There is a lot of Die-Cast hate on this board it is because people don't like change, don't want the extra price tagging or is it a bad material?

I've had Several Die-cast toys over the years. I've slowly developed a HATE for the stuff.

It's incredably cheap as far as materials go. Another name for the material used to make "die-cast" products is pot-metal. The Actual metal is made from zinc, copper, aluminium, magnesium, lead, pewter and tin based alloys. It's VERY VERY dense, and VERY VERY Heavy. It's VERY costly to get set up, but fairly inexpensive once you've got your die's set up.
it tends to be rather soft on details, and Dosn't hold paint very well at all. in fact, the more you handle something that is diecast, the more likely it is that the paint will chip and/or flake off.

generaly, if unpainted, diecast will quickly oxidize into a brownish-black in color. Resembling petrified po op.

in other words, it's ****. it's weight gives an "illusionary value" to schmucks who equate things being heavy to things being valuble, and so they can charge more.

Hasbro made transformers out of it in the 80's and sold said transformers for less than 10$

Matchbox cars are STILL made from the stuff, and are less than 5$, and that factors in vehicular liscensing.

Though, I guess Barnam did say there is a sucker born every minite.

I just looked at what the IM3 die cast figs were going for and assumed it would be at least that much. No reason it would be any less really.

I wonder when we'll hear the first prank stories in March next year... employee loses their job for talking toys.

Sorry for posting up the HK prices. It looks like it would have been easier for you guys if I haven't. :lol

Watching the movie now as I speak. Really hope they got the holster down this time.

I'd be happier if I hadn't seen the lower prices posted earlier in the day :lol

Yeah. I feel the same. I love Robocop way more than Mark XVIIIVIIIIIX, but $300 is still very steep for a Hot Toys figure no matter how you look at it. I also think the sound feature and diecast is unnecessary, but if people like it, they'll buy it.

Great update to one of Hot Toys' original classics.

However, this is an easy pass for me. I'm happy for all you Robocop fans though that missed out the first time around or are looking to get the new version to the past one.

That being said...I think doing the Mechanical Chair is a waste of money. I'm surprised they just didn't release a Robocop 3 version instead. The chair prop is all plastic and looks boring.

I don't think it looks boring. But it sure will be interesting on a black shelf. It makes those thighs look great.

Sorry for posting up the HK prices.

Don't be sorry. You were not the first one to post it. And even if you were, you still shouldn't be sorry. The HK prices were an idea. I think I posted earlier than you the PO prices from our local dealer, which I said is almost always at par with SSC's, but I guess everyone would rather think that the prices would be the same as that in HK, and honestly I can't blame them.

Dude, I've seen chairs at work more interesting than that one.

It does emphasize his thighs though.

Almost perfect.
I can't pass on this one and I'm still looking forward to EB's response. I'm curious how they will paint theirs because HT just nailed it IMO.

300 dollars for a bare figure? Robocop is my favorite movie but theres no way Ill pay that. Ill just wait for Enterbay's 1/4. Its sad when the price of Hot Toys has nearly reached premium format

I guess it is $300 per figure from now on... :p
I will pass on this one. Has to be more selective on what I am getting now that the general price of figures are going up so fast!
