Just saw the episode.
Have to say that one sucked and next week better be really good if I'm gonna continue with this show. Haven't read any of the books and Sean Bean was one of the reasons I wanted to see this. Now, that he's gone I just lost a lot.

That was kind of a punch in the gut. But it was a great and powerful episode, because of the ending (which I didn't see coming). Also I want to see what's happening in Drogo's tent - loved the sound effects. Near the end we're getting some fantasy elements like the zombies and magic - perhaps we'll see live dragons before the end of series 4?

I knew Ned was going to die, but didnt expect it in this episode. I thought it would be in season 2 or something....

Did they just "cut off" the success of this show by killing of Bean?

On the plus side, I like Robb's character and Jon as well. I just wish we could see Jon fight with his brother and kick some Lannister ass. All those blondies better ____in die or im going to hate this story.

great episode! ending was surprising indeed!

and did anyone else hear the Wilhelm scream? lol

Awesome episode! :rock More please! More please! :rock

And to all the facebook posts about how Boromir was killed off and they can't watch the show anymore --->
:rotfl:slap

My biggest gripe is that Stark kind of _____ed out in the end. It would have been better IMO if he just would have told the king to piss off. It would have give the death more meaning

Hahaha. The sweet innocence lost for those who have not read the books. Love it!

Yea, I have no interest in those whining about the outcome of last night's episode. It was excellent drama - it didn't matter if you'd read the books either, the episode was still tremendously powerful.

Wow. I'm so glad I'm waiting until the series is over before reading the book(s) (First book). Had I known what was to happen, it would have had less of an impact on me.

Yep, watched it as it aired last night and I'm still reeling from the end.

There's no denying that Sean Bean was the biggest draw for the show in terms of star power. While I am still shocked and slightly disappointed in his death, part of me admires the series creators for casting their most noticeable / famous actors in the short lived roles (Mark Addy as King Robert and Sean Bean as Ned Starck). Besides Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the rest of the actors are pretty much unknown to me but have done an excellent job.

Well, his daughter Sansa (spelling?) was still in the hands of the Lannisters. Hindsight is 20 /20, but the Meister's (spelling again) to John Snow at the Wall foreshadowed that sometimes we have to suffer in silence.

So much awesomeness. Besides what happened to Ned and the capture of Jaime Lannister, another tidbit of news that shocked me was the revelation that Jorah is the Lord Commander's son.

Man, I love this show. After next week's episode, there will be a void until season 2 comes.

Last night's episode was amazing... I really did not think the ending would go down the way it did. Gotta like a series that is not afraid to axe major characters like that... bummer we only have one more episode before the long winter before season 2 :monkey2

And let me tell you that it didn't matter knowing what was going to happen - it was still a tremendously impactful scene. I loved the way Versys and the Queen were shocked as well, and rushing to try to stop Joffery and his stupidity.

Joffery has started down his own spiral of disaster. If the Starks don't get him, the Lannisters and his own council will - his mother, Tywin, and the council aren't going to put up with a boy king they can't control.

I had the same thoughts... he's definitely not making the "powers that be" happy with a move like that :lol

So when can we stop with the spoilers when discussing last night's episode?

Yes, and they'll only be less pleased when they find out that Jamie is captive and they've lost their best bargaining chip.

I don't think the viewer is meant to "like" the outcome. That's what makes it so engaging. You hope and wait for the grand payback. :rock

Well of course but I can understand it from both sides. It is a great show, well written and awesome characters. It strikes a blow however when you got Sean Bean playing a badass character who basically gets owned for the entire show and cannot get payback. I feel like they did not build up the rest of his family yet for you get into them, as they did with Ned. Of course you want the payback but it doesn't feel as sweet as it should.

Now I wouldn't mind if the white walkers and their zombies just come in and kill everyone.

I dunno, I think in the last couple of episodes they have really highlighted Robb and his sidekick (don't know his name) and where I did see Ned's death as a shock. . . Im confident Robb and his sidekick will finish the job.

And there is always Jon who is almost as much of a badass as Ned was, that could lead if they fail.

Although, Im ready for Aria to start kicking ass. . . have to say, she is prolly my favorite character.

He got owned by the Lannisters because he failed to play the Game of Thrones. In the end, he did something far braver and stronger than any Lannister, and he did it for the best reason possible - the love of his daughters. It's exactly what Aemon and Jon were discussing. Aemon asked him what his father would do if it came between duty and honor, or his children, and Jon said he'd do what was right. I think he did.
