Ah yeah, I forgot I ran across that thread a while back. Although all things considered, I don't mind the "new" pro scale. It seems a bit more in tune with Hot Toys and even Medi. Although if they "correct" the scale issue, does that then mean that the stormtroopers, Vader and perhaps Lando will be the lone figures out of scale with the old bucks and improved pros? Again not a huge deal, but I would almost rather they just go forward with the scale they are at with the pros, it kind of marks the transition point in the line, but that might be a thought more related to Pix's thread.

Vader should be fine, he looks gigantic in all the images they've posted of him with other figures, if anything he could benefit from the other figures raising up a hair. Lando could be ok a little shorter than others, or who knows, he was slated for late in the year, maybe he'll be on the modded.

You can't be blamed for giving your friends the benefit of the doubt. Makes me sense to me now why you've being unmovable in your position on this. I'm sure I'd be the same way.

That's all very true.

I think you overestimate the spread of information. If you knew the unique visitors to the Star Wars forum, I think that's roughly the amount of people that have this juicy little tidbit of information. I myself had to spread the info to another board today. Besides a lot of people don't read, they just like to look at the pretty pictures. We are Sideshow FREAKS after all, gobbling up every morsel of info, not everyone is that fanatical.

Well, I think you underestimate it as well. Things spread over the net quite quickly. I think I have a pretty good idea who visits SW forums seeing as I've posted at places like Rebelscum, Coreplanets, and am a mod at Sandtroopers. So as I stated I've got an idea. Which is really the only folks that will give a damn any at all and most of those I think in the end won't be that bothered.

They may not like to deceive people on purpose but it's hard to argue that this time they didn't say "Just put Luke in the back, he'll look shorter".

I really don't think they where like lets do this to trick them.

This IS a big deal, because Luke is supposed to be shorter. This Luke will be taller than the other Lukes we have already, and he's in a uniform in which its defining factor is that it's shorter than others. They've talked about designing a modular body that can be used for different heighths, but given the opportunity, have not acted on that key selling point. They're charging us more money for a better body, but we're really not gaining many of the benefits.

I think as they do more figures on this body they will have the modular aspect working.

There is no way this batch of relative newbs can handle your prowess with the multi-quote Josh, when will they learn!? :dunno

:lol

.... and no interest in these <---- me staying on topic/target. :sick

:nono I simply will not hear that excuse anymore.

They've had years to work on the armor bodies (including help from Hot Toys). Why are they not modular now?

I can't wait for the excuses to begin when they finally release their first Chewbacca (in the year 2017). "Well, this is their first figure with fur. Give them some time to work things out." :lol

When I say working on it I mean currently working on it as figures are in development.

That doesn't make any sense to me. Either you want your bodies to be modular, or you don't. And if you do, they should have been ready to work modularly from the start.

Again, they have had years to figure this stuff out. The excuse that simply cannot fly anymore is "time".

The figure is made to be modular. It is modular if I understand correctly. So them not doing it on this figure has nothing to do with if it is or isn't This figure probably wasn't done for the simple fact they'd have to tweak the armor and I'm sorry Nam's doesn't look like something I'd want in my collection.

Yeah, that was my understanding too, that the body is actually modular, they just haven't used it as such yet. It seems strange that they haven't considering what a big deal the modularity was in both the design of the pro and the smaller "Hobbit" pro.

It's interesting that with all this talk about scale issues that no one seems too concerned that the pro body is a bit shorter than the buck so that Han in stormtrooper gear will be shorter than the ANH Smuggler Han figure on the buck and likewise with ANH buck Obi-wan. I know that the scale isn't that far off, but buck Han is taller than my pro stormtrooper by a solid 1/2 inch or so.

Also I know the scale issue here is mostly about photographic deception, but with the switch to the pro body the scale relation within the entire line has been changed. So you know ... glass half empty, half full, whatever.

Actually, the Stormtroopers are on the armored bodies, not the Pro. Comparing armored Obi with the regular Obi, he seemed just about fine. The Han I customized is just about the same height as Smuggler Han so any size differential between the Hans is really non-existant.

Okay people, for the last time:

lIT WAS A WORK IN PROGRESS
IN THAT PICTURE!

:lol :lol :lol

Immediately after finishing the body mod, I quickly reassembled the body, redressed him and posed him next to Han to ask Marc (Pixletwin) if he thought the height differential was good enough. After that photo was taken, there was major futzing and folding of the chest piece to make him look more presentable. Capice?! :lol

easy enough to shut em down by taking a finished pic, nam. :p

While easier to just cut out a bit of torso, depending on positioning, wouldn't he look a tiny bit odd next to Han having the same length arms and being the same height from belt down?

That's the problem. :lol I need to find some time to redo him. When Sideshow posted pics of theirs, I also assumed Luke would be shorter than Han and recombooberated the custom back into a regular Stormtrooper. So when I get some time, I'll do just that, but I've been busy mailing out magazines and this weekend is SuperCon, so I just need to find the time :(. As for the limbs, it's really only as noticeable as the errors still remaining on the revised Utapau helmet.

For the guy who was concerned about Vader's height: don't be. at 14 inches he is a full head taller than a stormtrooper. :rock

Regardless, Sideshow has indeed been caught with their hands in the cookie jar here.

What makes it worse is that, had no one explicitly asked about the height issue in the chat (and had I not quoted the answer on these boards)... we still would not know. And the main image on the actual product ordering page is the worse culprit yet when it comes to the deception.

I love Sideshow, but I'm also the first to speak up when I feel they've done wrong. This is certainly one of those times. The figures being the same height is small potatoes... the (now obvious) deception is not.

Did you ask him why Luke was shorter in the pictures? Or do you only get to ask one?

why not just put him on a Dragon body?

afther thinking about it all day i think im gonna pass on them. Main reason being is that the only OT gigure I have is Boba Fett (vader is on order though), and would much rather have a regular luke and han over storm trooper ones. Although I do like the headsculpts on the figures.

That would be too big of a mod. You'd have to shave down the arms and legs to get the armor to fit over it, then there's transplanting the hands. Additionally, the head would be a nightmare because Dragon neck stumps are attached to the torso, so you'd have to stack everything on Luke's neck, heat the head, stretch out the body suit to expose the stump and hope for the best. :lol I just wanted to do something that was fairly simplistic to achieve a noticeable difference in height between the two. :huh

Though, found out something interesting while searching for a replacement body for my Medicom Stormy. Apparently the armor fits the Pro just fine. So if the pro works with Sideshow's Stormy hands and feet, you guys have another alternative. :D Personally, I'll be sticking with the Sideshow armor as it matches Han's and I want it to look bigger on Luke.
