Followers of Thor, sons of Odin, people of Asgard, teach me the ways of thors power levels?

Seriously, the only exposure I've had to Thor is the movie. He seems pretty powerful, but to me there seemed to be limits. Even so, I've read some posts here questioning the other avengers necessity in the avengers movie because of...well, you guessed it, Thor. Reading things like, well, Thor is there, hulk and iron man as well...but are hulk, iron man and especially cap even necessary? oh and "he's like superman".

So my question to you guys is, is Thor powerful enough to clean house? I hope someone can give me a break down on his powers. Does he fly only because of mjolnir? Can he die? Can he lift mountains?

Drop some knowledge on me guys.

i wont ruin anything but all i will say is there is one bit in this film that for me i never thought i would see in a film in my life and it is BEAUTIFUL.

As far as i know.. He can die, he's not immortal. But he has Godly Abilities can teleport using his Mjiolnir, Fly, and control Weather.
And he can stand against Hulk's Strength :D

There was one comic where Thor fought Superman and Superman won. I think he has all the powers of Supes except laser eyes and x-ray vision, but also has weather powers and time manipulation. Thor is vulnerable to magic, so someone like Dr Strange could defeat him. But they are buds.

It seems as if Thor was invincible in the whole Avengers film, barely a scratch.

Hmmm...things that would be considered threats to him, were they at least believable? Like in transformers 3, when prime was caught in those cables, I shook my head like WTF.

yeah, he bled in the movie a few times and the opponents were worthy enough

Thor is one of the heavy hitters in the marvel u. He can hold his own against the hulk. Supe's vulnerable in magic so Thor has an advantage since he is magic. Supe's won because of fan demand. In general Thor and hulk are the best heavy hitters. Thor is a god. Especially rune Thor. Rune Thor is........beast.

Stan Lee wanted to make a character that was more powerful than the Hulk but he had already dubbed greenie the most powerful mortal so he went with a god.

Think you got confused, don't you mean he's not invulnerable (can be killed) but he is immortal (lives forever)? And i'm talking about the character in general so those who are gonna come and scream spoilers, hush.

Loki mentions in the film about wondering whether Gods can die before he releases the Hulk prison. Thor wanted to get out of that prison fast so he clearly thought he might die.

According to the "Official marvel Handbook" I have in my hands Thor and the Asgardians are actually NOT immortal like some of the other god races but they are resistant to disease are EXTREMELY long lived and resistant to most injuries.

I think a good breakdown/ example of how tough thor is, is the Old, Superman animated series. He can still be hurt, he can still bleed. He can still die.

but it takes ALOT

Oh boy... spoiler this, spoiler that. Cry us a freaking river!

All the guy said is that he bleed a few times.
