Batman Returns was one weird-ass movie.

Nice! Just the other day I was saying how much I wanted a Catwoman from the film. I hope she comes with a good unmasked sculpt as well.

Look no one is disputing how awesome 1/4 will look. If you want a Batman it will undoubtably be the best Batman of all time. It will look insane. It will also tempt all of us.

But then you will buy it 400 dollars later if not more. Get it, open it be all excited. Then get the Michael Keaton one... then the Tron Jeff Bridges lol.. then this then that then you have a house full of mandolls and your wife leaves you and you are broke lol. so you sell them all anyway because it;s just to damn much...

In all seriousness the point is that I just don't think most of us can handle it, from a price point and a space point. they move so hard and fast in 1/6 its a wonder we keep up anyways. I'm personally starting to feel like this is a monster I can't slow down.

Good post, Ray. That's how I'm feeling too. 1/4 is just so massive, I'm not sure the pure 1/6 HT collectors know just how big unless they own a PF or two. I thought 1/4 was going to be something held for title characters and absolute fan favorites, but it's looking more and more like for every 1/6 incarnation of a character HT does, we're going to get a 1/4 to accompany. Going to be interesting to see how they do.

Agreed, good post Ray and your post too KBA - exactly my feelings. Just, so many announcements, so many of my long-held ''One day I'd love to haves'' which is great of course...but all announced at the same time, and for 2 different scales? Not so good.

Not only that but I am wondering about Hot Toys financially. This has all the classic signs of a bubble to me, and Hot Toys growing too fast may put a heavy amount of financial strain on the company, and if collectors are suddenly overwhelmed with product that they cut back purchasing, Hot Toys could be faced with huge R&D expenses and other debt that could aversely affect them. I for one have cut-back substantially and have begun focusing on specific lines due to the sheer volume of stuff available, and re-releases. I sure hope the market can absorb everything they are doing.

We dont know that for fact though. So far the only cert we know of is Dutch from Predator. I for one find it unlikely that every figure from a line is going to be in both 1/6 and 1/4 so for example it's quite possible that the only character to be done under 1/4 for Batman Returns is Batman himself

Dutch specifically but they've made 1:4 announcements on The Dark Knight Rises, Batman Returns, The Avengers, Predator, Predator 2, Aliens vs. Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Predators and there is one other so far I can't remember. At this rate it's safe to assume that with TDKR you'll get at minimum Batman and Bane (although a Hathaway Catwoman isn't too far fetched), with The Avengers you're definitely getting at least Thor, Cap and Iron Man but the rest of the team is a possibility and with Batman Returns you're definitely looking at Batman. Even the announcement of Dutch ensures a 1:4 P1 Predator. The other Predator licenses I'm sure will spawn the exact same amount of Predators as their 1:6 counterparts before it and Aliens.

Face it, they are hitting the 1:4 realm hard already with the licenses they have announced.

See for TDKR I can only see them doing Batman, you're probably right about the Avengers as for the Predator lines I reckon 1 or 2 from each film max. I really cant see HT releasing as many 1/4 scale figures from each line as they do 1/6 scale

Yeah I was a bit surprised this got the 1/4 announcement but I feel exactly the same as you & Ray. I already had to sell of aload of 1/6 figures as it is because of what I've got coming & with what I've already got, I've just not got the room. I was toying with the thought of getting a 1/4 Batman & P1 as stand alone figure's but I won't, this hobby is already to expensive for me & I know it'll annoy me having a figure out of scale with all my other figures, yeah I'm wierd like that.

Still, why 1/4 Batman Returns figures but not 1/4 1989 Batman? It just doesn't make sense.

Though, Batman Returns was big in Asia back in 1992. I still remember some of the wacky Chinese things they made, not to mention Takara's first Batman figure.

I don't know about that. AVP:R sure just Wolf and P1 and P2 just one, but they will make an easy killing in AVP doing the three main and the ancient since it's just bio changes and let's not forget the Lost Predators. I have no doubts that we'll see more 1:4 Predators than any other license

We haven't seen a 1:4 figure yet, just heard of their coming. It's completely possible that while the kinks are being worked out in that scale, they'll do the 1/6 right now and then later on announce both Keaton and Jack 1:4 versions.

A Catwoman Dx is going to be awesome. I'm not sure if I'll be buying Penguin? He'll be interesting figure though, short & shaped like an egg if I remember right, it was ages ago I last watched Returns. Funny I can picture Catwoman perfectly :D

Ill be happy with Penguin in his dirty onesie.

Ive been sick again, since xmas, and this news made me feel better. Only thing that would top it would be HT Statham, and HT Tommy Wiseau.

HT Tommy Wiseau.

I'd sell my whole collection for that. :lol

Got me thinking, I'm surprised Hot Toys hasn't incorporated electronic voices with their figures yet. Screw 1/4 scale, make the figures talk!
