Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Uh, it clearly states on the placard that it's a 1/6 scale figure, it's never been officially stated anywhere that it's a statue, and you can clearly see all the now-normal Hot Toys Predator articulation.

I don't see how people still think it's a statue and how anyone thought it was statue to begin with I still don't quite understand.

Probably due to the way the dreads are sculpted and due to the position of the torso.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

If you wish to reply, feel free, but I will not engage on the subject further in public. If it still really bugs you perhaps a PM is in order.

And let you get your kicks off of that :dunno I offered the explanation for my post, and even afforded an apology for coming across as trolling, but you still felt the need to back track and add the trolling bit after reading a post by someone else.

But no, you're not trying to impress anyone, are ya :lol

Call me the villain is that helps you justify your over glorified trolling. I'm not the one on hear going back and rewording my posts to impress people :rotfl

And really funny the one passage you found necessary to write out :cuckoo:

And all this because some peoples' opinions are solid fact, and none shall argue against it. No matter the subject.

A lot more to it than just that.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

So… I'm really stoked for this guy. I'm wondering how the blood on the wakizashi will be handled. The way it's currently sculpted on I wouldn't think it would fit back in the scabbard. Perhaps they'll be two? I like how it also appears that the acid in the blood is already eating away at the blade. It's all pitted and discolored around where the blood is touching it.

There's a lot of great little details like that which I hope do carry over to the final piece. I'm guessing they probably will as HT doesn't display prototypes often that don't look pretty damn identical to what they finally release.

There's also the Alien tongues hanging off the belt, the collection of assorted Japanese weapons which look more like trophies (due to their variety) than the Pred's actual gear, and I love the verdigre bronze finish. Bronze is probably my favorite metal (well metallic alloy).

The design tells a story which is very neat. It's sort of like how within human culture people from one colture will adopt the style and culture of another as an affectation and as a way to show their interest and appreciation of that culture. You could see this particular individual being fascinated with Feudal Japan, and conceivably hunting during that time in our past, and adopting some of their cultual influences as well as taking piecemeal armor and weapons as trophies. There are clear parts of the armor which are farther removed from actual Japanese armor and others that are almost exact copies. Which I dig. Reminds me of the Mongols and how they would often assemble their armaments from those stolen from conquered peoples. I always had the picture of a Mongol barbarian as a sort of cultual grab bag of different weapons and armor.

This makes sense in the context of the established universe, the first two films in particular, where the Preds where shown to carry trophies of both their prey's bodies and arms. The later of course only in P2. I also just like me some historically derived fantasy/sci-fi armor.

Amazing post. Makes me want the figure even more. :goodpost:
I know i basically said good post twice, but that made this guy jump to eleven in my book.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Thanks man. It's anyone's right to dislike this piece, but I'd say it should be hard to deny that a lot of care, thought, and work has been put into both it's design and execution.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

He was just a man among men.

Then report it mini-mod.

So you troll me to prove a point? Big difference between giving your opinion on the God-like status of a person, and just waiting for someone to make a post so you can make accusations. If I called you a troll, then it was probably for reasons like this.

I agree he's made creature FX no ordinary man could do, but just my beliefs there's nothing any person has done, or will do, to elevate them to a God-like status.

And yes, a true master of the trade was lost when Winston passed on RIP. (Maybe if I'd clarified like this originally it wouldn't have seemed I was flaming you. My apologies)

Speaking of trolls ......

Who said anything about Biblical? :dunno

No it isn't, and no there is not an instance of that. And what else is that word used for?

I explained my post and put an apology in it saw, as well. But personally, I like how you edited your post to include the bit about trolling. You obviously read into this thread after posting that and saw dedguy's comment about it, so you had to go back and add that. I see that you'd rather be some board hero and get into flame wars, in some sad attempt to be cool on here :clap

Good for you buddy, you go around threads and type in your heroic responses and you tell us people who argue your point off. And take your time with responses and don't post anything stupid, because you wouldn't want you lose your hero status :lol

And let you get your kicks off of that :dunno I offered the explanation for my post, and even afforded an apology for coming across as trolling, but you still felt the need to back track and add the trolling bit after reading a post by someone else.

For [the word that start's with an "f" has four letters and ends with a "u" followed by a "c" and "k" I think you know which word I mean]s sake.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Just fyi, Predators aren't Samurai. This one may be dressed like one...but unless you're a tool like Paul Anderson, who clearly doesn't understand what a Predator is....you would know they are space HUNTERS. They hunt. And kill. And that's it. They'll fight if they have too, and have a sense of honor....but blood ritual, marking, respecting ____ is not correct.

They dont kill unarmed prey because it's not fun. It's easy.

The elder didnt kill Glover because he already killed one of his own...so he has respect for him. But he doesnt welcome him to his ship for training or any of that nonsense.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Man, I thought Star Wars/Trekkie nerds and Avatards were bad. But PredaNerds are on par.

Oh and yeah, it's a statue.

I tried, I really did. Also someone deriding the Anderson flick called "CelticP" is textbook irony kids.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

I seriously just want to talk about this actual product. Not it's validity in some fictional universe or if it's a statue or not.

The statue thing I only got involved in arguing about due to confusion. I couldn't understand why people thought it was a statue. It was as if someone walked up to me holding a blue ball and refused to accept it was blue and a ball and instead kept insisting it was a red cube.

So on the subject of the product again, I'm wondering how they'll handle the heads. They've shown the head in three different ways. One with the inner jaws open, one with them closed, and one with the helmet on. I wonder if that's all one head (with interchangeable mouthparts and a removable helmet) or if it's just going to come with multiple different full heads.

I'd personally hope for just one head, because I really like the engineering aspect of one head working with a variety of different display options.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

the placard says it's a 1/6 scale figure

And the placards for Iron Monger and Captain America say 1/6 Scale Limited Edition Collectible Figurine. Which is usually a term for statues.
