you know, perhaps taking a cue form SST and just posing them as they are in the photos will be enough to suggest a height difference?

The reason Luke looks smaller is because of the old forced perspective trick of human visual perception, which is helped by the Photo being a 2D image. I doubt posing them in the deceptive way that Sideshow have wiil have the same effect.

Actually, the Stormtroopers are on the armored bodies, not the Pro. Comparing armored Obi with the regular Obi, he seemed just about fine. The Han I customized is just about the same height as Smuggler Han so any size differential between the Hans is really non-existant.

Yeah, no I know that the stormtrooper is technically on the armored body, which I tend to lump in with the pro since it was developed around the same time and is essentially the same scale, just offset inwardly to compensate for the armor. My Pro Indy is just marginally shorter than my armored body stormtrooper, who is slightly taller because I have the helmet barely resting on the neckpost so that he actually has a neck. By comparison when I placed my buck Han back to back with the armor body trooper, Han was definitely a bit taller, maybe 1/4". Relatively speaking it's a negligible difference, depending on one's ...attention to detail ... but it is there.

For the guy who was concerned about Vader's height: don't be. at 14 inches he is a full head taller than a stormtrooper. :rock

Nah, I'm not worried about it. Vader will be fine regardless of who he stands next to. :rock

if the helmets fit over Luke & Han heads... then it be a nice deal... you can Pose it next to Vader or as Luke & Han as Stormtroopers... but its not going :(

First time seeing this image, Was it previously released on the Sideshow website?:)

So it seems that Trevor is the artist. So Oluf's comment about sculpting two heads that fit under helmets remains to be seen. Hmmmmm.....

Luke and Wedge X-Wing stylee.... unless he did a version of L+H in Stormy costumes and it looked too pin headed?

After that photo was taken, there was major futzing and folding of the chest piece to make him look more presentable. Capice?! :lol

I don't think you need to freak out on people. We get it's a WIP, but what you're missing, at least for me, is the point is, your WIP is likely what production from SSC would look like. Yes your final piece will have mods to make it look better, but heavily reworking a figure is not an option/choice for every collector, a solid looking piece out of the box with relatively minor futzing is the ideal goal for the majority of collectors, and to come out like your unfinished work would be a bad looking out of the box figure and correct height or not, the Luke in this set looks nice compared to how he could look with a slightly shortened body and no armor worked to cater to the smaller body for a better aesthetic.

Well the key terms are right there, 2 heads to fit under helmets, no way these heads could ever fit with that hair.

I'd say Oluf probably did a Temura Morrison portrait for Jango Fett and Commander Cody.

Could always be a play with words, swappable heads for characters whose heads in the movie can fit under helmets but the figures are designed to just swap.

Oh I forgot to check. Han just looked like an Oluf to me so I assumed it was. Interesting.... I had a feeling these were not the figures he was alluding to... Curiouser and curiouser. :D

Almost time for the pre-order and I still haven't made up my mind. Curse my indecisiveness! :banghead

I think you just need to shhhhhhhhhhhhh. :lol Really bro, I was laughing when I typed that. You're taking it more seriously than I did. If people don't want the mod, I don't care. Just like I didn't care about the Gimli DiD mod. It's something I did for myself to achieve something that I personally find satisfactory. Hell, that pic wouldn't even have been posted here initially (waaaaaaaay back in the Stormtrooper thread) if Pix hadn't nudged me to do it. If another freak wants to do the same, great! If they don't, I don't care. I don't think you'll find a single post from me bashing someone who wants to keep them the same size. :huh

But looking at it a bit, some of the people who say they wouldn't want that, would likely be defending it to death wholeheartedly if it had been released by Sideshow looking just like that! :lol

Almost time for the pre-order and I still haven't made up my mind. Curse my indecisiveness! :banghead

Well, you could always pre-order it and then chew it over until the processing alert. :huh Better to have it secured while still deciding than to not order it and have it sell out when you finally decide you want it. :p

Yup, there's almost 3 months to figure out if you can afford these or not, definitely worth preordering to secure it for yourself and make the big decision when you absolutely must.

Absolutely, place the order, it's better to have done so than regret it later!

Unless as someone pointed out, it was a rejected sculpt/idea?? How exactly does Sideshow commission the sculpts? Are several artists told to sculpt, let's say a Han and Luke, and then Lucas picks the ones they want????

That happens in some cases it would seem, as Mat Falls and Andy Bergholtz both submitted ESB Luke portraits.

I would think though, that Oluf wouldn't comment unless he knew the portraits he was referring to were approved. Sideshow starts things way in advance sometimes so he could have done them awhile back and we just aren't seeing them used yet.

Without seeing these in hand yet, I can't say, but it's possible they're just modified versions of Trev's existing Luke and Han portraits like they did with German Indy.

In case any of you need hi-res pics before making your decision, don't forget to use this link https://www.sideshowtoy.com/prod_photos/jpg/2179_press01.jpg and simply change the last number (01, 02, 03, etc.) after "press" to view the whole set. Man, I sure hope the paint on the eyes is better on the production than they are on the prototypes. The ice blue eyes makes them look lifeless.

Too lazy to look back through the threads, but does anyone know what the purpose of the fake apple is in the last pic (first link below)? Could it possibly be SS's way of saying "See, we stuck this apple here to show you that Luke is the same height as Han; he is just not as close to the camera as Han so that is why he appears shorter."? Lame excuse, but I can hear it now. However, pic 13 (last link below) does not support that argument as they are side by side and Luke is actually out in front of Han and still "appears" shorter. I'm not holding my breath that Luke is shorter. I'm sure they'll be the same height. Too bad though, SS could have knocked them out of the park with a little height difference.

Good luck to all ordering. I'm on the fence about these, but will probably place an order for them and cancel later if I talk myself out of keeping them. Rather be safe than sorry & regret not ordering them.

Thanks again for posting that Hi Res link! I had forgotten about that! Maybe the Apple is the exclusive! :rotfl

If they are heads that fit under helmets don't look for Troopers of any kind because heads that fit under would mean undersized sculpts or oversized helmets. X-Wings are a possibility since those looks slightly oversized to begin with but I think we are thinking out of the box enough to what could be referred to as a "helmet".
