So I just got back from seeing the film. I'll try and summarize my sentiments on it as best as I can without being too much all over the place:

I personally thought the film was really good. I liked it better than both the first Avengers and AoU myself. While I did enjoy A1, I thought the whole helicarrier sequence was a big lull and got a bit soporific. This film had me engaged the whole time and didn't feel like it had any lulls.

The score was weak compared to both MoS and BvS, but I did like the slight nods to both 89 Batman and 78 Superman by having their respective themes sprinkled in. I also thought the CGI on Steppenwolf was a bit rough, but meh. It was decent.

Damn, Superman was POWERFUL. Did he gain strength during his rebirth? He literally manhandled the JL all at once, including WW, during the sequence when he was confused about who he was right after his rebirth, and threw Steppenwolf around like a rag doll at the end. The way he pounded him into the ground and stood menacingly over him was almost...scary. Steppenwolf literally stood NO chance against Superman, I mean none. I feel like Supes though has come full circle now; he was very Reeve-esque in this film to me. You could tell Henry himself has grown into the role as well, and has it nailed. I also like the introduction of freeze breath, which I wonder if was intended to be an ability he gained during his rebirth. His suit in this was darker than what the suit on the prototype figure boasts. Slightly lighter than BvS, but darker than the suit on the prototype figure. The muscles seemed a little more enhanced though and seemed to have a different pattern than BvS.

The film to me also for the most part still felt Snyder-esque. Some parts you can tell weren't, but I still for the most part thought you could tell it was a Snyder film. While I'd still be interested to see a full, extended version, I thought this cut was still fine and unlike the theatrical cut of BvS, didn't feel like anything was unexplained.

The stars of the film I thought were Flash and Superman. Flash was such a snowflake, but that's what made him hilarious. Aquaman was hilarious as well, especially when he just all of a sudden started rambling and giving a group pep speech as well, not privy that the lasso of truth was underneath him. I thought the coming together of the JL felt more natural and less forced than the Avengers, as each of them had their own reasons for wanting to join and fight on their own accord, rather than having someone (Nick Fury) tell them to come together.

The film got a large applause at the end, including myself.

And I think it's safe to say the JL WW is indeed intended to be an amalgamation of the JL and solo WW versions, as she does not wear the cloak at all in this film, yet the figure still includes it.

I think I'm still happy with my BvS figures though and will refrain from getting many figures from this.

We pretty much have the same sentiments on the movie.
On superman being more powerful, I don't think so...I think he is already this powerful.
Which is why I think a lot of people didn't get with the ending fight of MoS, some people thought there was too much destruction. You have two superman fighting, two gods fighting is gonna cause all that destruction.

The thing with superman is that most of the time, he is holding back, but just like what batman said in BvS, he has the power to destroy earth.
Seeing him unleashed on the JL, you can see why it's a good thing he's on our side.
I freaking love how in the end, the JL was still getting manhandled by steppenwolf, and superman comes in, and slaps him around like absolutely nothing.
When you think about it, on the sequence where it took amazons, atlanteans, green lantern to defeat steppenwolf, and superman destroys him alone...it was freaking amazing to witness superman's true power.

That's true regarding Superman. Although you would think there were plenty of chances in which he could have used freeze breath in both MoS and BvS, but didn't. So even though he may have always been this powerful strength wise, I wonder if freeze breath is something new he gained?

Even though I love WW, my favorite superhero of all time is Superman and my dad is a big WW fan. He's always trying to make an argument on how she'd give Superman a run for his money. After this? Uh, no. Sorry. WW is indeed a force to be reckoned with, but got manhandled by Supes. Especially when she said, "Don't make me do this," as if she thought she was going to unleash her full power on him, but he just basically smiled and sent her flying back 50 feet.

And yes, I also love how he just manhandled Steppenwolf at the end, and it shows why Steppenwolf sweat him so much. He was obviously petrified of "The Kryptonian". Like you said, with the exception of maybe WW, he felt the rest of the league was pretty much insignificant. They were all getting manhandled by Steppenwolf and I forgot who it was he said it to, but Superman then comes in and either said "This guy bothering you again" or "This guy giving you a hard time again" (forgot what it was exactly) and proceeds to just pummel him into the ground with ease and stand over him menacingly as if saying "do yourself a favor and just stay the ****** down." I mean he just owned him.

Even though I love Reeve's Superman, I do think Cavill's Superman has been the best rendition of demonstrating just how strong he really is, to borrow a line from Superman IV. :lol

I also wonder if Bruce's contingency plan of having Lois Lane calm Superman down if Superman went bonkers (which he did) is what Flash was referring to in BvS when he told Bruce that Lois Lane is the key?

Yes, I read that breakdown elsewhere, and although I'm actually thinking it's weird for me to admit it, cause I freaking love Snyder, but I think WB was right in bringing whedon in.

I love MOS, and BvS, two of the top all time personal favorite superhero movie of mine. But I can see some of the nitpicks that it could have used some more lighter moments.
Seeing the breakdowns on which one is Snyder, and which one is whedon, I love both parts.
Whedon brought in the lighter elements to make Snyder's movie lighter and even more fun.
So I think it was a brilliant move by WB.
I also think they were correct in keeping the movie to 2 hours, sometimes even when the movie is really good, when it gets past 2 hours, there are many people who would feel that some parts were dragged out it could have been a little shorter.
So it catered to this general public as well...and I felt that the running time is fine, I'm fine seeing the longer parts on an extended bluRay.

So, Ultimately I think the decisions made by warner, and the work by the two directors worked.
I truly love and enjoyed the movie. It was nice to see most of the people think so also, as most of the people clapped at the end of the movie.

Yea they both brought something different to the table. I would mind seeing them work together again. The unfortunate passing of Snyder’s daughter is the only reason we got to see Whedon step in so some things seemed a little disjointed but I love what they both did for the film

I think the problem with dc is, not put the icon characters to shine alone, i think that a solo batman movie would break a lot of records, with affleck or someone in the suit
Its cool we are getting shazan, aquaman and flash, but everyone want a batman solo or a superman sequel, they would probably clean all the bad fellings about the DCEU

Yes, I love both Reeve and Keaton, for first bringing the two icons first to life on the big screen.
But both are for nostalgic reason.

That's why I have a huge respect for Snyder.
He came in, and for me, brought the best batman, superman, and wonderwoman on the big screen.
That's a huge achievement considering until he showed up, I still thought the best superman was Reeve, and... the I guess the only Wonder Woman is Linda carter. And I also thought Keaton was the best batman until afleck.

Yeah I agree on all counts regarding all three characters. My sentiments as well.

So is there anyone who's planning to get all six characters?

Glad you loved the Superman bits! Flash realising Supes was in his speed force was hilarious and scary at the same time :lol The way he owned the entire league in that scene will be as ingrained in my memory as Reeve's helicopter rescue in the 78 Superman I think.

Really it was the perfect way to re-introduce him without going down the full evil Superman route and still save his heroic return to the suit for the final act. Reminded me of the feeling I had watching Superman 2 the first time when he shows up again having regained his powers ("general, would you care to step outside"). :lol

I have seen some fans suggesting the motherbox made him even more powerful when it resurrected him but they didn't really allude to that in the movie so who knows.

I think some of the complaints out there regarding the others being made less powerful in Superman's presence are unfair to. They were only trying to restrain him more than hurt him so wasn't a real fight in that sense. They did seem to downplay WW's powers a little in the final battle when you consider how well she stood up to Doomsday and Ares but I didn't mind them making this more about Superman. It was his trilogy after all.

It makes me appreciate his journey in the previous two movies even more now. Not playing favourites with Reeve but Cavil has had more of an arc rather than just being the perfect Superman from the get go. It just feels more earned. Now we just need his next solo movie. I'd be disappointed if a poor box office for this movie meant we never got another Cavil Superman solo movie.

Also loved the shirt rip at the end and the post credits scene with Flash.

Finally I Liked Luthor much better here even though it was the briefest cameo in the after credits. I wonder If HT will make a Deathstroke figure now

Don't count this film out yet- it still might be a success at box office - too early but the real question is what WB will do next?

Yeah, I had no objections with the way he returned. Him saying "I believe in truth. But I especially stand for justice" is just as witty and Superman-esque as "General. Would you care to step outside?" I can see why they cut out the scene with Alfred that was in the trailer where he told presumably Superman "let's hope you're not too late." It's not like Superman needed to be told where the fight was, I'm sure he was able to hear where it was taking place. The only thing I wish is they played the small excerpt of the 78 Superman theme for his return, the way they did when he was resurrected. I personally think it would have been more fitting for his return in the suit.

I never considered the motherbox potentially enhancing his abilities, that's a good point. It's a possibility. It's sort of the same argument one could make how Vision was able to lift Mjolnir in AoU due to him having the mind stone, and the power of the Infinity Stone outweighed the power of Mjolnir.

At first it seemed like they were merely trying to restrain him, but then it seemed like WW was going to go all out on him due to her saying "please don't make me do this," but he just simply smirked and sent her flying 50 feet back. And yes, the look on Flash's face when he saw that Superman saw him coming in his peripheral vision was hilarious.

I agree with Remy that at this point, I merely like Reeve's version for nostalgic purposes. He was my Superman growing up, but for all intents and purposes, this rendition really is more interesting and showcases Supes's true power.

I don't think it will do poorly at the box office. It currently has an 86% audience score on RT (with more audience reviews for this than Thor 3) and in my theater, everyone clapped at the conclusion of the film. Remy mentioned that everyone did the same at his. So it seems like it's a hit so far with audiences.

Clapping is nice but all that counts is the $$$$ with WB- since this one will do less than WW or BvS that's diminishing returns. No JL2 at least for now- probably no MOS 2 either. A shame

Clapping means people enjoyed it though, which means they'll tell others that it was enjoyable. Strong word of mouth means it may pique the curiosity of others to see it, which means more money.

Let's hope......those "experts" keep saying no no no

Glad some others enjoyed the film :) Supes is my number 1 so I was happy to see how they handled him in this film.

Standouts were definitely Superman and Flash. I hope we see more of these 2 together on screen because I can see Superman being a great role model for Barry.

The added humor from Whedon I thought worked fine, but the overall tone of the movie still felt a little too light and carefree to me, considering what they were up against. And I think it really could have benefited from at least a bit of that heavier and more serious tone that Snyder brought to MOS and BvS.

Unfortunately it seems the studio was more concerned with simply mimicking Marvel than with finding a tone that was most appropriate for the story.

There was huge applause multiple times during my viewing of Godzilla 2014 and that had some of the worst box-office legs in recent history, so clapping really doesn't transfer into WOM.

They're also actually being called out now for rating it so poorly, according to what I read in some articles.
Yeah, with a B+ from Cinemascore and upper 80s audience rating on rotten tomatoes, there's a big disconnect. If anything, JL shows the inherent flaw of Rotten Tomatoes' scoring system.
