Great comp pic, TM. How do the gauntlets compare - people have been saying the HT gauntlets are too big.

The openings at the wrist end are a little wide compared to the Sideshow ones, but I found that as long as you push them right up against the hands (which then hides the wrist peg nicely anyway), then you don't notice it at all. Some people have swapped over to the Sideshow gauntlets, but the colour is completely wrong and doesn't match the HT one at all, so looks rubbish! They'd need a re-paint if you wanted to use them.

In my opinion, it's nothing to worry about and certainly shouldn't put you off buying this fantastic figure! :wink1:

Both SSC and HT gauntlet color is completely wrong. To be fair there is no color (expecially greens and yellows) on both versions that is screen accurate. The only thing is that gauntlet color should be the same as jetpack's, and both company did it.

Yeah, the colors I'm really looking forward to seeing in-hand. Mine won't be here for another 3-4 weeks unfortunately.

The darts on the HT look way oversized. I'm wondering if its possible to crack the glue on the HT gauntlets, trim the plastic seam a couple of mm's then reglue to narrow the wrist end of the gauntlet a little. Maybe no point if TM says pushing the hands in all the way hides it.

I'd be willing to repaint the gauntlets, but as SithThunder says the greens look a bit off all-round on the HT (not grey/blue enough), so I guess it would have to be part of a wider repaint which is pretty scary when you get to the helmet, so not a lot of point. Still looks very nice overall and huge improvement over the Sideshow version.

I'm using the DX PP helmet (which looks closer to correct Fett color) on this figure with the red/yellow gauntlets but was hoping to use the regular ESB gear for my custom Fett incudling helmet.

I’m pretty sure Hot Toys will release a Han Solo in carbonite. Probably will look better, have better proportions, better light effects, and a better base. Why not wait for that?

I really don't see HT making a Han in carbonite unless it's part of a set....personally i'd love to see a Deluxe DX TESB Solo set....along the same lines as the new Maul release....with the carbonite block optional to those who want it...

That’s an excellent idea! I’d buy that!

I would say it's cause of the light up features, but R2 has that. From their point of view, they probably consider it a favor to us collectors to charge under $300. All new Han in Carbonite w/lights, new base with various options w/lights.....it sounds all fancy, but in-hand it's like $150 fancy. I have the Hasbro one which kinda, sorta serves it's purpose. But yep, I do want this one.. especially now that I have this new Fett. I don't know if I could live with knowing that I paid about $270 for this damn thing though.

Based on pics before I got it, I agreed with the $150 assessment on the SSC Han Carb, but in-hand I did feel like the set was worth closer to the $200 range. I was much more impressed with it in-hand than I thought I'd be. There's some stupid, standard Sideshow errors on it, but it's a pretty great piece in-hand and a big step up on their previous effort (which I also owned, but had sold.)

And the way I rationalized it, this whole "wait for HT" thing only gets you so far - even IF HT announced it at SDCC, it wouldn't ship until END of NEXT YEAR, and even if they had announced it at SDCC, would it end up as yet another "never went to PO" item like the nearly a DOZEN HT Star Wars items that have been previewed but then go for years without PO.

My feeling was I needed a Han Carbonite now, not a Han Carbonite that MIGHT be announced to release in a year and a half - and might also be announced and NEVER see release at all.

People on here seem to have amnesia about that LONG list of SW items that were teased by HT, often repeatedly, but will never see light of day. I have certainly been really down on Sideshow in the past few months (that customs section thing was the last ****ing straw) and given up on them, but I'll bash any company that doesn't deliver, and HT is sometimes on that list in a multitude of ways.

When HT ESB Fett arrives, I take some pics next to the Carbonite.:yess:

I really hope they do it, but at this point you're looking at 2020 until it would actually arrive in your collection, man that seems like forever.

Good idea. But ..... there’s always this eternal problem with this hobby.

More DXs please! A Han Bespin DX with carbonite block would be a great set piece to go with the Bespin Luke DX. Then Bespin Chewie DX with busted up C-3PO and the cell diorama. I could go on.

While I like PERS/movable eyes, I don't get why that seems to be the bigger desingation for items being a DX rather than a) tons of accessories b) multiple bodies or c) big set pieces. Like I don't get how something like the MMS191 Tony Stark with armor testing station wasn't a DX with the big set piece and million little accessories you get, and then Keaton Batman is a DX with nothing but himself and a few accessories and rolling eyes.

It's good to know that there's a fair amount of people out there that are on the side of high quality with this piece. I thought I'd be content with my Hasbro version, as it's just a background piece. The more I look at this one and compare it to that huge headed, pannels don't stick out, super wide Hasbro one..it makes me want to put mine away in the closet of shame. Just look at this piece of ****:

The possibility of HT making one wasn't even on my radar until people started mentioning it a few days ago. Yeah, I have never had that mentality..if I sell a Sideshow version due to Hot Toys making one, then that's great, but either way I'll enjoy the one I have. It happened with every single trooper I bought, but fortunately even the SS figures don't depreciate in value.

If only Sideshow still did promo codes. I don't even know why they give you that option when you order something....maybe the superfans get them and the rest of us don't. Need me a 20% off coupon or something; then I'd jump on it and just eat bologna sandwiches for the next month.

I actually quite like the Solo sculpt on the hasbro carbonite. It's just closer to 1/5 scale in size, so pretty huge. And yeah the block part and control panels surrounding the hasbro are terrible.

And yeah, I got the SSC Han Carbonite for under retail so it did feel like a better deal. It should have been $199 and it would have been a solid value.

While the shape of the helmet is still very much off...it can look good from certain angles. But paint apps are fantastic and look very movie accurate. The wide right gauntlet is a strange one...maybe it was done to allow more wrist articulation? Gloves could be less shiny too. Love the jumpsuit...there's a nice subtle blue hue to it...only wish they would have bulked out the pockets....as they are blocky in empire.
Wookie braids, rifle and the wee pistol are all excellent..
