Don't be too upset about this Hot Toys Endo being too "clean". I won't be surprised that they will release a weathered or battle damaged version.

Good point. Look at the "Damaged" ED 209 for a point of reference. Still, there is something to be said about the die-cast badassness of the Aoshima version. The thing could be used as a flail in a crisis situation.

Yeah, basically anything that looks like a piston on the Aoshima version is a working one. I imagine that the Hot Toys would be the same... especially if McFarlane was able to pull it off in their Movie Maniacs figure.

so which endo u guys think will be the better version? Aoshima or HT?

oh and i seem to recall that the Aoshima is a bit on the short side. that true?

Yeah, I think the Aoshima has the same differences in the metric conversion as the Medicoms.

Personally, I'll take the Hot Toys over the Aoshima.

hey guys...bout the chrome thing..it's really easy to do if you're fine with taking apart..here's my aoshima 1/6 termy chromed and blown up,nicely resting in a food tray :lol
the flash makes the paintjob look gritty, but it's really beautiful in fronta you.
i'll post what i have when it's completed.

I'm not sure what Clarenced used, but I've seen some people use Alclad chrome paint with some amazing results.

Where do you get the chrome paint Clarenced?

yup, used alclad chrome..initially i used chrome for lexan, that's more for cars.
wasnt so brilliant, till i stripped the whole thing and used pure chrome.

gotta slap on a glossblack basecoat first,t hat brings out the chrome brilliantly...don't know how or why though

The gloss black basecoat acts like a mirror. It's opaqueness gives the chrome it's reflective ability. Take a look at a standard mirror and you will see that it has a black coating behind the mirrored glass.

Nope, the Aoshima is definitely 1/6. I have one and he is the same size as my other Sideshow figures and much taller than the Medicom Luke:

And if you figure that he's this tall w/o shoes or hair on the top of his head he would definitely work for a taller character. Also it doesn't hurt that he's like 90% die-cast.

From the proto-pics it does look like overall the sculpts are very similar on these figures, but Hot Toys may have a bit more detail in the face, and their paint really seems to highlight the sculpt better than the clean Aoshima version, especially in the grooves on the front of the thighs and shins.

I really think this will be a wide release as many collectors will buy more than one. I'm guessing SSC and their affiliate dealers will be selling them here...

Isn't the Aoshima version diecast? If so you can polish it.

There is a coat of paint on the Aoshima version... it has a bit of a metal flake to it. But sadly still doesn't approximate chrome very well.

That thing must be heavy. He'd make a good paper-weight. :D

No doubt, I think he's around 3lbs... at least thats what I've heard before. There is a definite heft to the figure, but the the joints that bear a lot of weight are ratcheted so you don't have to worry about him toppling over or not holding poses. If there is one reason to get the Aoshima version it would be the amazing amount of engineering that went into it.

One reason I take the HT over Aoshima is the light-up eyes. If there was some way to drill a couple of LEDs into the Aoshima eyes and paint the teeth that would improve it a lot.

Yeah, light-up eyes would have put the Aoshima over the top... and they really should have painted the teeth! :lol
