Isn't that chick over 20?

Just FYI....

Saw some posts from Hong Kong user forum. HK HT retail store has stopped taking pre-order on Keaton and Nicholson figures due to overwhelming cancellation on Indiana Jones. Instead of putting deposit on pre-order, many HK toy collectors would wait and see if they final product can meet the expectation. Instead of paying full price of the figure, many now turn to HK Yahoo auctions for less (for example Alice figure). HT is take less quota for next year figures.

I find that to be a tad bit overboard considering how long everyone has been waiting for Keaton Bats.

Indy jones is a slow sell because that face is such a fail. This is not the case for these two figures.

Is their business model so fragile that one figure's average performance (since Indy is selling, regardless of his terrible sculpt and initial cancellations) can jeopardize their entire company? Don't they have capital reserves? Aren't they making enough profit to be able to make up for possible losses incurred by one single figure which will be sold out in any case in the end?

Interesting post. Indy =/= Batman and Yahoo Auctions has been down for years. Any more disinformation? :huh

Because nicholson is exclusive to hot toys is the reason why i'm getting this figure. And the price is fair because of that in my opinion. I've been waiting since he didn't want to do batman of himself anymore and hot toys answered it. Can't wait for it to arrive.

HT has been getting too big for their own good lately. They need to be hit.

The good thing is that they've set the bar so high that the market will no longer settle for inferior products (like Indy). Even if HT were to fail for some reason, the other companies vying for a position would have to produce high quality figures. Yes, it sucks that they're pursuing the /4 scale out of a sheer desire to squash enterbay, but this decision will force both HT and EB to produce the best 1/4 figures possible and while they're trying to strangle each other, other companies might get just enough breathing space to grab some of the 1/6 market, thereby forcing HT once again to produce better quality figures.

This joker figure is simply amazing, despite Hot Toys having exclusive rights to Nicholson's likeness. Or, maybe N. is so ____ about getting his likeness right that it is a good thing. Dunno, time will tell, but I'd rather prefer competition than monopoly.

You're so right in that. The customer win in the end

Bottom line is: HT has no excuses, these figures should be perfect, or at least as good as the prototypes. In my opinion, the Nicholson and Keaton prototypes are some of the best products I've ever seen from any license, from any company. There are only a few minor nitpicks that they have to begin with (Nicholson's hat/pants pattern; I personally would like an alternate plug-in Bat symbol to match his bloody face), but what I'm saying is that these are some of the smallest issues I've ever seen with any release, and, shockingly, collectors are pretty much unanimous in saying how great these figures look. If they just mass produced the prototypes, everyone would be happy, if they exceeded expectations, we will have reached collector nirvana.

Indeed. The more vicious the inter-company competition and rivalry, the better it is for customers, quality, and choice overall. Or at least for as long as competition remains anyhow.

Competition is always healthy. I think it is because of that competition that we are now getting these awesome figures along with all the new Star Wars figures from SS and HT.
