It's pretty laughable really when you think about it. How hard can it be to make a decent Superhero movie ? Especially for a studio the size of WB.

I know it's not as simple as that and it's easy to say, but c'mon take your time, get your s'*t together and put something together that is great.

Personally for my taste, I think they do it better than the MCU, but the box office is what ultimately matters to them, not my opinion.

And Superman is really a standout in this movie. It's the perfect time to give him a true stand alone sequel not reboot and start from scratch. Even those who hated him in MoS and BvS now have the hopeful Superman they waited for. Cavil is perfect for this role. In interviews you can tell how much it means to him getting to play the character. I hope he's in Shazam to.

They obviously won't reboot while Wonder Woman is still so popular. Aquaman already has his movie done, this Flash is a big hit with audiences and Ray Fisher certainly deserves more time as Cyborg. The only serious question is around Affleck if he no longer wants to continue but one way or another The Batman is going to happen.

Affleck would be dumb to leave, at least to me. He's finally in a role where he's been widely praised as shining in the role, yet he wants to ditch it.

I won't be seeing the movie until Tuesday or Wednesday when my son gets into town, but am still disappointed to see the reviews and box office thus far. However there is the Thanksgiving holiday, and it has been performing well internationally ($180M), so maybe it will reach the $500M worldwide mark next week. Warner should wait a few more weeks to see how things are tracking and in necessary release the Snyder cut if that's what it takes to get it to $1B. I usually don't see movies more than once at the theater but would make a return trip to see an alternative cut just to see which version I preferred.

Movie failed on all fronts. Im not sure why they have such a hard time when Batman and Superman are involved. Failed with MoS, failed with BvS, failed with SS, now failed with JL.

Just waiting for them to do Flashpoint so it resets both the in-movie universe as well as studio staffing and audience expectation.

I don't think WB will ditch the current DCEU. If they do and then try and reboot it again, I think it'll make them look like ***** even more. That would essentially mean three Superman reboots in a little over a decade. I wouldn't be surprised at that point if critics would be salivating to rip a newly established franchise apart as well; at this point now just to basically troll them just for humor, being that they keep trying and trying and keep wondering where they're going "wrong".

As far as the film, I honestly don't think it strayed too much from being a Snyder-esque film. It still didn't feel MCU to me at all, as the humor really wasn't that corny and wasn't in abundance. While still more family friendly than MoS and BvS, it still didn't quite feel as family friendly as a MCU film to me.

Reviews of the DCEU have really been erratic: too serious, not serious enough, too much CGI, bad CGI, not enough humor, too much humor, get rid of Snyder, bring back Snyder, etc.

Too many chefs in the kitchen- WB needs to let the filmmaker do his thing and not interfere if they feel it is going south. I think ZERO chance we will see Snyder's full version BECAUSE of the meddling- WB isn't going to admit to going in and messing with the original film

The problem is- right or wrong- Cavill's Supes is now associated with a failed version in the course of three films- well not so much MOS but BvS and JL...are they going to chance it one more time? I hope they have enough sense to do so and with a great director in charge- (George Miller my choice but it won't happen)

I personally just can't fathom why this universe is so "bad" compared to the MCU. Like I said, especially with the complaints about it being so erratic, it's difficult to pinpoint what exactly people want to see.

Like I mentioned: too serious, not serious enough, not lighthearted enough, too lighthearted, not enough humor, too much humor, too much CGI, not enough CGI, ditch Snyder, bring back Snyder. :dunno

The maligning of this universe has seemed to be just as much of a ****fest, if not even more so, than what they claim the universe itself is.

Anything connected to Snyder including his choices of actors MCU pundits want no part of..

I laugh at these folks calling CW great- it was a huge misfire with no real war civil or not and not good enough reason even to have it. Naturally it gets a HUGE pass and aclaim:lol

Yeah, just Snyder, in general, ruins whatever he touches. He didnt have any creative input on the DC Animated Films, thats why they were much better than the live-action ones.

$180M internationally for this movie isn't very good. Oh and how are you talking about a billion dollars? :cuckoo:
It'll likely fall $250M short of that.

Sighz.. i really love MOS and BvS... I was hoping JL would be in the same tone and direction.. but sadly, WB make a financial decision, to turn it into something for general audience. It turns me off alittle. Can't really deny that I am disappointed.
I hope one day we will get a Snyder cut on the film.

If it comes down to money, which it always does, I'm sure they'll decide to do an extended cut to try and boost BluRay sales and earn a bit more.

I said they should consider releasing a Snyder cut in order to try to get it to $1B. It's clear it won't hit that mark with this version on its own.

Anything that isn't Wonder Woman or Aquaman, WB needs to put on hold, or outright scrap entirely. I'll bet WB is probably kicking themselves for even making an Aquaman movie, but there's no stopping it from coming as it's already been filmed. They really need to take a step back, and maybe let some of these characters sit for a few years before wiping the slate clean, and starting fresh with new interpretations.

they might do that but fear is superhero movies will be out of fashion in five years..so i think they will even expand the roster with more dc films featuring different dc characters and hope for some hits

Superman and Batman are new interpretations though; at least for what's been done in film.

Not sure about that. Outside of superhero films and Star Wars, nobody really seems to give a crap about films/Hollywood these days; myself included. Most of these award shows now are just self laudatory events in which Hollywood gives themselves a round of applause and pats themselves on the back, reassuring themselves they're still relevant and that it's an honor to be part of their elite club.

Exactly. New characters is just what Marvel has used to make some epic movies. I'm thinking Guardians of the Galaxy. Who would have thought a story about a walking tree, a raccoon and the rest of relatively unknowns would be a hit ?? Not me.

Maybe DC should give the reins of the next film to Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman director) ?? The critics certainly must love her now.

For now- if WW2 doesn't do as well she will be thrown to the wolves

Well I think superhero fatigue is already setting in- all the MCU films are leveling out around the same amount of money- will there be another $700 million domestic hit? I doubt it. Don't count on IW if that is what you're thinking
