And just to explain how easy in case the other thread wasn't clear..you take these small "u" clamps and screw them to the metal frame at the place you want the shelf. By doing so you keep the same number of shelves just redistribute the "empty" space...making one shorter but still enough for standard 1/6 figures and another large enough for hulk or Ultron. Here's a link to the style of clamp, this is from Amazon, but you can get them at lowes and Home Depot and your local hardware (ace, tractor supply, true value...mom and pop places). It really is just screwing them on in four spots. It's that simple.

Cool thank you. I'll look into it. I was gonna get the regular version but the smash version is tempting.

Can someone show a picture of the clamp on their detolf so I can have a visual? Greatly appreciated. Thanks

People seem to be making this harder then it is. There are only three pieces to the detolf. The wood top and bottom. The glass. The metal frame. The clamp bolts to the metal. It only goes on one way. It's not hard. And I got these photos on google by typing detolf clamp adjustment. And for kicks, found them again in the top response) typing detolf adjustable. So easy enough to find with five seconds of work.

Idk man, seems kinda complicated

Jk
Anyone think I'll be able to pick up the smashing version on its own?

The most complicated part should be finding the correct size that is large enough to wrap around the Detolf's poles. I haven't seen anyone post the size they've used, but the smallest size might not necessarily fit.

It depends what you have access to. They are all pretty adjustable and the detolf metal support structure isn't big. I've not found one that doesn't work. Except the really big ones. The clips are designed for wire and cable (steel cable) and they are adjustable within a fairly wide range. Just measure the rod in your detolf and take that with you to the store. As I said..it's pretty simple. Or take the pole from one of hot toys bases with you. Those are close enough to the right size you can try the clips out at the store. Even have the person at the store show you how to use them. If you own and can operate a ruler (maybe a level) and a wrench set you should be able to figure it out.

Otherwise, maybe throw the tools away. In fact, forget that, if you shop at ikea you should be able to do this. Assembling the furniture is harder then doing this. Lol really. You don't have to put any softener type material on the clips, but I did. Doesn't have to be anything crazy. I used Velcro strips. And not on the glass. Just one side on the clip to provide a bit of a barrier..and if the clips are a wee bit not level this over comes that.

Something like these work. Or poster tape. Or baby proofing table corner stuff. Not required. But may help and lessen any stress you have. All pretty cheap. Heck, silly putty works too.

Ok. Well thank you for your hard work. Didn't realize I'd get a lecture with the photos. Thanks for that too. Really made my day.

Blogger pictures later tonight.

****. not cool. too soon for me. bad timing.
I mean, wasn't this supposed to come out like december or something? and usually you could add a couple of months of production delay to that? so, I was expecting early next year at best...
makes me think that maybe the pre-order numbers were low and it's actually a pretty small run?

Production probably went faster because most of the parts already existed, they could have had the body in production for a long time since it's the same sculpt.

I'm eager to see how the sculpts turned out, as well as the color of the skin and the pants, which I hope are a little darker than in the proto pics. I'll probably leave the smash upper body in the box but I'd also like to see what the seams look like.

There has hardly been any production delays from Hot Toys lately. They have been releasing figures early for a while now. They said a while back that they got a hang of production and found a way to speed it up. Most AoU figures are also easy to reprint due to most of the parts being reused.
