That isn't the point and I highly doubt it collectiblity / figure wise. The point is rather than take a risk doing Elias and Rorschach and giving something back to the people who invested in those lines, they abandon them and do this instead because they want to give back to the asian market? :dunno It makes no sense and I find it insulting.

I don't think HT gives two ****s about who got them where they are. They are only concerned about bringing in money, and that means Iron Man, Batman, and every once in a while throwing a bone specifically to the Asian market I guess.

You sound like a whiny little honkie.

Hot Toys have not catered to their Asian market in a long time so, why criticize this release like a spoiled little brat from the west?, its not like this figure took long to develop anyway.

If he is huge in Asia and there is a demand which you clearly have no idea if there is, don't criticize..accept it, respect it and move on.

I doubt Elias does as well as this figure, if this guy is as big in Asia as he supposedly is. I can live without Elias and keep Taylor and Barnes and not feel jipped off, at least we got the two main characters from Platoon..i'm more then satisfied.

Well they said they've been pursuing this for a long time. It may very well have been way before Watchmen figures were made too.

This. I've been waiting for more Asian market based stuff since Enterbay has had some neat things. Also lets not resort to name calling. We're civilized adults with jobs collecting nerd plastic. :p

And they have had a history of doing pretty Asia-specific releases, from Friend, to Goemon, to the anime characters, to the other Asian pop star guy. So I don't really see this as a change in behavior.

Oh correction, Bok gwai then. XD

I can't tell you how many times I've thought to myself, if only I weren't born a rich, privelaged white kid in America. Ah well, gotta roll with the hand we're delt.

No matter how popular a singer/actor is I'd find it weird to purchase a figure based on their real life self (as opposed to a character they played) if they killed themselves in such a public and dramatic fashion. Imagine if some American star jumped off the top floor of the Empire State Building and landed on the street below. That'd be all I'd ever associate with that person. Well not all but they'd be forever linked to that event.

Anyone who purchases this better be sure to pose it correctly. Imagine the odd morbidity of the figure itself losing its balance and "shelf diving."

Oh man. I don't think that post was supposed to be funny, but I loled.

This is the first time I go into a thread and feel offended ... :panic::panic::panic:

I knew this thread would be full of ignorant people who immediately shut down someone's "worth as a figure" basically due to lack of exposure to that person.

Seriously leave the trolling and "why don't they do X" to some other thread. And the Asian jokes especially make me feel like this community might still be in the 1800s mentality wise.

*This response is not directed specifically at Deckard because clearly many of us feel the same way, me included to some extent.

However, please remember HT is a private company and they can do whatever they want regardless of what you or I think we know about their risks and decisions.

I have 0 interest in this figure but I don't see the release in this figure being the reason Rorschach never made it out to our shelves (I won't pretend to know the real reason but my guess is because they wanted to release more figures from other new "USA-FRIENDLY" liscenses as they have been doing 99% of the time?). How is this specific Asian-specific release the reason Rorschach got axed? Why so much hate? If they want to play tribute to anyone thats their choice.

As many of you pointed out, IF this seems like a "dumb" move since they could potentially make more "global" money by making figures in the Watchmen, Suckerpunch, (more ironman or batman anyone?), and etc, then maybe it IS TRUE that they are simply interested in playing tribute to a local star THIS RELEASE and not out for the "local" money. Or for the cynical, maybe they are not playing tribute to local star but only out to get "local money"...whatever floats your boat, point is they can do whatever they want at the end of the day and what is to say they are not giving something back to the cash cow investors that is the Predator / Batman / Ironman collectors?

I also find it insulting that Hot Toys do not consult me on which figure should be next.

If they would have they'd know the correct answer is Snake Plissken.

This could have been Blake..or Ra's......sigh
But HT has a bread and butter Asian market to cater to whicch is fine...
