Sorry to hear that bad transaction you experienced from that seller. :( I hope he got what he deserves..

Thanks for sharing that experience w/ us. :exactly: I'm sure many here learned a thing or 2 about buying items from eBay intn'l. If it's too good to be true..it's a _____k**' scam! :lecture

Thanks. Just didn't want what happened to me to happen to others. Sometimes when it looks too good to be true, we still want to take the risk hoping that it is true. It's hard to resist the temtation sometimes.

Ha, I had saved up a ton of cash for something big (pred/alien related) last summer. Bought a "custom" Ancient Predator made from a Chopper figure for $350 on eBay.. It took over a month for me to get it, and it turned out to be crap. I had already opened a case because I hadn't recieved it. I got all my money back, and about a month later the seller messages me saying his power was out, and thats why he never contacted me. :monkey1

Then in October, the cash I had saved up had grown a bit.. So I bought a $400 SS Wolf bust on eBay. Scam of course.. I checked his feedback and it all looked okay.. At the time I bought the Wolf bust, he also had up a cinemaquette Pred for $1300, 2 SS Aliens Warrior busts up, both under $1000, and the Life-size HCG Alien statue for $1700. They were all described as "new/unopened" condition. After waiting forever and recieving strange messages from him about the tracking number I decided to open a case. Later, I checked his feedback again, and.. SEVERAL bad feedback scores and they were from everyone who bought the other stuff he had for sale that I mentioned above. :rotfl
Got my money back.

So by December, I had around $700-$800 saved up.. The most I've ever had at one time. Decided to buy a painted Alien Warrior statue from the dude who was selling kits here around October.
He said he could, and would do it for $700 + $45 for shipping. Said it would take 2 weeks, and that I would have to pay him $365 before he started, and $380 after it was finished. I finally got it, on the day of the Super Bowl and yikes.. Foot was broken from the leg, other foot was on the leg but broken from the base. No problem, could have happened in shipping...
I began to notice several small chips in the paint at various parts of the statue that COULD NOT have happened during shipping. The metallic ring/tube-like parts on the legs/hands/back-tubes were painted horribly. The paint was all uneven and smeared, some parts were even unpainted. The overall paint quality was pretty crappy..
The lower and upper jaw were deformed causing it to look like this:

horse-teeth3.jpg

Later, I decided to put the statue together just to see what it would look like... None of the pieces fit properly, and I then realized that the end part of the tail was painted a slightly different color than the rest of the tail.. Or it had been in the sun for 100 days. :slap
The head almost fit properly but it would bump up against the tubes on the back, which might not have happened if the back/chest piece fit properly into the hip....... :panic:

I got the $365 back through Paypal. For some reason I couldn't open a case for the $380. So I just have to hope that this very nice, truthful and reasonable person will give me the money that I spent so long saving up, back. :lol:slap:lol

Sorry to get off topic, but this has been pissing me off for a while and I wanted to say something, ha.

Yah, you got a point there. I guess we should really try hard to resist those great offers we see for the sake of our safety. :)

wow I was so close to fall into temptation for a p2 elder and it was from the same chilean scammer!!! Good thing I didnt go through with it because I thought to myself p2 elder could wait I have so many other po's to pay for.

work13, sorry to hear of your loss. I do believe paypal will make good on this and give your money back.

Thanks for keeping us informed. :hi5:

A random dude in chile is not going to have a pallette of high end figures without knowing what was on it, or how much it was worth. I mean which seller (on eBay) is dumb enough to sell at a significantly lower price? The only exception is a retired collector might come out and put all his stuff at a discount because he is liquidating or simply unaware of the current prices. But that is rare and happens on the forums. If you see something like this on eBay chances are it is not legitimate. Add in the few red lights of sellers with little or no feedback, ridiculously dumb deals (meaning that the seller is selling way below market), and obscure international sellers who happen to be selling only very specific and rare items....that should be your warning. Just gotta becareful when on evilbay.

But for the record even well known (at the time) boardies have turned scammers when they are desperate...such is reality. Stay safe everyone.

Thanks Centurion. As fellow collectors we have to look out for one another. :1-1:

Hey, it's good to vent, otherwise the steam builds up and you'll explode. Yeah, it's hard to resist the temtation of a good deal sometimes, and if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Although sometimes, when you talk to the ebay seller, you can bargin with them if you want to buy multiples of one item. Often they will give you really good deals and they usually follow through. But I only do that with sellers with a seller rating of at least 1000, and 99 to 100 percent positive rating. I think most of us have been scammed at one point or another, whether it be from toys, or your automechanic. I hear your pain dude and share in your frustration at the dishonest people out there.

Ha, thanks.

It gets annoying when you've spent so much time saving up and it all gets taken away by some d-bag, AFTER already going through 2 scams... :slap

Any of you guys ever think about kitbashing the failed ancient trio movie accurately with ht avp parts? Would be an insane display i think.

I think you can do it with repainted scar bio with no scar and there you have 3 ancient. beside if I remember correctly they don't have long blades as well and I don't know if all three have shoulder canon. You don't need alien head either :)

This can be done my friend. Waiting for pics :)

Yep, i think at the stand off just before they blow everything up, all 3 ancients are wearing the black neck ring, they didnt have bladed feet and all of them didnt have the blade guantlet on both arms...but i think all of em had their shoulder gunz when they were facing that wave of aliens.

Silentsurfer at one point had customized all 3 including the Scar Ancient. Looked pretty sick. He sold them awhile back. Wish I picked the Scar Ancient up back then.

The Scar paint on the Scar bio is very easy to remove. Some goof-off or goo-gone would wipe it right out.

So i've gone through most pages on this thread, being the big fan I am, but haven't seen any ridiculously good poses like these from Mediworld forums...check them out. I had no idea these AVP predators were capable of that range of motion. Not sure, but I am so afraid to move my Celtic at all...I wish I had like 2 of these, then I would pose the hell out of one.

If these have been posted, or if the poster is someone on SSF - I apologize in advance.
