Seriously, some of you guys just make me crazy and clearly have too much of a high standard when it comes to these collectibles... oh, and don't forget they ARE toys and not REAL people.

M.

Sorry buddy, some of us are just not as loaded as you are. We need to justify buying a $200 TOY. Besides, said standard is imposed on HT by HT, we just want them to be consistent.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

When you spend $200 plus on something you're not buying a toy you're making an investment. $200 is several shares in Disney, a couple shares of Nike or, in this instance; one share in Hot Toys.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

lol analogy fail. with your logic buying a tablet from apple is buying a share of apple stock. no it isn't.

An investment is putting money into something with the expectation of monetary gain. I have no delusions that when I spend $200 on a Hot Toys figure it's for nothing more than an excellent TOY to stand on my shelf. Might be different for you if you're one of those who only buys Hot Toys to resell a year or two later for twice the money you spent. That indeed would be 'investing'

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

That Tablet will be outdated and hundreds cheaper within a year anyway... opposite with HT. Better investment!

You can make more money elsewhere however.

Well, these are a choice... it's not like Obamacare, you either spend the money on this figure or you don't... i think hot toys is beyond justifying their prices since they just keep rising and people keep buying...

And i don't think the comparing this to a Mattel toy is justified because the coat isn't worn and the straps look cheap... just seems like a waste of energy for something that is forever away from release.

All in all, I just wish more people would be grateful they can even get figures that look this good instead of being angry about little things... e.g. Joker socks.

If you are investing in Hot Toys..then I have a few great investments I would like to sell you. How is the DX02 Batman investment going for some of you? I saw one in the for sale sections for $200 or best offer..a month ago it would have been $650 firm. Buy these things because you want a love them, not in hopes to flip them down the road. Hot Toys has made a statement that this wont fly anymore ie. Joker 2.0, Batpod, Batmobile, TDKR, T-800 DX, etc..

And I would not nitpick on details of the figures if these were $89.99..but at $200 plus, you should be spot on.

Dude don't get me started on politics. BTW there will be a provision so that you can opt out of Obamacare for religious reasons and/or hardship depending on what state you live in. So you'll always have a choice.

"You either spend the money on this figure or you don't." Nice. I hope you're not saying that if you're not so fortunate, you shouldn't have this as a hobby. And I'm not saying that I don't have the money to buy this figure, I just don't want to buy a figure at a price that doesn't seem to match what I'm getting. It's like going to a Burger King to buy a Double Whopper but you get McDonald's Beef Burger at DW's price instead. I suppose you'll argue that you can go someplace else? Well we all know HT is the top of the line for 1/6 figure (and I'm only buying the TDKR line). So if you can refer me to a different company that sells TDKR figures at the same scale, same quality for lesser price, I'd be more than happy to buy figures from them. And not buying is not an option for me because I'm a collector. If you can shut off that bit in your head that drives you to collect collectibles as a hobby, please let me know how.

And don't pin this on traditional business model. This company started the MovieMasterpiece line in 2000 and their first figure (MMS 01) was sold for $110 and you know how it looks. Considering the level of detail, accessories, engineering complexity for color, texture, fabrics and rubber that we have come to love and expect to-day, the pricing is justified and some would argue that it remains the same only that it's adjusted to the production cost. Now if it was some other company...

That last paragraph doesn't make sense. You can be grateful if the figure is given to you for free. If you pay money for a collectible, you are basically buying the intrinsic value of it and getting your money's worth. Are you grateful to a busker if you give him/her some money? So gratefulness doesn't come along with it unless your mom bought it for you (even then you ought to be grateful to your mom, not HT). BTW, you almost sound like you're glorifying HT. Please don't. Glorifying a company is a form of fanaticism and it's simply just sad.

NOW be honest and pick which one you'd be willing to spend your money on:

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

the arms are too scrawny. guess they dont want to spend the money to develop arms just for one figure.

They've done that a number of times. On this one, you can see that they actually put on warts (acne?) on his deltoids.

They just picked the wrong bodytype is all. Must have been using Tom Hardy's pre-Warrior photos as reference.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Saw the film today...seeing toms performance as bane, makes me want to get this figure a little more than before i had seen the film but the only thing stopping me from getting it is the fact he cannot Hold the straps of his vest for the boss looking pose.

the only poses i'd want him in is either arms open or holding the vest...and wow i didn't realise how skinny he looked untill i saw that modded pic, hope they sort it.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Personally i'm not worried about the arms, having the Barney ross and T-800 bodies in hand, the arms are huge. In hand I don't think it will be an issue.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Now that the movies out and I've seen it twice, It's hard to believe some of you said that Hardys Bane wouldn't be iconic enough to get a DX.

That character deserves it 100%

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I agree. IMO a DX Bane is inevitable. I will still probably by this version anyway though b/c I love the character and don't have enough patience to wait for a better version. I'm thinking about buying some elbow guards to put on Bane to hide those elbow joints. I know it won't be movie accurate, but I think it would be worth while to cover those joints.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Just let it soak in to those who doubt thet Bane will be on the same pedestal as the Joker is . He will be and already is in my book :wave

YES! How you would not put this guy up there with the best of Batman villians after what he did .....amazing. :slap

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Vest looks different. The armor pieces look closer together and they also have weathering like the costume.

The figure looks more impressive in this video. Too bad they don't have him displayed with the jacket off.

The biggest problem is the body.

That NEEDS to be fixed.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I always say im done with the 1/6 scale, but then my pre-ordering begins
