If you look at the issued HT images you'll see the face was blurred because it's not an approved face sculpt prototype, which leads me to believe the sample shown at SDCC is that blurred face and not at all the final face design.

Its the Thanos connection everyones loved how the MCU has been built up other years now we're enjoying the planning of its demise by the Mad Titan.

I am more inclined to believe that it's about how the characters as given life on-screen, especially since these are a bunch of fresh characters on film particularly for those who are at least casual comicbook fans. I'm sure not all of those critiques even know who Thanos is and the scope he'd play for the entire MCU. GotG could be a movie that's well-written and well-casted, kudos to the filmmakers and the actors involved.
