Why are you guys upset about a second version? HT does clean and BD as separate figures all the time.

It's buying a figure with NRD, only to find out 2 days later they're working on one with what you wished the first one had.

3rd version. This should have been 1 deluxe version, with the chair and second head sculpt included.

Everyone should learn by now that unless there's an official statement, speculations about actors' likenesses are just... speculations. There's always something we don't know. Funny that there are some who said "Neither HT nor EB own the rights to Weller's likeness" with conviction but can't give a reliable statement to back it up.

I'm not really upset, but it would have been a more well received move if they has said that this extra sculpt was included with the current releases of Robocop. Might make the price seem a little more justified for some as well. Not for me. I'd still think it's crazy even with the unmasked head, but, well, there it is.
Guess I'm waiting a bit longer until I order a Robocop. I just hope the new version doesn't only include an unmasked Robocop, although it wouldn't surprise me if we have to buy 2 to get masked and unmasked.

I never trusted whoever said Weller does not give out his likeness rights. There is no such thing as long as there is money. For the longest time Jack Nicholson was known in the licensing field to be the "Mission Impossible" but Hot Toys paid him enough and convinced him the quality and they did it (and for that, I applaud HT! Bravo Job!).
I am glad I hold off ordering these versions, as for sure it will be way too much for me to double dip with this new price point. Heck, it is already hard for me to single dip. I do expect HT will do another version with the Murphy head down the road, but I really did not expect them to do this "hey, we hear you, so we will give you what you guys wanted the most but you have to pay for another full figure, RIGHT AFTER you just paid a hefty deposit (especially the collectors in HK who has to pay a HK$1000 deposit - that is over 50% of the figure price!!) on this one that we intentionally leave this part out for ya!"

They're probably doing the version on the magazine? Not sure.

Guess I have to wait and see as well. But knowing that I'd get only one, I might just get the first one, since I'll be displaying Robo clean anyway. And who knows how much the new version would be now that it carries the likeness they paid for.
LOL, the last part of your post makes me think that HT pulled a NECA trick. 2 variants. Masked and Unmasked. At $300 each. But maybe the new version would come with the cobra rifle, and more BD parts.

The unmasked version will be a battle damaged figure. Just look at the two Iron Man MK 7's and the two Terminator DX's.
Even if it did come with the cobra cannon and more parts i wont be buying 2 robos for this price, not worth it.
If they really choose to not include the weller hs with this and make it a separate robo, then i wont buy it simply out of principle.
It's a dirty and under-handed business tactic i wont support, i'm just getting ed and robo for now.
That is until robo 2 and 3 stuff is confirmed

I hear you. Personally I'm not into buying multiples of a certain character (except Batman, which I'm a big fan of and I think every version is a must-have for me but I'll draw the line at Schumacher Batmen) the one reason being that it's very expensive to do. I'm happy having a clean version to represent a childhood icon of mine on the shelf. Much as I want to own all the BDs as well, I choose to say no for I have more responsibilities than money.
Only BD version I wasn't able to resist was EB's 1/4 BD T800. It's too good for me to miss out on.
