Sorry to here it Steven. Looks like this is becoming a problem with this batch. Let's hope we can get them replaced if we have that problem.

Got my notice from Alter Ego comics... no shipping date, but they've arrived and I now have less cash in the bank :lol

Can't wait to get this figure, just keeping my fingers crossed that he arrives w/o injury :rock

Mine, which came from sideshow, looked ok in the package. The rubber joint sleeves hold the parts together, but the joints were cracked or completely broken upon removal.

Steven

OK, here's what I learned for everyone in the last 48 hours (It's been busy here, so bear with me, but I have been ready to share this one as soon as I could login...)

My "loose" foot...and to some degree, Blaster's joint probs...

I sat here, dejected that others were getting Aliens with good feet (sorry about the bad knee abake) and thought...and thought....and then realized I had best closely inspect my Alien's ankle better, rather than just complain about it being loose.

Glad I did.

The inner joint was shattered. Yeah. That was the cause of the looseness, due to the fact that HT used hard clear plastic ball joint recepticles for the feet and hands. Inside each part, opposite the softer plastic ball, is a hard (translate that to BRITTLE) plastic joint part. And, it is glued well into the rubber appendage. If it breaks, as it did in mine's left foot, the peices stay in place, but flex, and don't hold well the ball. If they are broken and peices missing, not sure what to tell you.
With mine, I repaired it, and now I have a nice, tight holding ankle joint, for the moment.

What I did was put just a small amount of some regular superglue into the socket, so that it would swish around and get all the cracked parts well, then wiped it out, and sprayed my Insta-Set in. Once that set, I took some thicker superglue, Bondini, which is gummy enough to not flow everywhere, and put a nice rim around the top of the socket, set that, then test fitted the ball. I kept on adding layers of glue, on the outer rim only, and setting with insta until the ball was hard to push in, but held. It was some micro surgery, but it worked. I think it will hold now, as I coated the upper area pretty well. Not so much that it looks bad, but it took some doing.

I hope this helps someone. Try it. Just do NOT put much glue inside the socket or all bets are off! Be very careful. That's why I used thick glue, not the runny standard stuff. Only use that for the cracks to set them together some.

This is a really tricky problem. It's in a bad place, as there are minimal repairs for it. Other than replacing the parts outright, or getting some sockets...which I guess you could do, just replace all the ball sockets completely....but that is even more work. With all that soft rubber, just be careful.

Hope this info helps someone.

Wow.
Maybe HT didn't do enough research into the materials they were using for these guys huh?
Oh well, I'm still waiting for an answer from them regarding a replacement part for the knee articulation.

There is ONLY ONE MAN who could post that corrective surgery info Les. You are amazing Dude!

DSC Update: Adam shipped our Warriors, they're now on their way!

GREAT NEWS! I am glad to know that. By golly, wait til Paul gets his! :D

And, glad I could help on that, regarding the joint info. I guess I need to post pics of the ball joints. I'll get a shot or two and add it to my posted info. It may help.
Just don't force any poses. I think when my Alien arrived, that was cracked already. I remember putting the foot on...I think...seems one is already in place? Can't remember. But, that left one was cracked.
Just be careful! :D

You know it! And you know it's getting "Lesterized"! :lol:monkey5

And congrats to everyone getting theirs in the next few days, awesome.

Did I just say days? Yes, you're damned right I did.

Days away baby, Days!

Trust me Paul, barring any of the reported issues, which I hope for those waiting do not happen, this figure is going to really delite you, it's just really fantastic and awesome looking you'll really enjoy it and you won't even compare it to the film, you'll just be in awe of what it is and it rocks.

Hey MF, have you heard Hurricane is doing light up shoulder lamps for us?

Anyway set up a thread for that but the reason I mention it is you have repeatedly commented about the amazing "blue filter" paint apps of this as it relates to how the film was shot and I wanted to mention that when the Marines actually have these lamps spilling light on it it will make an amazing night display as well.

Ya, I might get my Hick's lamp done up. I'd also want to get a flashlight like he had when he exposed the crawlers, my dad sells for a company that does LEDs so maybe he'll get a sample piece that's close enough to a flashlight like that. As nice as the movie-simulating paint apps are, I think what is truly great about this figure is the head and the hard molded hands, with those fierce claws and the evil fury in the head design/sculpt, this thing just looks like a bad mother****er you don't want to run into and makes the AVP warrior look like his ***** haha. I hope to finish my crawlers this weekend, and I just got my new camera yesterday, so I may throw the warrior back into the spotlight to try some new things as well, but such is life, one day at a time.

OMIGOD. MAULFAN WITH A NEW CAMERA! LORD KNOWS WHAT AMAZING $-HIT'S GONNA COME OUTTA THAT. CONGRATS! CAN'T WAIT! :lol

Yeah, I can't wait for this guy, I had my dealer check all the joints on mine so I'm sure it's cool and ready to pounce.

I can't help but get a chuckle out of this statement, you had your dealer check your joints for ya, hehe, so you gonna meet a guy in an alley, "you got the money?" "Yeah, you got the stuff?" hehe. Sorry, been watching the Sopranos with my father for the last 2 weeks so my brain goes the gangster route sometimes. Don't forget, we still have to get Les' warrior over to your table for some Texas Hold 'Em with your marines :)

As for the camera, thanks, I'm slowly evolving towards being a pro, now I have an SLR which is a big step and opens up some new options. If you want to see a start to my work with it, check out my Collectibles Photos thread or the HT Jack Sparrow thread, I did a quickie tonight.

Yeah, I was so worried I literally had him take it out, put it together and pose it to check against joint defects. Just didn't want to do the 6 week return item route, that would have been painful. Saw your jack shot, nice.

Ya, not to say people aren't careful with these figures, but I'm thinking part of why I've had success with my warrior is that I am super retentive about handling it with care, I've always been very protective of my toys as a child and collectibles as an adult, and at $150 each, I'm not looking to buy a second warrior unless it's to build a hive, not to replace, which I'm strongly considering, I think it'd be a nice display to have Hicks caught between two warriors ready to strike at him with him armed and ready to kick *** with no fear.

I hear ya, I treat mine like museum pieces now because, well, they are with all the money and talent put into them. Super careful.

The sad thing is that with some of these figures, the parts are so delicate that you can jack stuff up even when you are being super careful.

Although with the Warrior, it sounds more like a failure with the product, rather than people man-handling their figures.

Agreed. Just be careful Paul, with folks putting your figures together and all. That stresses those brittle joints a bit. No need stressing them too much before you get them. Too bad a visual inspection isn't enough....

And MaulFan, I just thought of something, when you do get shoulderlamps all done up on your marines, and you get you a grid floor, and blue light it...and get those lamps on, add some smoke! Fog it up some. When you get it a bit fogged up, those shots are gonna ROCK!

Anyway, look forward to the new images.

And Paul, be honored to Lesterize your Alien. But only after you have played with it a while. You're not gonna wanna let it go too soon. :D
I'll be here. No rush!
