I know recasts can be frowned upon, but I think I may grab one. I would like to keep my horse display, but I also love having him with the other villains.

I'll justify the purchase by the fact that I already paid full price for one. :D

I'm thinking the same thing. I have he set but now I want to display my Scarecrow on a horse too. Just gotta find a horse. Know anywhere I can get one?

Wha? That's a long wait. I guess they produce these on-demand. I would cancel the transaction if I were you and felt remorse at this point. Tell him that you now realize it was a recast and that he should have made it clearer in the auction (which is misleading IMO). If he doesn't want to play ball, you can report him to eBay. Or at least threaten to do so until he gives in, since he's really breaking eBay's rules.

EBay should have your back on this one.

The eyes are not painted as well and the rope is missing. It also appears darker and the buckles look too bright, though that could be lighting. Compare this:

To this:

Yeah, eyes look repainted and there's no rope there, though the paint on the head looks pretty good in that pic.

Beware of cheap-o recasts fellas.

I'm not following your concerns here.

Well if we know its a recast, but like the way it looks, what is the concern? It's almost half the price, but it's a hack of a lot better than half as good looking. Other than the missing noose, I can't tell the difference? :dunno

Do you think the seller is planning to bail on us? How is he breaking eBay's rules?

If there's something I'm missing I'd like to know about it, because I'm thinking of buying one today.

That seller specializes in recasts, he had plenty of T-1000 donut and "battle damaged" Arnold heads a few months ago.

It would be a nice option for those that don't wish to spend $90 on the real Scarecrow head. You're getting it at about half the price.

Just let it be known that it is a recast, with different paint, no noose and a casted neck hole (casted as in there is no neck ring where the connector inserts).

The concern is that it's a relatively low-quality, unlicensed recast. If you can deal with that and have no issues with buying recasts, then there's no real issue. But some may not realize that this is the case. Apart from paint, we don't know what the quality of the casting material will be. But I suspect sub-HT level.

I don't think the seller is going to back out of anything (you should use feedback to guide you there), but technically, the seller is breaking the law by reproducing an officially produced Hot Toys item for sale without their permission. Here is EBay's specific policy, if you are interested:

I think I may have figured out how to build a second Scarecrow (including body) for about $125. :)

I think Ed is right. if penny worth is waiting another month for his...I can't really see the pictures being the actual recast. They are probably pics of the original head.

No, they're obviously recasts. This guy has sold T2 recasts in the past of both the donut head and a "battle damaged" Arnold.

If the lack of noose, change in head color and T2 examples aren't enough, check out this Beat MJ,

It's a recast. He has had about 10 of each and yet isn't selling bodies or clothes?

This:

Plus this:

Plus the Hot toys tie (which I took off along with the shirt the day I got Scarecrow).

What about a body?

EDIT:

Nevermind, it comes with a body.

I'm suggesting that folks should use caution in buying apparent recasts off of eBay in both posts, and trying to assist Pennyworth if he wants to get out of his purchase.

Thanks man. I haven't decided how I'm going to proceed at this point, but I appreciate your input/assistance.

This is helpful info DiFabio, thank you.

That TTL Man-in-a-Suit is a pretty good deal with all that's included.

It's a little frustrating how pricey these are. I know it's limited edition and all, but I just saw Scarecrow's boots for over $40.

Nobody's disputing that he's selling recasts of this Scarecrow head - but I think people are saying that the image he's displaying is of the original head, not the recast. That's because he hasn't MADE the recast yet (hence the delay in shipment till end of March). He's just trying to sell them now, while the price is high and so he can get an estimate of how many he'll need to make.

He's cut the noose off to reflect the fact that the recast won't include the noose (and so he can probably use that very head to make the recast). The head color looks pretty much the same to me as the original, and any variation is explainable by lighting and camera effects.

So I don't think we can judge the quality of his recast because he hasn't actually shown it yet.

I wouldn't buy something on Ebay that doesn't ship within a week, just to keep myself covered - what if things get delayed another two weeks? Beginning of April is more than 45 days away, and you're no longer covered by Paypal.

Barring that, I don't think there's much morally wrong with recasting this Hot Toys head, given that they themselves decided to limit production and distribution.

They did this to themselves.

I am mainly urked that they did this as a 2 figure set. There is plenty of people who want either one by themselves. I really like scarecrow, could care less about Bat Demon. If anything it made it harder for me to get a decent price for him with this limited nonsense. I hate the idea of trying to pick up a head on ebay and it might be a recast. There is some great recasting out there, but I don't want a recast. :(
