it's my money and no need to lie about what these things cost. iv'e been collecting since i was 16 and working at toys r us, thats when the the addiction began, and some times the wife gets a little crazy with the smart remarks, but i tell her you met me collecting and thats not gonna change. this is who i am. lol:mexwave

I usualy lie about what they are worth.

For example that T-800 only cost's $50.00.:wink1:

Really? What a deal! Thats the exact same price I paid for my MJ:BAD & DX Bats...:lol

Nah, but Im assuming thats how much my folks really think I pay for these figures. I would really get some crazy looks if they knew exactly how much I was shelling out. I can hear my mothers mouth already, if she were to see my bank statement. My G.F doesnt know either, although I couldnt care less if she knew & what she thinks about it. Its no different from her spending almost the same prices (& some) on those ugly ass Coach purses,so she knows not to come at me with the "waste-of-money" speeches...

So in all, yes I do lie/hide the price tags for what these guy cost!

Ask the gf what she's spent on shoes in the past. Trust me. :lecture

Plus I find the people worth keeping around tend to be more interested in conquests and new additions than pricetags. Do what makes you happy and concern yourself only with those who can appreciate said happiness.

My wife and I each have $X each month to spend as we please. I buy toys and comics, she buys clothes. We find this works best for us.

It also doesn't hurt that I handle all the money ...

I'll let this man explain it.

:borg:

What do you mean "the money is hers too" ? When you're married It's ALL hers :lol

What if the conversation went like this though....

Friend: "Wow bud, those are so cool. Where do you get them ?"
You: "Ebay and retailers online."
Friend: "I especially like that T-800. How much are they ?"
You: "$50"
Friend: "That's it ? Cool, I've never done online shopping before so order me one and I'll pay you back"

:lol

Something like that... is definitely a fear of mine. lol

I keep my own separate hobby account that I put a small portion of my paycheck in every week. Any Ebay/Forum sales go in there too.

This works out great for me. Not that I would lie anyway, but this takes those uncomfortable "I see a $400 charge!!!" conversations with my wife out of the picture. I do tell her the truth when she asks, and she does give me a little crap - but hey, it's my hobby money and I always tell her "it's better than me buying heroin and hookers right?" :lol

I used to, and it really detracted not only from my relationship, which is more important anyway, but also to my enjoyment of the figure. I had stolen something from my relationship, and it benefited no one but me.

Bottom line, if you feel compelled to lie about it, it's not worth owning. You have to decide for yourself how much your integrity is worth to you.

Customikey!! Whasup man?? Still diggin that "Springfield Slasher" Freddy custom I bought off you on ebay! :rock

why the hell would I lie about it?

i get too much enjoyment from telling people how much some of this stuff costs, and then looking at the expression of shock/disgust/terror/disappointment on their faces :lol

This is how the conversations with my wife usually go:

"How much was that?"

I give her a look.

"$50?"

I give her a look.

"$75?"

I give her a look.

"$100? Really? More than $100?"

I give her a look.

"Never mind, I don't want to know."

Plasmid, being evasive is technically not lying, but it does sound an awful lot like:

GF: "Oh dear god. How much was that?!"

Lejuan: "About huhmph-aloompa dee five bucks"

GF: "What? How much"

Lejuan: "I said grumph haw muffle five bucks"

GF: "That sounds like a lot"

Lejuan: "Er, yeah, it was a bit"

GF: "R....i..g..h..t..."

:lol

Don't get me wrong, my girl is a keeper :) I was going to cancel a figure the other day, the Kamen Rider Faiz I've had on order since March. In that time I sorta fell out of love with it. She said, "Aw, don't do that - that's one of the ones I really liked".

It's just that as appreciative as she is about my figures, explaining the difference between the two OC Bats will take some finessing before she comes round.

Folks who talk about patience are of course dead right - but being in Oz means I can't get the good deals my American cousins can get 'cause so many folks won't ship OS. And when they do, add $40-50 for shipping. So yeah, my Bats will be around 300-400 all up unless I get real lucky.

Customikey I'm with you - I couldn't bare to have any of my figures be a reminder of my lack of balls and integrity. I'll be up front with my missus for sure - it's just not a conversation I'm looking for. But it might go something like this:

GF: "An iPhone? What the...?

Lejuan: "Well, you've been wanting an upgrade for a while now"

GF: "Hey, this USPS package came for you today"

Lejuan: "Really? No Kidding?"

GF: "R....i..g..h..t..."
