I didn't look close enough at the first picture that was posted. I'd just assumed they would be printed on a transparent sheet etc so the tyre material shows through.

I haven't opened my decals yet. I didn't realise they wouldn't be a clear background :slap So, they just look like stickers?

Yes I got mine yesterday and looking at the pictures above they would of been awesome on a clear background as the logo is near perfect.
As they are I am unsure of my decision to use them as you can see the black background to easy.

I'm certain a dull coat over the tires will help them blend in better. Decals are tricky to print. Especially when what needs to be seen is white. Typically white becomes clear. If they're cut out better and given a matte finish, I think they'll look better. It's not terribly noticeable in person either

You can really tell they are decals in pictures but in person its really not that noticeable. As was just mentioned, printing decals is a tricky thing and even if they were printed onto clear sheets, it would still show, possibly more so. the options are:

1. dont use them
2. cut as close to the lettering as possible and be happy with how they look
3. cut out each letter individually, but christ what a job that would be!!! something I will not attempt and to get the curve right will require a steady hand and a hell of a lot of patience.
4. use sticker type decals but have full white lettering rather than just the outline. I dont know of anyone else that do these screen accurate outline lettering decals. One of the other big names (Im sure most will know who) has stated he cannot do outline lettering. Either way, whatever decal types you use, you will more than likely get the same effect.

Mr fusions pictures previously show that from a distance you cant see they are decals.

Even in my original pic I posted you can see they are decals close up. But cutting closer to the lettering and taking a slight step back, you cant see the outline at all in person. If anyone can come up with a better and easier way im all ears. But short of actually making a stencil and painting on the lettering (need some skill for that), i am more than happy with the decal route.

More noticeable in this pic

You can do what you want. I was blaming myself for not looking closer before I bought them, that's all.

All I was saying was I would've preferred outline on clear, so I could dull them down to blend. It's my fault for buying them. I haven't looked at mine yet. As I said - I just noticed in those pictures that they were black background.

1. dont use them

Wow.

sorry. i didnt mean for it to come off that way. With regards to the clear plastic, I dont know enough to say for sure. But as mr fusion mentioned earlier, it has something to do with printing white on a clear sheet. I can kinda see how this may not work to well. It could be due to sizing but also its just an outline too. Maybe if it was a white outline and still had the black on the inside and the rest was clear it may work, but I still think you would see the plastic outline. I think it just looks worse in pictures than in hand

Sorry, i wasnt having a go at anyone in particular. I also didnt want anyone to feel bad for buying them. Where I say, dont use them, I meant that you dont have to buy them or any decals and could just be happy with plain tyres as an option. Reading it back now I can see how bad it comes across. Again, I apologise. My wording could have been alot better.

Ah, okay. No worries, bud :duff.

I've not decided what I want to do with the ones I've bought yet. If I can blend them in better so they're less obviously a sticker/decal, I'll post the results here.

I'm not taking anything away from the maker - they're still great - and without people like him, we'd not have any options. I was just surprised by them being on black.

Once my arm is out of the cast im adding them. I cant see a way of blending them in really myself, but then im not very artistic really. All im gonna do is cut as close to the lettering as possible and apply them. That wont look too bad I think

My decals arrived the other day and I haven't had a chance to do them yet but I'm sure that once on and been on a while I wouldn't even notice

Just made my payment to HLJ for my Delorean. With conversion rate came to $597. Not too shabby. Was going back and forth on whether to pull the trigger since I don't have any other 1/6 scale stuff

So I've tried a few different power adapters on mine with no luck (all 4.5v with positive). It seems to only work on batteries. Anyone else have that experience?

Hey everyone, has or did anyone else order theirs from DirectCollectables.co.uk ive been trying to get some news on when they are shipping them. Sent quite a few emails over the last few months and had one very minimal reply in late February didn't know if anyone else was in the same boat?

I was going to preorder from them. I didn't and am very glad - I had a very bad experience with them and will never use them again. So, I got mine from collectable Kitbash. Sorry, that doesn't help you much, but I know that if you keep on at them they do eventually reply. Takes them a week sometimes.

Ditto same here, my Marty model didnt get shipped till i prompted them about it and it was some time (two months) after my friend received his which is why im slightly anxious (they put it down to a error in the system). Ive sent 3 emails in the last couple of months and not received a single reply so this has also added to my frustrations. Ill note collectable Kitbash for future business as it would take something special for me to use directcollectables.co.uk again. I was curious if anyone had actually received theirs in case a similar thing was happening as with Marty. :slap

I hope you get it sorted soon. It does strike me strange that they still have the Batman Returns up as pre order as thats been out for a few months everywhere else. I think it was released a month before the delorean was, possibly longer. So I will never be using them.
