OK good. I had a thought in my mind how crap would it be if Affleck decided he wanted out between JL 1&2 (if it were a 2 part story).

Still, I can imagine they will probably not want to stop with just 1 JL film. But I guess if there was another in a couple of years (or less) then a different Batman would be not ideal, but OK.

It's tiresome when they keep repeating the same baseless rumours though. Last weeks headlines with Casey saying Ben was done with the role...despite admitting he'd just made it up was a new low. They still ran with that misleading headline though.

I seriously doubt WB would want to re-cast a younger Batman anytime soon when Affleck has proved so popular despite the overall reviews for BvS.

yeah yet the so-called experts here keep insisting he's leaving- time for them to find a new angle to trash the DCU

Yesterday it was because he stepped down as director and writer of the Batman film so that we he can focus on the acting, which must mean he wants out of the franchise because it's a "mess".

Today it's the studio is planning to can him because he's too old, and also because his brother jokingly said he's leaving.

Tomorrow it'll be an anonymous source of a friend of a friend who used to know the person who watched Jennifer Lopez's dog on occasion, recalled that the dog sitter once told them that Lopez told the dog sitter that Ben once told her during dinner that Batman is his least favorite superhero while they were dating 15 years ago. Now if that's not evidence that he's leaving the DCEU as Batman, I don't know what is.

Like you said, if they want to try and subvert the DCEU, they should find a new angle instead of continuing to chase this Affleck-is-leaving fairytale. However, I mean you can only cry wolf so many times and so frequently, before people eventually start to say bull*****, whether that comes in the form of finding new angles constantly, or constantly coming up with new reasons within the same angle.

How about an origin joker movie produced by Scorsese thats NOT part of the dceu with a NEW actor sounds?...

Like sj2106 said, to me Affleck has gotten too good of a response for Warner Bros to let him go from the franchise. And if some people are making up the reason as him being "too old" for the role, he doesn't do all of his own stunts. Almost the entire warehouse fight in BvS was done by Richard Cetrone and Albert Valladares. From what I can see he just did the ground and pound punches to the thug on the ground, and some of the basic shots where he's not fighting.

So really that shouldn't be a valid reason to cast a younger Batman. Unless they just wanted the character himself to be younger.

I really hope that's not the case. We've seen a young Batman already with Keaton and Bale origin stories. It's refreshing to see something different and I'm loving the contrast with a young Superman. I don't care about the latest Spiderman, not because it's a bad movie, I'm just tired of seeing him as a high school kid.

Not from Rotten Tomatoes. :chase

Agreed. An older, more seasoned Batman is certainly a refreshing and different take.

I never check Rotten Tomatoes to be honest. I just see it on other websites on the internet, forums, and people I talk to in person. And I haven't seen any constant complaints about Ben as Batman actually. I'm glad people like him, as that should influence Warner Bros to not reboot the character again any time soon.

I like this iteration of Batman too. In Justice League he'll probably be back to his old ways of no killing, and that I'm looking forward to.

I hope we get a Justice League reveal before the end of the month. But at the same time I don't know if I want that, since we're about to get a slap of Last Jedi figures up for PO next Friday. Depends how many of those I'll want. Still would be great to see another JL figure. There's still at least six more to go.

I hope so. We don't need a other origins retelling. We need a Batman right where his prime crime-fighting years are.....

You just may get that with a re-cast younger Batman for Matt Reeves' trilogy outside of the DC Extended Universe. Ben Affleck is done with Batman. There's no way he could ever reveal he won't continue to be Batman "as long as Warner Bros would have him" before the Justice League premiere.

The Matt Reeves Batman is taking place within the DCEU though. I'd expect Affleck to be there for a minimum one of those movies and another Justice League. Whether they phase him out out Batman Beyond style after that who knows.

Indeed. It's a nice comfortable age range because it allows the possibility of seeing a fully
realized Bat-family whereas a younger Batman negates that.

Agreed.

I think the storyline that was being given if Ben left was that they would kill him off, and then Flash would go back in time and recruit a younger Batman and convince him to stay with the JL in the present, or something like that.

If they wanted to make the first stand alone Batman film a prequel to MoS, BvS and SS, I could see them in that case getting a younger actor for just that one film to portray a younger version of Ben's Batman and let Ben direct and write the film; which I think would be easy for him in that case because he'd essentially write and direct the film from the perspective as if he were playing Batman himself, being that it's simply a younger version of his Batman and would therefore, have all the same mannerisms as he does in his portrayal of Batman.

Or you could simultaneously have two Batmans where the stand alone Batman films all take place prior to MoS, BvS and SS that depict his rise and his gradual descent into darkness to where he came to have the state of mind that he had in BvS, while Ben continues to reprise the role as the "present" Batman in JL films and heavy appearances in stand alone films of other characters. While once again, letting Ben direct and write those stand alone films, thus giving him control over the character.

They are saying that the Batman Matt Reeves movie is not part of the dceu, and lex is not part of Justice league now, coming soon.net. . Warner Bros is making it a mess
