Nice set-up, DR. Helmet’s looking really good there. Tempted by the Han carbonite. How do you like them together?

Thanks.
Carbonite Han has been a piece I’ve wanted for a while since HT ROTJ Fett was my first 1/6 SW and SSC’s first offering has always been out of my reach so it’s kinda a grail piece for me. The Han “sculpt” could have been a little sharper. They look great together but will look much better with a HT Han in Carbonite! ;)

^^^Those pics make it look good. I’m looking for reasons to get it, and those just might’ve about done it lol

Get it!

I do have the Hasbro Han in carbonite in my display....and like you, I really wish I bought SS's first offering with that damn awesome Jabba's throne room wall. I even have mine in 'floating mode' via attaching one of those clear, round protectors that come packed with blank CD's and a little glass vase I picked up in the craft section at Walmart. Yeah, I think HT will eventually get around to making it. Question is, what kind of display options will it have. I don't see them making the wall since they've never done dioramas. I really wouldn't mind this new one, but I don't think I can justify the price it's going for since the Hasbro one does the job pretty well - despite it being too wide and the panels not sticking out like they should.

Outstanding photo comparisons! The two quoted above, in particular, are really helpful. Thank you very much for posting all of the pics!

When I saw the comparison from behind, it struck me how tiny the HT jetpack looked. So, I put a publicity photo of movie Fett in between the HT and SS figures to see more clearly how the jetpacks compare. Yeah, the HT one is hilariously undersized, especially the rocket part.

I think that front comparison pic is the best I've seen the HT helmet look so far (and even more recent images posted today are presenting it nicely too). Again, I put a movie Fett photo in between the figures. The HT Helmet matches quite well, but those gauntlets are an eyesore.

In my opinion, Sideshow wins on jetpack, cape, and gauntlets. HT clearly wins on helmet; and also on boots, holster, knee pads, crotch armor, and rifle. But both suffer from the chest armor having shape and proportion problems, the shoulder armor being placed a little funky, and the jumpsuit not being tailored quite right.

At least we're at the point now where a mashup of the different parts can be used to produce a damn good Fett. This new HT figure brought a lot of key upgrade pieces into the mix.

Thanks again for the great (and very helpful) photos, SithThundercracker.

Mh, you’re right. That jetpack seems way too small.
I feel like HT has a tendency to not want costumes to seem clunky even if they should and what makes the costumes so ‘real’. They tried to do the same with the helmet (on the proto), but we didn’t let them [emoji6] ...they did the same with the Death Star Gunner helmet which makes it so much less interesting. I’m so disappointed with that figure for that exact reason.
Always thought that the jetpack on my Jango was too big, because I thought the HT Fett was correct. Turns out I was wrong [emoji848] SSC has many flaws, but they’re rarely afraid of making costumes seem clunky when they should.
But I’ll have my HT Fett soon and I’m sure I’ll be happy(ish).

Thank mate. Lucky thing swapping jetpacks is super easy: SSC's has smaller hooks that fit inside HT's rings, HT's is magnetized so I just added a strong magnet inside the SSC armor for my Prepro.

Just wish that HT helmet and chest armor had a touch more grey/blue, but again - really hard to judge colors until it's in-hand.

Absolutley. If you see it next to my custom (that was made using DH guide), green is too "emerald" and less "mint".

Ha I definitely see what you guys mean now about the huge gauntlets. I might try using parts from my SS figure as well, although honestly I could probably live with the innacuracies here compared to those on a figure like Vader.

Why is ssc's cape better than ht's? Isn't ht's weathering better, with holes, etc?

I'm fully expecting to do a significant rebuild on this figure and I have pretty much all the SSC parts (and some Medi parts) plus some handmade chest and back armor pieces that I think are a bit more accurate closer than the HT, so will be interesting doing a swapping mashup of all the best parts.

What Medicom parts do you consider worthy of being used in this?

...and not having the LED light-up feature... right?

Thanks,
m.

No....could care less about a light-up feature. Like I said, the Hasbro one is just a bit too wide and the panels don't stick out far enough. I'd say with the slightly more accurate details and fancy schmancy light-up feature, the Sideshow one (just the block, not the base as well) is worth about $30 more than the Hasbo one.

Feeling better about this Boba than the ROTJ one. Similar issues but one of the main ones with the ROTJ was the overall olive color that was too prominent. This isn't perfect but it looks good on the shelf and the other nitpicks can be hidden a bit.

HT really dropped the ball on the jetpack and gauntlets....pooches on the jumpsuit need a little padding too..

Got the deluxe from Timcent yesterday, despite the nit-picks this figure is pure eye candy and a sight to behold. It makes the old RoTJ Fett look flat out embarrassing. I am not usually the type to get two of any figure, but I may make an exception for this one, if you are on the fence hope off. And I wasn't entirely sure if the deluxe was worth it but absolutely the way to go, you get so many additional parts.

I’m liking the way that the helmet sits slightly higher above the neckline on this version. Is that the way it sits out of the box or is there a slight mod involved?

That is how it sits, and agreed, the ROTJ one didn’t have enough neck. They clearly fixed that.

Does anyone know why Hot Toys made a completely different sidearm for Boba? I mean, it's so different than the one in the movie. First pic is of the actual blaster pistol, then we got the accurate SS one vs. this mystery HT version.

Can you please give us the reference to the picture of the “actual blaster pistol”, because our friends at the Dented Helmet forums would mostly disagree with you. In fact just google Boba Fett blaster pistol. Something should come up about a pulce spear gun their research into this prop.

Have a look at this page:

https://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=94683.0

The top one is what they keep putting in the action figures, including the Black Series versions.

the round gun is the esb movie version made from an old pulce 40 spear gun the square one is more like the version you get with some boba action figures

So it seems HT is right, while Sideshow and Wookieepedia are wrong - the latter have probably taken a photo of the Sideshow version.
