Tape works great. I use masking tape, works like a charm. Just apply gently, with enough pressure to get the dust, but not so hard that the rubber sticks to the tape!

I did the detolf mod a couple of mothes ago and it works like a charm. No dust has touched the suit, and i've had the figure for 2 weeks.
