My girlfriend showed me this awesome violin cover of Childish Gambino's "Heartbeat" and this guy has phenomenal cover of the Game of Thrones theme. Fantastic.

I just finished episode 3. Can someone give me some justification, real justification without spoilers as to why I should continue watching?

I don't want to go on a negative rant because i know there are fans in this thread so I'll save my whining and say i think the production value is amazing, costumes, sets, cinematography all astounding, but all in all I personally, for whatever reasonb find this show incredibly boring, dialogue wooden and the characters convoluted and the plot slow moving, not difficult to follow just really difficult to care about i.e. not relateable or terribly interesting to me.

But this show is raved about. I don't want to quit if it picks up and gets good but as of the end of EP3, im struggling to keep my eyes open never mind keep my mind from wandering.

If i don't like it thus far should I even bother to continue?

Mad Men is the best show on TV and one of the top five series that's ever been on the boob tube.

Now this I agree with.

For me the Sopranos cannot be topped in terms of truly interesting, complex and deep characters with storylines with endless layers to them. But Mad Men has as deep and interesting characters and as beautiful production.

Breaking bad is as (if not more) gripping and as addictive as meth! And wonderfully written and the acting is truly second to none.

My top three shows of all time thus far are Mad Men, Breaking Bad and the Sopranos with a loving nod to the X-Files but obviously it's nowhere near the caliber.

These shows make me want to watch the next episode (Mad Men strangely show because it is quite slow in many ways, but it has that element that I find missing from Game of Thrones so far. I just don't care about ANYTHING in GOT but with Mad men there was at least a little to care about from the first scene until i truly cared about everything halfway through the first season.

With GOT it feels like a chore to watch.

Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire are shows I loved but it felt like a chore to watch them too. I'm glad I do/did and glad i stuck with them even though I often wanted to quit out of boredom I found it rewarding in the end but neither are series im eager to rewatch anytime soon like I do with Mad men and the Sopranos.

For me it's not about period type stories. I found Rome incredibly amazing and addicting.

Really wondering if Game of Thrones will pay off...

I'd recommend you stop watching. If you found Deadwood a chore, then you're not going to find this any different.

Agreed...TV watching should be pleasurable and not a chore. You are probably better off choosing a different program.

On a side note Michael, I did watch every episode of Deadwood. And while I enjoyed the series overall, I think GOT has a much more interesting narrative (just my personal opinion...definitely a subjective choice for sure).

So I am about half way through book 4. I cannot wait for them to get to book 3, well I hope they make it that far. This story kicks so much ass. That is all.

I like GoT better than Deadwood too, but I don't think that if you're not hooked on GoT by the third episode, you probably aren't going to enjoy it.

Book 3 is probably the best overall book of the series so far, but I gotta say that I'm really looking forward to season 2. They have some terrific opportunities for Tyrion to shine this year - can't wait!

Plus it's good that it really builds up to an event for the end of the book.

Other people have said book 2 is the worst out of them, but I don't think so, I thought it was great. Of course book 3 is amazing if just for the WTF of every character.

I'm currently reading "Dance with Dragons" (Book 5) and thought books 2 & 3 were the most compelling. Not that 4 and 5 are bad, just that I could not put 2 & 3 down until it was finished. My favorite chapters involve Jamie Lannister and Brianne. Also find Davos the Onion Knight very intriguing. Can't wait to see the last two brought to life via casting.
