By all mean bring on the new collectors. Means more money to Hot Toys means more figures means higher quality. Bring it on!

mean high prices too :thud:

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Ok, I can see that... but did you foresee Dent going for the price he is now?

It's not about popularity of the character or something else if the figure was released more than 4 years ago :)
Time goes and prices rising especially if subject is in fashion again.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Except this isn't a message board for discussing devaluation of the dollar, third world problems, medical life saving techniques or how to invest your money. It's an open message board where we discuss toys, dolls, collectibles and movies. Last time I checked, a message board can have criticism considering criticism is part of discussing. I'm sick of seeing, "don't like it, don't buy it" and "if you don't like it, why post". Everyone here is allowed to express what they want.

People say that, "oh, you're nitpicky", "I feel bad for you", "sorry you're never happy", "sorry for your loss", well that goes both ways doesn't it.

I could say, "you're gullible", "too easy to please", "you'll buy anything that hot toys puts out", "I'm sorry for your bad taste".

I can agree with that. The only reason I say "Don't like it don't buy it" is because I'm directing it towards the people who continue to post "it sucks" or "not buying it."

Tell me why you don't like it (like you did DiFabio) and I can respect your opinion more. You won't go to a debate on say gun control and say "I think we should ban guns" and not say why. Granted, that is a different issue altogether, but the fact remains is it isn't criticism or anything of the sort if you don't say why... it's whining.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

I can't believe you are all real people who post here and not some auto-response bots who whine over and over again.

Oh its still whining if they state "why" over and over and over and.... :lol

"Sorry for your loss" is indeed an apt response as some people whine about certain movies and figures more than the loss of a family member. ;)

Not necessarily higher quality.

I can accept your reasoning. The problem is people throw around ''Don't like it don't buy it'' and the word ''whining'' quite a lot.

People get called whiners whether they give their reasons for not liking something or not.

Ok, point to you.

However if they have a basis and ground to stand on I can respect that more than the posts that just whine.

"It isn't accurate." - Well what do you think isn't correct?
"I hate it." - Why?
"What a horrible figure." - Cool you have an opinion, but why did you come to that conclusion?

Help me see your point of view. I can see the flaws... but I still love the thing. I enjoyed the character, I think Tom Hardy is a terrific actor, Bane was the very first villain I was introduced to growing up (him and Doomsday that is) and I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Best is to just ignore people. A lot of people seem to post trying to change peoples views on a figure. If people are not happy with something, oh well, what can you do, thats their problem?

Yah the newb thing is ridiculous. Who cares? Low or High post counts...just dumb and childish...

In general- sure. Now if you make 15 posts all stating the same thing... repetition is kind of whining. For me I'm whining about people whining. I'm whining about people who think their post count increases their wee-wee. I acknowledge that.

Honestly thought it really does boil down to "don't like it don't buy it." I'm not purchasing Black Widow because I don't like the figure... but I'm not in there telling people their morons for wanting it.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

The figure looks far more impressive in that video than in the photos.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Yes but if we translate his post using Captain Subtext, he is pretty much saying "what newbs".

When the Dark Knight came out, Hot Toys' fanbase pretty much tripled because everyone wanted the figures. History is repeating itself now with this Batman film - a lot of new collectors have found their way here and are simply looking open-mouthed at this new Bane figure cause he is currently the 'cool baddy'. Those experienced collectors can see this figure for what it really is
a, a boor prelude to a DX which will inevitably come,
or
b, just like Harvey Dent - sort of ok with minimum accessories but can be improved with mods - never revisted by HT

That's what puzzles me: why do people assume that new members have zero experience though? I recall seeing the original HT Joker and thinking that it looked horrible. Heck it's only more recently with the two DX figures and the Bank Robber version that I felt content with HT's headsculpt of Ledger. Even little details like the orange segments under his coat which both the original release and the first DX Joker had lacked I actually found to be jarring. I had wanted to get Two-Face back when he was announced, but my dislike for the overall execution deterred me (I still don't want to hunt him down even to this day). While I'm no "vet" in terms of the general terminologies used in these forums, I've always lurked around for input on newly-announced figures whether or not they seem good or bad based on comments and my own judgement.

I liked Bane even before the announcement that he was the new villain for TDKR. Having watched the film, while I thought that TDK is still the best of the trilogy, I was honestly happy with Nolan's interpretation of Bane. Seeing as I'm actually planning to buy him, with more confidence in the things I look for in the figures I plan to buy, I find that there's nothing wrong with suddenly registering so I can finally voice out my own opinions.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

BTW, is the release date January now instead of March? Sideshow says January but BBTS(where I preordered from) says March.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - TDKR Bane Collectible Figure Full Specs & Pics

Yeah that's true.

------------------------------

Okay, so some of us question with "why" when people criticize or knock something.

Why do people think this is good? What attributes or positives does it have other than, "oh, it's my first Bane figure and I liked the guy", or "they gave him the half inch long scar and zippers on his trousers".

The figure itself, what's great about it? I think the base is great, but bases don't make a figure or the overall package, and the overall package for this one blows (IMO of cawse).

Granted I don't analyze these things like some folks do (absolutely nothing wrong with that either) here is why I enjoy it:

1. I like Tom Hardy as an actor
2. I loved Bane in TDKR
3. The overall look is terrific. Is it flawed? Yep, but not enough to deter me from purchasing
4. I want him in my collection
5. He'll fit in well with my DX12 and other Bat-family releases.

They told me earlier today end of Jan/early Feb he will be in.
