Just found out that my LCS has the regular on PO for $315 shipped. I would paying around an estimated $120 more with my PO on the EX, but that's still well worth it to me. LOVE THE EX HEAD!!:rock:rock

Take $30 credit off which you'll get back from SS for ordering direct. People never configure that int their premiums for buying EX direct. It adds up bro!

hmm EX still not sold out yet....hope this translates into a low ES :)

This one is NOT going to sell out in a week. They may do a fake sellout after 2 weeks. Honestly, unless they decide to make the ES low, it would take this at least 3 weeks to a month to sell out I think. My guess, they sell out at in about a week with an ES around what the Joker was.

I honestly don't get the logic here.

$10 more to sideshow = evil abomination
$100's more to ebay scalpers = good

CBG Logic defies ALL attempts to be decoded... Give up NOW.

CBG m8 you are not going to get the Ex of this cheaper then you would from SSC m8. I checked the sales of the Joker Ex and only one SS for $40 below retail but the shipping was $150. It just isn't going to happen m8.

If they can make this an ES of 750 for the EX, I wouldn't even mind a Lady Death situation :rotfl

I know inflation. 2-3% per annum. So instead of $270 over a couple years it might be around $286.

Also ES has significantly increased. So $COGS per unit might actually go down (buy material cheaper, higher output per cast, mass produce at lower cost per unit).

Nothing to do with inflation. :lecture

It is a simple price gouge. It makes sense to do it. Doesn't feel nice for us as customers. If someone's not happy about the $10 that's fine. Just means he's paying attention.

Fact is, SS can charge $400. They can double/triple ES sizes. They can lower QC measures. They can delay production and release dates. Because you'll buy it. But there's a point that you won't. For some people that point is $10 more.

Its simple price elasticity of demand. Right now, SS is ramping up prices to identify the sweet spot where they can max profit per unit and hold supply at a level where output and take-rate will be optimal.

In time, this hobby will get to expensive if SS doesn't watch the market.

I have a price point in mind that I will never go over even for $5 its principle and we are getting very close to it :lecture

If it wasnt for flex I wouldnt get some statues... not cause i cant afford it just cause the price in my mind wouldnt be worth it (I can use the excuse about the little payments)

End of the day, this is a frivolous, ridiculously overpriced, niche market hobby. It was overpriced at $299.

But we love it.

Fact is, the higher the cost of entry into this hobby, the less new people will buy into it and start collecting. Hence why there are 25% off first purchase promos and such.

Thing is, once current collectors start phasing out of the hobby over time, the more difficult it will be for SS to maintain (as cost of entry is higher and new collectors decrease). Hence why SS should go to a lower cost per unit with higher ES strategy.

PF: $250-$350
Bust: Legendary Scale $150-$200
Bust: Life Size $400-$750

Price should vary based on detail and true workmanship. Higher cost pieces for premium class collectors should yield lower ES'.

Turn rates will go up. Cost of production down. retention up. New entrants up. Much more of a stable model.

This hobby has a life cycle. Original Star Wars fans like myself are getting into their 40s and 50s. Comic readership is dwindling and marvel/DC are fighting to reignite the market. SS should start thinking past the next 5 years and how they'll attract new buyers to replace us dinosaurs at higher prices. That is of course, if prices keep going up.

In 5 years PF will cost around $600 if price move the way they do and I wouldnt buy one "doll" (older guys will remember when PF first came out many called them dolls, im guilty I did too until i got Fett:monkey3)... I love the droids and would love to pick them up but I refuse to buy them at that price (also my Star Wars are from GG besides Fett)

What you forget is that inflation happens. The cost of everything is up

yes, but fluff such as PFs is by default an elastic good. This isnt food or gas [inelastic good], PFs and all such collectibles are things we can all easily do without.

My guess is we are approaching the upper margin of what the consumer will tolerate... and this goes for Hot Toys too.

People have been saying that for a few years now but it doesn't seem to be affecting either company unfortunately.

I must admit I stopped collecting HT because of there pricing. Not because I can't afford them but for a bit more I could get a PF & HT figure's are grossly over priced IMO :D

Could not have said it any better. :goodpost: great posts.

What is this CBG I keep seeing around DC props/statues?

I think he's kind of a newbie here for a year now. He didn't know too much about the recent comic events after the early 90s, not much on video games, but he does know quite a bit on the 80s toons, and I think he loves the 90s image style art. Oh I think he never reads comics either. He said he likes the art and only looks at the pictures :rotfl But he's still a ok guy I think? So don't get heated if he says thing you don't agree with. :D sometimes that guy does not think before he types. He doesn't even use paragraphs. Tells you how good he was in school right? Just take his comments with a grain of salt then you should be fine. :wink1: oh he also says rob liefeld was one of the best creators who created so many cool characters and sold millions of copies. He may be right on hat one since I'm only a fan of deadpool myself because rob created him along with cable and so many other cool x force characters. I will give him that much credit. ;)

If this is the case I will pay a bit more since it's a bonus. Sad but true. I guess like punisher was a perfecto example. I will convert on that one soon hopefully. Since I did get on the WL a day after it sold out when I was at work. :slap

:goodpost: this all above is very true. I can see it from the Harley statue. Never seen so many that didn't pull the trigger yet. I admit it's a great statue but kind of shock at myself for not pulling the trigger yet either on Harley.

Go points, keep in mind SSC no longer care about CS. plus once a small company like SSC starts to show. Look we made this for this. Others will go, hmm how long before pizza, hamburger, tacos place came after the 1st start to make money.

Ssc needs to rape it's customers based now. As next year like customers there will be more companies.

Sorry even I don't have the ***** as Jeff does to tell a customer he/she is worthless.
