"Yeah, Bane was a ****. He just wanted Talia for himself in the prison, clearly."

:slap :slap :slap :slap :slap :slap :slap :slap :slap :slap

I'm gonna go and get some fresh air.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

The both of them are just sorry excuses for villains after the likes of the Ledger Joker from Dark Knight. There's two of them and they don't even compare to the agent of chaos.

Huh. I'm a big fan of the Ledger Joker but how on earth could you say that his goal-less(but awesome) explosions could be more chaotic than ruling the whole city, breaking batman, having their own "justice" system, and nearly turning it to dust?

The Joker is just naturally a more colorful character. Corrupting the good, destruction with no real goal, and more importantly, insane. IMO how they portrayed the TDKR Bane was very powerful and interesting, while still being within the boundaries of still being the character "Bane" and being realistic as the others in the Nolan Batman franchise.

(Except for the petting part in the end.)

Why? Because it's so wrong to have a discussion that's related to the character in question? On a message board at that? :slap

Wow, strange sentiment you got there then. Some people simply asked, a few answered, while others pitched in and offered their two cents to the topic. Also why are you so concerned if people are repeating similar viewpoints that others have mentioned before? Does it really bother you that much? :cuckoo:

I don't think the Joker's explosions were ever goal-less, he always had a goal which was to cause chaos and to destroy batman's world of morality. Bane and Talia's plan may be BIG and bold but it was organised and took so many years to plan. I doubt Joker's took 8 years (i think i read somewhere a few posts ago). Joker's character is realistic too. There's just something about pure evil with no compassion plus insanity. Bane has compassion at least for Talia. There's a reason why Joker is Batman's greatest nemesis. The lex luthor to superman etc.

I don't think I Fully understood Bane's plan. I know he wanted to destroy Gotham, that's obvious.

But why let people know about the bomb and why tell everyone that a citizen has the trigger?why kill Dr Pavel? what was the point of all of that?
Everyone pretty much knew he was lying and he would have never give the trigger to a regular citizen.
Everyone kept mentioning that so why even mention it?

I know he wanted to give Gotham hope before they blew up, but how was releasing all the prisoners and killing all the rich people supposed to give people hope? Like, that makes no sense. everyone in Gotham was scared. He kept talking about how "This city is yours do with it what you want" or whatever,
but then everyone pretty much stayed in their houses the whole time. People in Gotham knew he was a crazy guy with a bomb and the army knew he was a crazy guy with a bomb...

Like, How was all that supposed to give Gotham hope? I never understood any of that.

I don't think anyone other than batman knew he was lying. The people never even knew bane. And from the destruction he's caused,(blowing the football field, trapping the police underground) people are bound to believe that he's not bluffing. And he killed Dr. Pavel as he is the only one who knew how to defuse the bomb. And most people don't even know that the bomb would go off even if the trigger is not used. That is the "hope" he is feeding the people.

Well the idea was that, despite Bane running the show, he wanted to perpetrate this idea of hope where everyone will still survive despite Gotham being under his rule (remember Foley and how he just wanted to stay home?) Beyond that, Bane was stalling the whole thing as a mockery towards Bruce's failure. If anything, that's the main reason why Talia and Bane stalled the whole bomb plan but with Bruce's return and Bane losing his battle against Batman and his army, Talia had to rush the whole bomb plan in the end.

But even if they didn't know he was lying or whether he would blow up the place or not, How could anyone have any kind of hope when he was releasing prisoners and hanging soldiers in bridges or sending people to die in the ice?

Like, Yeah he wanted to destroy Gotham and he wanted to take his sweet time doing it (the 6 months it would take) Just to torture Bruce about it,
But what I never got was how any of the stuff he did or the speech he gave in front of the prison about Gotham being for the taking was supposed to mean anything.

Like he wanted to appear as this liberator to the people but again, he was just a crazy man with a couple of Bat tanks and a bomb going around the city.

Well like he said to Bruce, despair and false hope=true despair. Despair being the killing of the corrupt and releasing the prisoners. Hope being the false belief that the bomb will not explode unless triggered.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Brb gonna visit threads for figures I'm not interested in based on characters I don't like from movies I don't like and tell them over the course of a few years that I do not like.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

That scene on the football field required so much exposition. If it takes that much just so people can understand what Bane is trying to do, there's a problem. They should've given him another plan but I think the point was to raise the stakes and to get every section of Gotham involved in saving the city. That idea kinda ruined the story imo

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I figured they included the football field scene because it's supposed to appeal to the majority of people "omg, they're attacking people like me in a venue I like the one I go to!"

I also had somewhat of a problem with the overarching plan.
I understand the idea that he wanted to create the illusion of hope when really there was none, but if the end result is blowing the entire city up, then who's going to care? No one will be left. The rest of the world? He wasn't after them, just fulfilling Ras' plan to bring down Gotham.

Apologies if this isn't the thread to talk about this in. :dunno

@ the people that keep *****ing and mocking people that "repeat themselves". Eh, I have what, 15 posts in here (not counting the thread opener and this one)? What's worse. 15 posts that are actually contributing to the conversations going on in here, or 200-400 posts of nothing but the same old crap?
I don't remember seeing "You can only post and contribute if you have nice, happy, positive things to say about *insert figure here*, *insert movie here*" in the rules or FAQs.

Want positive, happy, happy? I don't post any negative crap in the DX 11 Joker thread, or the DX 12, Robocop, Terminator, or the DX 09, etc. etc. Why? I like those things.

We discuss and share things we like and dislike, what's the problem there? I bet I could go into anyone's profile, look at their post history, and see them posting about and doing the same crap they always do. How about that one poster that was going in the DX 12 and Enterbay threads who wouldn't shut the **** up about how much they hated the DX 12 Batman? Are those posts above really as obnoxious as what he was doing?

Ugh, Tyranus or whatever his name was. No one compares to him. Beside most of your posts are amusing, even if I don't agree with all of them.

I never had any issue with people posting their dislike of a character or figure. It especially annoys me when people complain that others are talking about the movie is a figure thread. Really? Its a movie figure, conversation is naturally going to go the course of talk of the movie itself. Besides you won't hear anyone complaining if there is 50 posts right in a row of people praising the movie, only if there is more than a handful that have something negative to say about it.

IMO the last few pages of this thread have been the most interesting.

If you're like me, you're scrolling past the rehash of the movie thread, looking for more pics and cool mods and such. Seeing there has been nothing for a while, I'll resort to posting my iPhone pics. The gauntlet in the pics below has been trimmed down for easy fitting in the coat.

What's wrong with his eyebrows? With the exception of the nose thing I thought the sculpt was almost perfect. Prolly the best HT Nolan sculpt to date. Unfortunatley. :lol
