the Ex is ABSOLUTELY the WORST... A print would have been better....lol. However, the general craftsmanship is nice actually, and if I was going for a complete Avengers line I wouldn't hesitate to get a regular. However, as with many things in life my opinion is subjective, and nothing more.

Looks like Tbolt is on your arse there Spidey. Gotta love those member that'll follow you and track your past post...:cuckoo:

TBolt and I are cool M8. I have a lot more to say, but after literally dogging the GL thread only to be proven wrong when the better photos came out... Well... I have learned my lesson. My opinion may be justified, but it doesn't make me right.

In the end though I think TBolt is just trying to convince himself he loves this line so he doesn't go looking for the original (and still champion) Spiderman Comiquette.. :wink1::rotfl

The word is no Ex for MJ or Gwen and Spidey will come with a print picturing all three of them for the Ex for him.

Just had a proper look at this after receiving another email about her...
What's with the rain on the brolly? Looks bad imo :slap

I don't think the guy who mentioned the prints was serious either :dunno

My comment was intended to make fun of a marketing ploy. I have no insights into the Spidey EX and didn't mean to start any rumors.
