Right now, the only thing that can save the Hathaway Catwoman is her characterization.

If that's fine, then we're gold.

I don't think she'll be better than the Pfeiffer Catwoman, certainly not in psychological development or visuals, but I think Hathaway will hold her own in the role and be a worthy film interpretation of the character. I'm looking forward to her going up against the Dark Knight and I'm already starting to see cool similarities between the Returns Batman and Catwoman and the Rises Batman and Catwoman.

As far as figures go, the Returns Catwoman is the only one I'll buy. If it's good. If I was impressed with the character design for TDKR Catwoman, I'd get her too but what it basically comes down to is appearance.

how can you guys decide when you havent seen Hathaway Catwoman yet :lol

:exactly:

Next to Pfeiffer she looks like Gollum. :monkey1

Also true.

But I expect to like Hathaway's character so I'll want her on my shelf. Also, she's part of the Nolan rogues gallery. How could any of you guys not want her on your shelf? :huh

I don't believe. :lecture

Weren't you just talking about how much you wanted a Ras for your collection?

I agree. And I want all the rogues, including Catwoman and Bane.

There's got to be a better Nolan Catwoman outfit than the one we've been shown. Maybe her catburgulary one is more in line with a feline nature.

IF I get TDKR figures because I like the movie, then yes you have to get Catwoman.... it will be the only female representation of the Nolan Batman series.

Hey, I'm trying to justify restricting my collection to one fig per character... Don't try to convince me, my wallet can't take anymore!

She'll have to put in a Heath Ledger level performance to dethrone Pfeiffer. She has yet to prove herself as an adult actress quite honestly. Pfeiffer ate that role alive. She put a live bird in her mouth for a scene.

Hathaway's got a great body and a pretty face, but that's not going to be enough. Pfeiffer wasn't the curviest but she was the sexiest. She had diamonds in those greedy eyes.

Ras looks cool in that armor with the gauntlets and sword. As a figure, a Liam Neeson headsculpt, gas, mask and a suit to go up against everyone's Begins Batman is a no brainer.

Catwoman though looks so generic. Like your typical, black suited, 2000s, science-fiction, film chick. There's also this camp to it since they clearly used the 60s Newmar as inspiration. I don't think that works in a modern film that's meant to be taken seriously. Not the ball masquerade mask, not the techy goggles and certainly not the "practical" heel spikes.

I've given the look a chance ever since the Pittsburgh/Batpod pic, but with more and more revealed, it's clear to me what she looks like visually. I'm not about to spend $200+ on a figure of something I feel "meh" about just so I can "have them all".

Same with Bane.

Hell, even Scarecrow is bland as hell. In 2005 I always thought Crane was the weakest element of Begins. Not just his characterization, but his get up as well. A guy in a bland suit with a potato sack on his head. When he finally ends up becoming interesting at the end, he gets shot in the head and goes off screaming into the darkness. I ended up getting him though because I got the set for an extremely good deal. If I can snag Bane and Catwoman for cheap, like $100 - $150 cheap, then I might pull the trigger.

You gotta admit Maglor, Bane and Catwoman, visually, don't hold a candle to the TDK Ledger Joker, '89 Nicholson Joker, TDK Two-Face, Returns Catwoman or Returns Penguin.

That final look for Scarecrow was pretty cool though. Sooo much better than a guy in a head-to-toe scarecrow getup. I really hated his look in the comics.

Speaking of getting the Scarecrow/Demon, how much of a bargain did you get? I tragically lost a last second bidding war a little while back for a set. It was my own fault because I gave him too much time and didn't put my absolute max bid in. That punk got them for $285 MIB(with shipping). :slap

Its premature to say that though cause there is no emotional attachment yet to these characters.
Honestly, before Dark Knight, I had Zero interest on the Joker. I thought Heath looked like a horrible representation of the Crow at first. I loved Batman Begins, so I couldnt wait to see Batman on the big screen again. And to my surprise, the Joker stole the show.
But if TDKR turns out as good as DK...or even better, the characters will have much more depth to them than just their appearance that visually, they would be stunning.

I don't know. When I saw the first pic of the Joker, that black, white and red, close up of Ledger in Joker make up, I didn't think he looked very good.

But then when all those pics started to surface in 2007 and that trailer, I totally bought into the character without seeing the film.

So no, I don't think it's premature to say that at all. We have plenty of pics of Catwoman now, we know her motives and we've even heard a few lines and have seen her in action. With Bane, we have even MORE. It's not the same situation as the Joker. The Joker was blowing minds before the 2008 year even began for most people. Keep in mind I'm speaking in a purely visual and general level.

Do I expect to like Catwoman and Bane more when the film comes out? Sure. But they still feel like downgrades from what we've seen of them so far and there's only 3 months left.

I think it may be because of the oversaturation of the dark knight which may have caused a lower excitement level compared to looking forward to Dark Knight after Batman Begins.
Cause there was actually a point there were I got tired of seeing DK stuff, seeing "why so serious" shirts, or hearing about DK in general. Everytime I read a comic book movie, its compared to DK, or the abundance of joker heads for sale.
I think we have grown slighly numbed in expectation for the new movie.

But whenever I do sit down and really analyze the movie, how Bane will eventually destroy, and maybe humiliate batman, I just think there's gonna be a lot of emotions there seeing one of my favorite heroes get massacred. And catwoman, being seductive, and I'm almost quite certain that she's gonna have a moving reason to why she wears that outfit rather than just wanting to steal people's jewels, both of these characters are gonna bring a lot of emotions to this movie.
Although, my excitement level is not as high in anticipation for the new movie than for the dark knight, I really do think TDKR will be a better movie than DK.

Bane may not have as strong a design as some of the other villains, but he is one helluva improvement over his B&R appearance.

I think that Bane has a very unique design. I can see how some might find it bland, but my personal opinion is that it would look really good on a shelf. You really have to examine it to be enthused by it. It doesn't have the same "pop" that Joker had, and in turn, it gets overlooked as "boring," but from the vest to the coat to the mask, I'm impressed by it.

I don't get the hate for Banes costume design, I think it looks really cool and would look great on the shelf! I can already picture wanting 2-3 of him to do his different looks
