My thoughts:

We will get Marty as poncho Eastwood.

Then we will get con ex's of radiation Marty (hopefully) or inconspicuous 50s Marty and the pink western outfit Marty at a push.

Only future doc is a possibility at this juncture.

I read on facebook OSR today that a dealer in HK said that Doc was very unlikely to get released since Marty didnt sell well in Asia. My argument is why are they releasing another if it didnt sell well? Plus two Deloreans. I think that I will break my one representation rule whe the part 2 marty comes out, i like the damn sneakers.

Which is why I still hope to get my hands on this one one day...

Yeah, I have that one, and love it.

If I'm being honest, HT got his likeness better than Trevor did there, yet I still like Trevor's sculpt more. I've also got a part 2 version painted up. Hopefully it won't seem too large on the body used for the BTTF2 Marty, because I plan on displaying it with that sculpt.

So Doc being made or not was contingent on how Marty would sell in Asia? Marty was never going to sell well in Asia FFS. How the hell would they be surprised by this? I guess the US/European markets are hardly worth a damn.

I know this is just a ''I read that a guy said'' scenario but I can well believe this to be absolutely true based on previous Hot Toys form.

Two martys and two deloreans why would they make two if not selling well? Plus maybe if there were a Doc figure maybe marty will sell better.

Ugh, FFS.

The Marty exclusive sold out at Sideshow in under a day. **** the Asian market, the American and European markets are more than eager for a Doc figure.

If that was the basis of Doc getting made then I wish Chan would have flat-out said ''no, we won't be making Doc'' or at least say ''unlikely''. Marty was never going to be a big seller in Asia. All they care about over there is red & yellow robots. Any given Budget Stark video bears this out.

A figure from a 30-year-old movie starring actors who are virtual unknowns in Asia bombed in that market? Go figure. That being said, I hope Howard is stupid enough to give us an Alien Ripley.

I have nothing to back this up, no evidence of any kind, but maybe Howard and HT have been or will continue to view Asia as its No. 1 market, while North America and Europe become secondary markets.

Iron Man changed everything. And if Howard wasn't such a huge SW OT nut, would we even be getting all of those figures?

I always assumed Asia was HT's primary market simply because they're an Asian based company. But then again, the majority of HT's movie-based figures are from US films, which would make you think the US would be their primary market. Who knows. :dunno

Maybe it all just boils down to population, with a greater number of collectors, and thus larger market in Asia compared to the rest of the world? My guess is as good as yours...

All I can say with confidence is that HT will only do what is financially sound for them as a company. If they give us something that we want, it's definitely not because they're catering to our wishes. They only do what gives them the best chances to fill their wallets.

Especially if Secret Base has to contact the police to ensure that people queuing up for Mark XLV remain orderly. :lol Pretty sure that didn't happen when Marty was made available to the public.

Correction, according to Budget Stark, the police were called in due to concerns about a possible fire hazard...it had taken only 10 minutes for 10 floors to fill up with people looking to PO that particular Iron Man.

I hope I'm wrong, but maybe Marty didn't sell well outside of Asia as well. It may have sold well enough for them to release a BBTF II Marty that would only require some retooling of the BBTF I figure. But if sales were underwhelming everywhere, then a whole new Doc figure might not be worth making.

We will get Stan Lee figure before see Doc happening, that's really a big joke

We are always blame Asia for Marvel and Ironman popularity but it's popular as well in western.

I think we overestimate the popularity and appeal of '80s properties. Not to mention the number of people who would be willing to plunk down $200 to $250 for an action figure or dolly.

^Good point. We probably do overestimate the appeal and popularity of 80's properties. And although collecting high-end figures is gaining in popularity, we are all still a pretty rare minority that cherishes things from our childhood/past enough to spend the money we spend on these collectibles. Show anyone from your childhood your Marty McFly figure and the majority will surely be impressed and amazed with his detail/realism. But tell them the price tag and the majority will also probably tell you you're insane. :lol

I was fortunate to have had a great childhood and have many fond memories growing up. These toys bring back a lot of that for me and help me stay young, at least at heart. :) It's not that my present is bad; I just miss those simpler times and carefree days. Makes me want to build my own Delorean time machine, which is actually something on my bucket list :lol
