Probably too expensive and less sustainable. I would like to think that Sideshow cares about the environment at least a little...but I could very well be wrong.
...I'm sure Sideshow had a good reason to make the change, but I imagine it was just because wood was either too expensive or too difficult for their factories to work with...

Yes, 2,000 all together is quite a few for something like this especially when you consider that it's just an upgrade of the existing one that they made for the first film, which had an edition size of 1,000. I do think that the exclusive will be difficult to get since it's pretty attractive compared to some, but I don't know about the regular.
I got my Master Replicas Han Solo Elite Edition ANH Blaster brand new for $300 shipped and it was originally priced at $649. I hope we don't see that kind of thing happen with the Samaritan.
I would've been even more excited about this conversion if they'd kept their word about the wood grips.
What I got at SDCC as an answer was that it was going to take way too long to do all the woodwork, sanding, finishing, etc. That is why it got delayed; it was taking too long and they had to change to polyurethane grips.
Na, I would think the BPRD would be kinda easy. Little metal plaque riveted on top the grips. Or even glued. Hmm....
Actually, I think my Aunt's boy friend may be able to do it. He did the crazy Baby for the PS3 commercials. And he does tons of custom metal & wood stuff too! Definitely gonna ask him!!
Can you get some pics of the beach Zack?
I dont think it was an issue of us waiting, its an issue of labor time = higher price.I would have waited a year for them to do it up right.
But if they look the same as SDCC, they are gonna come off.
I just don't like the pictures from SDCC. The grips look really, really plastic with a bad wood paint job. If they look better when I get it, I'll see. But if they look the same as SDCC, they are gonna come off.
I thought what was show at SDCC was the proto with the wood grip?
