Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Direct me to where I said these things.

I have a general problem with people being a pompous *** on this forum.

"Oh you bought DX09 Batman but not DX08 Joker? What a newb, hahahaha"

It's moronic.

I merely stated the following: "Would you rather have a Bane with some flaws as opposed to nothing?"

If you don't like it don't buy it- but don't mock people who do.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

For twas sarcasm what I was using

And both are terrible pictures - which was the whole point. With the second picture only being good because it was taken from the back, in low light. Sarcasm with some irony thrown in for fun.

What is it they say about Sarcasm being the lowest form of wit? :wink1:

Anyway you've totally missed my point :slap

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Lads when you say you 'feel bad for' people who are 'never happy with anything' you are A) being a bit condescending and B) Making quite a grand assumption & generalisation. Expect a response such as the one ZsaszSays gave.

Fair enough and as such, I've simply made a response befitting of the indirect reply that I got.

How fast does everyone anticipate this to sell out?

Even when I had already ordered him, initially I was expecting Bane to turn out like another Two-Face. Considering how more people seem convinced with the new pics (even beyond these forums), I wouldn't be surprised if this sells a bit better if not more so.

Couple in the fact that unlike Two-Face, Bane is essentially the main villain of TDKR, so he has a bigger pull. So even if people are complaining here and saying they'll pass, who's to say that no one else recognizes Bane's status as the main villain and are willing enough to buy this regardless of movie-accuracy/inaccuracy?

Still this is just me throwing in some guesses, I could be wrong and this could be a huge loss for HT but I'm somehow doubting it.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS18Э - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I got him for £168 but his prices are already creeping up, I expect the next time he lists him it'll be for £180

I'm happy with that price, it's the same amount Collectiblesdirect are offering him for and I dont have to wait another 3 months. When you factor in customs fee's he's only £10 more than I would have to pay had I gone with Sideshow and again hopefully I'll have him before SS start shipping theirs

yeah, not a bad price at all, im waiting for reply from dgray-man see what hes listing it for, want this guy around the same time i get DX12 from lee reason why im going to the bay, might even sell my Mark V to get some extra funds.

Well, looking through this thread, it does seem like recent members have a sort of naivety and a "this is perfect, I'm going to buy them all" mentality when it comes to this hobby.

I think once the "new figure" spell wears off on this one, we'll see a lot more complaining, especially when people get this in hand. I really don't understand the folks that are trying to claim this is an improvement over the prototype. Other than a few scars on the neck and some water droplets on the cowl, it's literally the same figure.

- Same reused physique, not unique to the character

- Same long, spindly legs

- Same inaccurate, poorly tailored vest with ratty, frayed straps

- Still no nose

- Sloppier paint apps on the tubing

Like I stated before, this is a lot like Harvey Dent. That figure came out poorly, even for it's time, especially if you compare it to it's proto spec photos. People ate it up when it came out, but after the newness factor wore off, people saw how bad it really was.

The difference though is Dent cost a helluva lot less than Bane, came with more stuff (another head, another look) and had a great box design. This? This is a modern figure that's going to set you back $200+ with nothing out of this world. If you're happy paying that much for mediocrity, well, have at it. It's telling if you have to mod so much of a figure straight out of the box, BEFORE, ever owning it.

I'd recommend waiting it out, like Harvey Dent. I bet this guy dips way down in price and you can pick it up for what it SHOULD cost. Unless of course you "gotta get it now".

Now here is a post I can respect. Cool, concise and collected. Not just "what a ****ing newb" or whatever post these doofus members tend to post.

You stated your opinion in a respectful manner. Thank you. I also agree with you- I think this will ultimately be one that doesn't move that great. Does it bother me? Nope- but hopefully it turns out to be Two Face and I can sell Bane on eBay for $435 like I did Two Face. Bring it on.

I think some people need to take a refresher course in SARCASM. :lol

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Certain "know-it-alls" like to proclaim how smart they are and how they know what is good, worth paying for, etc. They are funny to me- actually pretty pathetic as we are talking about TOYS, not devaluation of the dollar, third world problems, medical life saving techniques or even how to invest your money.
Take them with a grain of salt. Enjoy the hobby and excitement it brings you.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

OK so maybe you didn't say it but someone did and a bunch of people quoted him agreeing with him.

I'm not advocating anyone else's post. DiFabio just hit the nail on the head with a post I can fully respect (not disparaging you in anyway).

It's the general attitude with some of the members here that guys with low post count must "pay dues" to have a respected opinion. They can take a very long walk off an even shorter pier for all I'm concerned.

Funny... all things I'm very well versed in.

And you're absolutely correct. Let people enjoy what they want. You can say you don't like it, but don't mock those that due. Silly Keyboard Warriors... tsk tsk

Most likely not since TF figure was like $150 1,5 year ago and was raised to the sky only bcoz of TDKR campaign.

Ok, I can see that... but did you foresee Dent going for the price he is now?

I bet not.

I really like this figure, and I usually hate on Hot Toys.

Yes but if we translate his post using Captain Subtext, he is pretty much saying "what newbs".

When the Dark Knight came out, Hot Toys' fanbase pretty much tripled because everyone wanted the figures. History is repeating itself now with this Batman film - a lot of new collectors have found their way here and are simply looking open-mouthed at this new Bane figure cause he is currently the 'cool baddy'. Those experienced collectors can see this figure for what it really is
a, a boor prelude to a DX which will inevitably come,
or
b, just like Harvey Dent - sort of ok with minimum accessories but can be improved with mods - never revisted by HT

People say there's literally no changes, yet there actually are. It's that kind of misinformation that contributes in downplaying the little details they've changed which feels rather contradictory especially for the people that cry over movie-accuracy. While I can't completely vouch for the body since I'm only relying on what people were initially complaining about, even simple changes like the pants having zippers are note-worthy enough considering how people were throwing tantrums over it many pages back. Little things like that? That's still an improvement. A minor one maybe, but it doesn't change the fact that they've improved on the prototype.

By all mean bring on the new collectors. Means more money to Hot Toys means more figures means higher quality. Bring it on!
