I like Affleck Batman/Bruce Wayne. Liked it & defended him when it was first announced as opposed to all the hate. It's too bad. A new trilogy would take nearly 10 years. DCEU films leading up to a Flashpoint or Crisis of Infinite Earths to sort this out? Super Geoff Johns to the rescue.

They are saying that the Batman Matt Reeves movie is not part of the dceu, and lex is not part of Justice league now, coming soon.net. . Warner Bros is making it a mess

Who is they? The usual clickbait sites and youtube channels? Not long ago the same sources said the Shazam movie wouldn't be part of the DCEU, that turned out to be false. They said Wonder Woman was a mess. :lol It doesn't matter to them when this stuff is later revealed to be nonsense. They still got the clicks and revenue from their BS articles.

Reeves will have creative freedom to do his own thing just as Patty Jenkins did with Wonder Woman so it will be separate in that sense but still connected to the DCEU. I'd still be very surprised if Affleck isn't Batman for at least two more movies.

Reboot Warner Bros., They are the problem obviously. Can't keep a director, now they are begging directors with whatever they want. What's going to happen with the dceu is up in the air. I hate recast actors for characters, it never feels right again. But Jesse eisenberg is lex now, if they cut him from the movie, then there is no Deathstroke either. I hope not because I was looking forward to the scene and him. Maybe there will be a DVD director cut

Coming soon. Net. They are usually pretty accurate, but hope it is all false news.

Comingsoon is pretty accurate. The thing is Matt was quoted saying it is NOT part of the dceu. Unless he clarifies that statement no one can come in and say "bu bu bu but thats not what he meant".

From a Reddit post: "Take a breath. The interview with Matt was two days before Comic Con. Batman was on the movies announced on the DCEU panel. He means that the story is constraint in the Batman world, like the comic books."

I still think it's a simple misunderstanding. It won't have a direct connection to the wider DCEU, no cameo's from non Batverse characters etc. Reeves said fairly recently, July I think, that Affleck will be his Batman. A very self contained story is what I'd expect but still the same actors and Gotham setting from the DCEU.

Surely WB aren't dumb enough to think they can have two separate big screen versions of Batman existing simultaneously? It would totally undermine Affleck and the whole DCEU. Their last movie has a 92% approval rating and just passed $800m.

Why not just wait for official statements as opposed to promulgating nothing but unfounded rumors? Though I've noticed many of the people doing so are the ones who dislike the DCEU and want a reboot because it's not what they prefer.

The problem is it's so damn hard to put any good faith behind DC/WB. The whole DCEU has been on shakey ground pretty much since the beginning and now it kind of feels like they're acknowledging that and are backtracking on what they're doing. It's a mess honestly. I mean one day we get news about a Joker origin film that's not connected to the DCEU and now we're getting news that the Matt Reeves film is going to be its own thing. Why even have a DCEU honestly? Why build up the last few films to Justice League and also be planning other projects on the side that involve some of the same characters? Its like there's no rhyme or reason for their decisions just whatever sounds good today. It's absurd and just ridiculous and as a fan it's irritating as hell. I can only imagine how confused a casual viewer must be by all of this. I follow it and I don't know what the hell they're doing and I definitely don't think DC/WB fully knows what they're doing.

For now, I'm just going with they have MoS, BvS, SS, WW and are moving forward into JL, so I'm just going to enjoy it for at least the time being because I personally like the DCEU and what they've done and set up thus far. What happens beyond JL remains to be seen and my guess is as good as anyone else's. I'm not worried about it at the moment.

This new Joker origin movie might be a masterpiece but I still believe it should never be made. I'm firmly in the camp that think the Joker's origin should forever remain a mystery. It's the one thing I didn't like about Batman 89 and what made Ledger's Joker so special.

If they really are making a new Batman universe presumably it would be yet another origin movie. If that's the case I'm really not interested, the last Nolan movie was only five years ago.

Also what is the obsession with trilogies. Why not two, four or five movies.

Until any of this is confirmed I don't believe WB would be dumb enough to undermine their own movies by essentially competing with themselves.

I'm gonna take the idea of the Batman movie not being part of the DCEU, like someone mentioned earlier, as the movie just not including any other characters or plot points from the rest of the universe. Everything could just be contained within the Bat family of characters and Gotham.

That's what I'm assuming and hoping. It can be stand alone and still in the same universe.

Except the quote by Matt Reeves is saying it won't be part of the DCEU..

The same Matt Reeves who said Affleck will be his Batman only two months ago. These supposed comments were made a month ago on some radio show and only just being reported now? The timing seems odd. A day after the talk of the new Joker movie. More than a little suspicious.

No hope for WB...I really wanted their universe to work but look where we are now.. only WW is their shining crown..

And honestly its not that shiney.....

WB has made a mess of DC.........

Why should we feel this is any different? They got one good film out of 4? I think anyone who sees the trailer and thinks this will be great is either a diehard fan (good for them!!) or in denial.

They are committed , good or bad. I think they also know this film will make them cash due to they average film goer and the diehards.

But in the end it will be utterly forgettable and a great source of Meme's

I can't say that I don't believe it though. The announcement of a Joker film outside the DCEU actually gives me more reason to think that a Batman film that stands alone is something they're considering. It's like they don't have a clear direction for what they're doing and frankly I don't think they ever have.

I just can't give WB/DC any goodwill to think they're not somehow screwing things up. The manner in which they've handled the DCEU so far is such a sloppy, convoluted mess and it's ridiculous. It shouldn't be this hard but it's like they're making the dumbest decisions over and over. Eventually the DCEU is just going to fizzle out completely I feel like because there doesn't seem to be a clear direction for it. They're constantly making announcements and yet no progress seems to be happening on most of them. The films they've made thus far really haven't been that great, even Wonder Woman while better in comparison to what came before it is an average film for the superhero genre and I feel has been somewhat overrated by fans who wanted a good film and latched on hard to the first decent one. The universe building they've done so far hasn't been very well done and major characters are being handled in ways that most agree aren't the best.

There just seems to be new drama every few weeks with one of their projects and I can't just sit back and ignore it. There's clearly a problem behind the scenes and it doesn't seem to matter what talent they throw behind what they're making (there are a bunch of great actors and directors on these films) because without a sense of what it is they're actually doing things are going to continue to just flounder. It's honestly amazing how badly it seems like they've screwed things up.

I'm sure fans are going to rush to call me a DC hater or a Marvel fanboy but neither are true. I just continue to be utterly confused and frustrated with how these characters are being handled so poorly.

As a big Batman and Wonder Woman fan, I am 1/2 from the DCEU.
