Well I couldn't resist I had ordered Luke and Stormie from bbts and had them shipped once they got them and they arrived today. I took a quick look at them at lunch but can't open them up till after work.

1st Impression they are huge. It's been a long time since I bought a Star Wars Hasbro toy for myself but my 5 year old has a handful and these things looked HUGE when I opened the shipping box. They also look amazing. I like the simple look to the box and if they are collector friendly then that's a plus. Can't wait to open them and see how well they are made. I don't know if I'll buy any more but I am sure my kids will want me too.

They're resetting the toy section at my local Target. The guy I asked for the figures took my name and is supposed to put a Sandtrooper up front for me once they pull them out of the back.... :)

Got my Black figures in! I have to give it to Hasbro... these are just plain beautiful figures all around. Lots of great, useful articulation. Amazing amount of paints and graphics. Tons of thoughtful accessories. If I have any complaints - the paint on my R2 really could be better. It's a bit fuzzy in places and the silver is a little messed up on the side of his dome. So I'll probably be seeking a replacement in person at some point. I also wish they had stands as the Sandtrooper is a bit top-heavy with his backpack. But that's it. They are seriously amazing in every other way. I really hope they keep up this level of care and quality with future waves.

Luke and the Sandtrooper are the best in my opinion. Not impressed with Maul or R2 at all.

If I had no idea what the scale was and saw pictures of just the two of them, I'd assume they were poorly made 3 3/4 versions.

Re: Hasbro legends 6" sw figures

R2 is far better than any 3 3/4" version I've ever seen or owned, which was why I picked him up. It's much better in terms of overall quality when in hand but, like I mentioned, he's too tiny and doesn't even come up to the Sandtroopers belt. Also, the third leg lowers and raises when you turn R2's dome. This isn't a bad idea but it poorly executed. You turn the dome to lower the leg and once it reaches a spot where the leg can support the figure the front of R2's dome ends up facing backwards.

True, but you can keep turning the dome until it is facing forward. If fully extend the leg and then give it anywhere from 5-10 "clicks", then the dome is facing forward when you retract the leg to the right height. Not a perfect mechanism, I agree, but it works.

Have all the sightings of these been at Target? I've had a lot on my mind, so I was thinking about taking a late-night drive to the 24 hour Wal-Mart.

Man, you guys are a tough crowd. Maybe it's different in-hand versus pictures, but these are some of the best quality figures i've seen in this scale. They are incredibly solidly built. They feel quite heavy and of high quality. R2 is not perfect, but he's a TON of fun with all the parts and pieces. As mentioned above, the extending leg thing works well and doesn't inhibit the movement of his head at all if you just keep rotating.

Well hell!! Thank you, Billy Ray! Okay, so he's short.... To be honest the dome thing is what really bugged me so I can deal with the height. :)

I got mine at Target. They've been found at TRU as well, but haven't read any reports of them turning up at WM yet.

I haven't heard of any at WM yet, Ben.

I wonder if R2 would look better with a black wash to dirty him up.

Bummer about no Wal-Mart sightings. I guess I'll just get some sleep.

Funny you should mention that! I used a .05 mechanical pencil to trace around his panels and then smudged it with my finger and an eraser to try to replicate the weathering he has on his feet. It looks a lot better in person than it does in these photos, but I think it really brings out his details a lot better:

R2 looks great, Billy! If I get him, I'll be sure to do the same trick. Or perhaps someone will find a less messy way? This inhibits me from playing with him.

Well due to funds I will have to be choosy. Sandy is already coming via BBTS. I am going to sell some of my 3 3/4 figs to buy any potential figs from the 6 inch line.

I will mostly likely skip the prequel figs and concentrate on my fav characters from the OT (only a select few unfortunately). Still wondering which Vader will be release in the near future? :dunno
