Plus it's good that it really builds up to an event for the end of the book.

Other people have said book 2 is the worst out of them, but I don't think so, I thought it was great. Of course book 3 is amazing if just for the WTF of every character.

Book 2 the worst out of the entire series so far? That has to be coming from folks that haven't read the latest installment ('A Dance with Dragons' was by far the worst of the lot so far...it was so in need of a better editor and Martin really seems to be floundering with the series at this point. Hopefully with the last 1 to 2 books left (supposedly) characters will be set back on track and the story itself will start coming together better)). *crosses fingers*

:exactly::goodpost:

Overall, Books 1-3 were fantastic. Books 4 and 5 (which were supposed to be one book initially) are long and meandering and not a whole heck of a lot happens compared to the first three books. Add in the fact that it took 10+ years to get Books 4 and 5 published and I was extremely let down. I hope GRRM gets back on track with Books 6 and 7 but I think he has expanded the world so much and introduced so many characters now that it is going to be impossible to manage. Well, we only have another 10+ years to wait. :lol

Definitely agree about 1-3. Not finished with 4 yet, I don't mind it but it just doesn't seem to have the flash and appeal of the other three. The problem is he is building a heck of a lot up but it doesn't seem like anything gets resolved. So I really hope 6 and 7 actually do something.

The division of character chapters between books 4 & 5 does not help either. Especially if your favorite characters are in one of the books and not the other.

Book 4 was a killer, so slow... Book 5 is far better thus far (about 1/3 in). Have to try and get it finished before Book 5 Part 2 hits next month!

When I was reading book 4 I thought it was pretty slow but in retrospect I liked it, if that makes any sense. Currently reading ADWD, I really like the certain chapters and others kind of bore me.

Books 4 & 5 are paced much more leisurely, but I would never go as far as saying it's boring. The characters are still well written and developed, but definitely missing the plot advancement of Books 1-3.

watched the first season this weekend. I think it was excellent. can't wait for season 2.

I want Arya to kick everyone's ass and take the throne.

I thought about buying this, but since HBO tends to cancel things after 2 or 3 seasons I may wait till they sell all the seasons together. Maybe I'll have the books read by then.

Rumor has it seasons 3 & 4 are going to be greenlit (with the intent of splitting the longer third book over two seasons).

If this indeed comes to pass, look for an official announcement shortly after the April 1st season 2 debut.

Just a rumor, mind you ... but one I think has a very high probability of coming true ... ;)

I really hope they do this because 3rd season would be lame if they rush through a lot of stuff.

They really do need to cover book three over 2 seasons, there's too much in it for just 10 episodes and some of the most important events, such as the Red Wedding.

Only 1 month to go till season 2 starts, can't wait.

Can't wait 'til 4/1.

Broke two of my rules today and picked up the Game of Thrones: Season 1 Blu-Ray set from Best Buy.

I never buy a television series collection on its first week of release, as invariably you can get them almost 50% cheaper during certain sales, and when I do buy them, I usually buy them through Amazon, not a brick and mortar store.

But I couldn't pass up the Blu-Ray set. Even though I'm firmly in the House Stark camp :rotfl, I picked up the exclusive House Targaryen limited edition sigil packaging. While House Stark's dire wolf sigil is awesome in its own right, here's something about the red dragon on the black background that appeals to me...

I got the paperweight with my 20% discount voucher I found inside the Blu-ray. It looks quite nice next to the blu-ray on my shelf
