Hmm I dont really see the point for me to buy this figure as I think it is at least 90% identical to the previous thor (please point significant differences to justify the price, if i am wrong)
I am going ot pay $215 for a MISB Thor and this new one is coming out in a couple months.. I think ill pass on the new one.

btw guys, remember the one the guy is holding in the pic is the proto, the original first copy that always looks like the best thing ever, wait for it to be massive build with diff materials, molds etc LOL.
I have seen HT that look WOW BOOM BANG in promo pics,, when you get in hand, you go like wtf went the proto face? lol

New Thor pic - Hair looks 4732847923184 times better than the first one

A bit premature to make that call perhaps?? Nah...no need to wait for the actual pics. :cuckoo:

Sorry, more times than not, it looks better in hand than it does in the pics. The camera catches way more detail than the naked eye, so you tend to scrutinize more. That is one thing that Hot toys is really good at that other companies need to work on: Proto is a good gauge on what the final product will look like.

Take for example the Black Spiderman... in hand the sculpted unmasked face looks a little off, but in proto pics looks amazing.

That is true mainly on items where the details on the pictures are enlarged. On a small figure the size of a GI joe, the pictures are enormously enlarged and usually look pretty crappy. In person, on the other hand they appear much better, Im not sure about the size of the HT pictures vs actual size though. I know Ive seen the skin textures and things that look amazing on closeups of them. They are very skilled sculptors, but of course over time duplication would vary slightly.

And don't forget how awesome the figure for Thor 3 is going to be :) I think we'll be getting more than enough Iron Men, Thors and Caps in the next few years, with each new iteration causing the "aaaaaaaah... bought" effect.

Hopefully, Thor would look great along side Iron Man and Cap...can't wait to get my hands on this.

After seeing The Avengers last night I really want this figure now, along with the rest of them ahh decisions...

Given that we don't know anything about the figures construction or accessories, its impossible to say how much of it is "identical" to the prior figure, though I think we need to define how identical is used here HT have stated it is a new body, the head sculpt is new, and the costume looks to be made differently than in v1. Do they count as "new" or simply "improved", or do you consider them "identical" because it is still representing the same figure?

practically identical would be if it have the same pants, cape color and style, etc
i means paying 200 bucks for a new hair and face sculpt but the rest is let's say very similar with no major differences (such as the differences between both caps) then to me is just not worthy and its better just to keep the old one for that matter.

From that pic the arms look bigger as well...maybe its just in that photo...I hope he's bigger...the last one was a little on the puny side...especially in the thighs

There are quite a few differences really, one can say the same about Iron Man too but if you look closely you will see them. In the case of Thor the chest is totally different, look at them side by side. Also, the colors, in the Avengers he is wearing more blue than black and he doesn't have the biker looking boots. They are quite different. It all depends on what you consider different I suppose. People can there is no difference in Iron Man when one only has a circular chest arc and the other a triangle.
