Cool, this is a movie that has really grown on me over time. I wasn't completely in love with it from the get-go... but now I'm excited to see the sequel!

the big cog was the thing I was wrestling with......

I suppose you're right.....it's not like he hasn't been put back together before.....

just as long as he doesn't take that mask off again.....we've seen it once.....no need to kill its effect.....

Yeah, they could bring him back... but I'm sure there are enough villians to keep the movie interesting even w/o him.

this is great news. I just did not think it would happen so quick. I got to meet Guillermo at comic con and asked him about this sequel and he said they were looking for someone to budget the film. And boom, 2 weeks later this news. :rock

I just hope Kroenen is in the sequal. He is one of the coolest movie villians in the last few years.

Im hoping too so SS will do a PF 1/4 scale figure in his Nazi costume. This would go very nice next to my Hellboy

I doubt Kroenen will be in the sequel - I'd suspect they'll be a new big bad. Whilst I thought Kroenen was cool visually there's not alot more to explore with his character.

My Nazi Kroenen does look cool next to the Ultimate Hellboy and Abe Sapien though ;)

a Kroenen PF of any form is all I want. :monkey1

from what I keep reading everybodys riding Mignola to write in Lobster Johnson into HB2. Even Guillermo has tried to get people to bug the crap outta Mignola to write him in.

either way, HB2 is a go :rock

an since Ive yet to see a HB sculpt for sale that I REALLY love. Ive started working on making my own. will probably end up a kit.

Nice job!

Mignola is hard to capture in 3D. Out of the commercially available pieces, Mezco's comes closest.

Well... I heard awhile back (so I don't know if it's still true) from Del Torro himself that Kroenen will be back in the sequel... but he said "not like you think". The new "big bad" (which Del Torro also mentioned by name but I've forgotten) has a past relationship with Kroenen so he appears in a flashback sequence.

He also mentioned at that time that he was looking to work in Lobster Johnson into the film as well. :monkey5

Del Torro was at SDCC this year promoting Pan's Labryinth.. but I didn't get a chance to go to that panel. He might have fielded a few questions about the sequel. Did anybody here on the freak board go to the panel?

My brother did but his at work right now so i'll ask him about this when he gets home.

The movie is going to be an adaption of the "Conqueror Worm" story which features Kroenen so it's safe to say that he'll be back. I'm most excited about finaly seeing Lobster Johnson on the big screen. :D

This is kind of spoiler-heavy as far as plot elements, but I'm not going to give away any big details. Mostly background stuff:

Hellboy and and Liz have moved in together, albeit at the Paranormal Lab. John Myers is no longer a part of the team, and actually they don't even mention his name in the draft I read - everyone else is back. Instead, Hellboy is chasing down some monsters and comes right across a news crew; the secret is out and the FBI has to eat crow and go public with their secret unit. This puts a lot of pressure on Hell and Liz, who were already expriencing serious problems. When Hell doesn't do much of a good job coming off for the public, a suave character named Johann is brought it. He's dressed like an old detective and has a glass bubble for a head that's filled with what looks like gas. In some weird manifestation, Johann is actually free energy, more or less, contained in a suit (I have no idea if he's a character in the comic or not).
Anyway, keeping this brief, Johann delights Liz, who's tired of Hell's brash behavior (shades of the previous film), but the gang has to team up to fight a rogue Prince. He's the son of the King of the woodland ghouls, a group of "monsters" that include gnomes, trolls, fairies, tooth fairies, and all other minor imps that roam through the forest. A long time ago there was peace between the humans and the woodland creatures, but then there was a war. To win the war the King conjured the Golden Army, a group of metallic soldiers that were invincible. Sadly, he couldn't control them, and the Army ended up killing innocent human women and children. The King split the key that controlled the Army into three pieces and buried them across the globe. Now the Prince wants the war renewed and has captured two of the pieces of the key. The last piece is held by his sister, the Princess, and the Prince is out to capture her. Unfortunately for him, Abe has fallen in love with her...so Helboy and the crew have to protect her and stop him.
So, basically, the plot revolves around Hellboy fighting off characters from fairy tales.
