What is it about zombified characters, particularly heroes? What is the appeal?

Zombie Cap, Zombie Iron Man, Zombie Strange, Zombie stormtrooper... I'm trying to understand the appeal. Is it just an "ooo, that's sick" kind of thing? Is it seeing your favorite hero obliterated into a disgusting husk of torn flesh and cruel eyes? It's not the same thing as Sithifying someone, which fans seem to do more to women to make them dark and sexy. You don't see too much art of sexy zombified women, some but I think I could find Dark Mera before I could find zombie Mera.

I put it right in the same category as the -obsession- that folks have with Venomizing things...it feels like it stems from a certain era of making everything edgy. To preface, there's definitely a line to draw between the general audience here and people who are deep into our hobbies. It all fits with the hiked up trucks covered in punisher skulls, truck nuts, and the Calvin peeing on things. Zombies are cool, so you can't be a dork if you like the zombified version of something. At least back then when being a geek wasn't such a ubiquitous thing. Gotta look tough lest you're not whole or something.

That being said, I think when they're used in context, there's something to it. Like Strange in MoM it worked, and it was a nice homage to Rami's history. That was enough for me to be interested in grabbing the Dead Strange.

This probably made more sense in my head than in words but...here we are.

His hair wasn't hanging at the sides in the movie, it looks a bit weird.

Not true, at some point the sides did fray and hang down. The only problem is it's a bit too long on the figure.

I think part of the appeal of these zombie type figures is that they usually have so MUCH extra detail and nuance in terms of damage, anatomy and other aspects and these are usually executed in an impressive show of craftmanship that it essentially becomes an elevated example of the type of things that draw many people into this hobby in the first place.

And...it's just a cool moment from a movie scene that a lot of people liked.

That too! :ROFLMAO:
What's crazy is that the movie goes on just long enough that you forget that he was still buried there.
And I'm thinking who is Strange gonna dream walk in and ......ooooooooooooOOOOOHHHHHHH!
I love movie moments that still get me like that! And yes, he looks damn cool! All that detail is gonna be enough to traumatize my kids for years when they walk by it haha

Kind of surprised the IMDB rating is so low for this one, I just watched it in 4K at home and for me its one of the best Marvel movies I've seen. Its superbly shot, the visual style is amazing, literally pages out of a fantasy novel or comic book brought to life.
