Do the Non-Attendee's ship before or after the con?

It depends. The last couple of years some items have started shipping a week or two before the Con. In other times, it's been the week or two after. Personally, I think that NA's should have to wait. :monkey3

So showing differing heights qualifies as getting "artsy"? :lol

I think they're just simply taking pics of them from different angles with the figures at different angles. They're done or seem done with a different style than normal at least to me. I call that artsy but thats just me.

Seriously? Is there a picture out there that gives honest perspective? Considering that there isn't, I'd say that proves otherwise.

Yeah, seriously.

Is that the best insult you got? I mean if that is then you got some work to do. :lol

No sweetheart. I'd never insult someone suffering from Battered Woman Syndrome. :monkey3 :p

Actually, you pretty much admitted to the point I was trying to make about the production pics making Luke look smaller and Han taller. How come there aren't any pics of the two shoulder to shoulder or back to back? Part of the thing I never liked about advertising is the word "scheme" as it denotes some form of deception. Unfortunately, in this case, that's exactly what was intended. Does it detract from the quality of the figures we're getting? Not enough to turn me away, but it seriously soured the mood when IJ posted the truth that was being so cautiously disguised in the production pics.

Okay, I was thinking they shipped before, but then I wasn't sure. I only bought one SDCC exclusive before (Aayla) and I put myself on the waitlist after the con so I couldn't use that as reference. I'd actually prefer them to ship afterwards since it'd give me a bit more time to save.

As to the first part. ok

If they really tried to hide it do you think Brant would admit it at all? I mean there are things I've done that my parents don't know about and I'm not going to admit it just because.

That's an interesting question, but there's nothing like putting someone on the spot about something to get an honest answer. He was ambushed by the question. Also, you gotta consider, how much of an impact do you really think he thought it was gonna have on the 30 people that were in chat yesterday when he said that? As opposed to the thousands who still don't know? The question to ask is, why don't they put that on the product page? Why didn't they put that in the PPO announcement email? Hell, it's still not to late to let everyone know. It's not like they've never done that before. We got an email about the green Subject 1025, remember that?

As you already know, I'm all about defending Sideshow when it comes to releases where they may have gotten a little wrong, but they're up front about it (Utapau). But this was blatantly intended deception. Again, how come there are no shots of them side by side or back to back? Would've been just as visually appealing as the deceiving shots. I call it like I see it. In this case, it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, because it is.

He wasn't ambushed by the question. He answers them in turn. If he/SS wanted to avoid it you just skip the question. Its really that easy and as far as the impact he knows the amount of boards it would hit and that would be more than 30 people. I think more is being made about this than really needed.

Also I've had the pleasure of knowing Brant and the folks at SS for a while. They're not the type of folks that look to deceive people on purpose.

It's interesting that with all this talk about scale issues that no one seems too concerned that the pro body is a bit shorter than the buck so that Han in stormtrooper gear will be shorter than the ANH Smuggler Han figure on the buck and likewise with ANH buck Obi-wan. I know that the scale isn't that far off, but buck Han is taller than my pro stormtrooper by a solid 1/2 inch or so.

Also I know the scale issue here is mostly about photographic deception, but with the switch to the pro body the scale relation within the entire line has been changed. So you know ... glass half empty, half full, whatever.

Pixletwin raised a thread dedicated to this issue in the Ask Sideshow section and according to one of the more recent Q&A's, some upcoming figures are supposed to show the scale issue being addressed as well as a Production Blog update on the upgrades.

You can't be blamed for giving your friends the benefit of the doubt. Makes me sense to me now why you've being unmovable in your position on this. I'm sure I'd be the same way.

I think you overestimate the spread of information. If you knew the unique visitors to the Star Wars forum, I think that's roughly the amount of people that have this juicy little tidbit of information. I myself had to spread the info to another board today. Besides a lot of people don't read, they just like to look at the pretty pictures. We are Sideshow FREAKS after all, gobbling up every morsel of info, not everyone is that fanatical.

They may not like to deceive people on purpose but it's hard to argue that this time they didn't say "Just put Luke in the back, he'll look shorter".

This IS a big deal, because Luke is supposed to be shorter. This Luke will be taller than the other Lukes we have already, and he's in a uniform in which its defining factor is that it's shorter than others. They've talked about designing a modular body that can be used for different heighths, but given the opportunity, have not acted on that key selling point. They're charging us more money for a better body, but we're really not gaining many of the benefits.

Ah yeah, I forgot I ran across that thread a while back. Although all things considered, I don't mind the "new" pro scale. It seems a bit more in tune with Hot Toys and even Medi. Although if they "correct" the scale issue, does that then mean that the stormtroopers, Vader and perhaps Lando will be the lone figures out of scale with the old bucks and improved pros? Again not a huge deal, but I would almost rather they just go forward with the scale they are at with the pros, it kind of marks the transition point in the line, but that might be a thought more related to Pix's thread.
