I recently saw the film again and I recant my previous belief that she seemed too overpowered in it.

In that last fight scene with Thanos, Thanos actually beat her and tossed her aside with his bare hands before he put on the Gauntlet. Then he put on the gauntlet and she returned to prevent him from being able to do the snap and had her glow-shield thing around her, which prevented Thanos from being able to really get her. That’s when he took the power stone and knocked her away again.

What I had difficulty fathoming is how Cap, Thor, and Iron Man all had a difficult time with Thanos without the Stones, when it was established in IW that Thanos had a difficult time with just Thor with the Stones.

Your point is definitely valid but Thor did kind of catch Thanos off guard in Infinity War. Kind of wish they had an actual fight in that movie after Thor got Stormbreaker.

I believe in the Infinity War commentary, they explain Thor getting the upper hand there as having caught Thanos off-guard. Which, y'know, not the most exciting explanation, but I think that's all they've said about it.

Edit: Ha, you beat me to it.

Yeah, plus Thanos in IF was not even wearing his battle armor.
Huge difference there too.

Like Batman fighting only as Bruce Wayne vs Fighting Batman with his costume and gadgets.

In the very beginning of the IF movie when Thanos was wearing his battle armor, Thor was all busted up.

Thanos' move of using the Power stone to knock out Captain Marvel actually reminded me of the WWE wrestling move of using a steel chair to knock down a strong opponent, lol. I think it was a smart move by Thanos. I enjoyed that action sequence.

:lol

Although after second viewing, my biggest question is: how was 2014 Nebula and Thanos able to travel separately through the Quantum Realm to 2023, off of one vial of Pym Particle (the one 2014 Nebula took from 2023 Nebula, that was good for only one trip)?

And it also occurred to me that the whole battle at the Avengers compound could have been avoided if Nebula had just immediately retuned to the compound upon finding out that 2014 Thanos was now privy of the future, as opposed to trying to call someone and giving the 2014 cadre enough time to capture her.

I read somepalce that they reverse engineered the Pym particles and i think she wanted to call because if she just returned then he could have captured the other team and they would have no warning.

Some at least mild explanation on the first point would have been nice then in that case. :lol

On the second, that’s true. Though based on what we learned in IW, Thanos presumably didn’t know the Soul Stone was located on Vormir (Nebula should know that because that’s why she was being tortured), and if Gamora knew back then, she obviously was keeping it hidden from him so he couldn’t find it.

I agree it was a smart move. Thanos had just watched her take out his warship single handedly, and when his head butt didn't phase her in the least and he couldn't close his fist, he likely quickly determined he needed to resort to a different tactic - cheating. :lol I'm a big CM fan but I was OK with this, as they needed a plausible way to have her NOT be the focus of the final battle. After that spectacular & overpowering entrance they gave her, it had to be convincing. Getting nailed with a Power Stone enhanced Thanos punch did the trick. With the exception of maybe Thor at his peak, I'm not sure any other Avenger even survives that. Definitely not the Big Green Dabber. :lol

I like how the Russo brothers came up with a creative way to show that CM is powerful but not omnipotent. It will be extremely boring if she has no weakness at all. The way Thanos did it made me laugh (because of the steel chair reference I made earlier) although I like CM as a character too.

Sigh, have a feeling I'm not going to be able to resist getting that Endgame figure. Even though I prefer her solo movie outfit, the new one still looked pretty damn cool in the movie and should make for a great looking HT figure.

The only shame is we probably won't get to see an intermediate version with the gold shoulders and longer hair now. Or get to argue endlessly about whether the sculpted or rooted hair looked best. :D

Yes, that'd be a real shame. But what will we do with all of that free time? :lol

I really enjoyed the power stone punch scene. She might be the strongest avenger but still not smart enough to beat Thanos.

Does that change your life in any way? Does that improve your position?

I don't think those arguments will continue unless the rooted hair people start it. Why? Because I think hot toys and rooted hair is done. Lets see.
